The United Party for National Development (UPND) has cautioned Republican President Michael Sata against finding people being investigated for corrupt activities guilty even before they are tried in the courts of law.

UPND deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa tells QFM that the President seems to be leading the investigative wings on how the cases involving former MMD leaders should be handled.

Mr. Mweetwa says from what the President is reported to have said upon arrival from South Africa were he had gone to attend the ANC centenary celebrations, it is doubtful whether people being probed for corruption will have a fair trial.

He notes that President Sata should lead by example in upholding the rule of law by allowing the law to take its course whenever issues of corruption are being dealt with.

Mr. Mweetwa has since doubted whether people like Dora Siliya who is being investigated in connection with the sale of Zamtel will have a fair trial.

Yesterday President Sata said that he would soon swear in Mr Nchito who would “go for them, especially that he knew them well.” ?“Very soon, I am going to swear in Mutembo Nchtito who knows them better. He will sort them out including Dora Siliya. She must recover quickly,” Mr Sata said.?

  1. She will be subjected to a show trial. This country is headed in a wrong direction. I am not sure this is the change Zambians voted for. You have criminals like Mahttan getting away with crime. They are protecting their buddies and creating show trials involving political opponents.

  2. Who had a fair trial under MMD?? She sold ZAMTEL selfishly which was very unfaiir to us Zambians..Who cares if she gets a fair trial or not?? the majority want her behind bars

  3. The presidents rant destroys the case , thats if there was one in the first place. Dora can not have fair trial when the presidents was clearly seen to be instigating the witch hunt.

  4. MWEETWAAAA WHERE WERE YOU WHEN DORA WAS INSULTING SATA AND DESTRIBUTING PONO MATERIALS ALLEGING SATA TO BE GAY,
    DO NOT BE STUPID MWAICHE.
DORA DESERVE WHAT SHE IS GOINGTHROUGH.
DORA IS TASTING HER OWN SEEDS SHE SORE.YOU REAP WHAT YOU SORE.

  5. “Very soon, I am going to swear in Mutembo Nchtito who knows them better. He will sort them out including Dora Siliya. She must recover quickly,” Mr Sata said.

Iam was also shocked with these utterance yesterday on Qfm 18 hrs news by Sata. What a President we have.Where is the separation of power?

  6. MWEETWA MUSA, MY FELLOW TRIBESMAN JUST SHUT UP. DON’T TALK ON THERE BEHALF. IN THE WORLD OF THESE MMD CULPRITS YOU DON’T EXIST. YOU WILL CONTINUE BEING POOR WHILE THEY CONTINUE BURYING TONS OF MONEY IN UNKNOWN LOCATIONS.JUST COUNTINUE KULIMA MAPOPWE AND SEE HOW MUCH YOU CAN SELL THEM TO FRA, IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO YET. AND DO US A FAVOUR BUY YOUR A NEW REPRESENTABLE SUITE, EVEN FROM CHINA.

  7. Sharp shotter and mweetwa
    do your research well.
Under normal circumstance, Siliya should be behind bars. Ours is abnormal henceforth the reason that whore can insult and pretend to be sick. Yes she is sick in the head that is the reason she orchestrated the selling of zamtel with impunity. My own grandmother who can not read or write was shocked to learn that that stupid daughter of an imbicile old foolish woman could do such a thing.
These politicians think Zambia is their house to abuse. Send her to jail. Rumour has it that she has hidden close to 15 billion kwacha. where nobody knows.

  8. There is nothing wrong with the statement thiefs should be wary that they will be caged. The presido is just stating fact, we better get used to his style of leadership. I worked with him at MoH thats is his the way of doing things. Lets not condemn any how for the sake of it…

  9. Zambians have short memories like that of a goldfish!!! Barely 100 days ago this Dora was on cloud 9 insulting elders like ba Sata – now she will taste her own medicine. Do not throw stones when you live in glass houses. So exactly what alternative to the Dora saga are bloggers suggesting – no use condemning if you cant offer viable solutions or viable alternatives – that is what is called debate (offering credible alternatives)

  10. I agree with UPND. Data needs to take a chill pill and let the DPP do his job. He seem sure that Dora Siloys is guilty. I smell a mistrial and Dora could walk on Technicality

  11. We all know that Dora was a rougue charecter. What we are saying is that normalcy in the manner the Gov’t conducts issues must be restored. We believe PF won elections because people expected it to act above board, and not to perpetuate the MMD wrongs. We want a sane government that gurantees the rights of all citizens, including these MMD thieves. They must be tried fairly and punished fairly. Mr Sata should realise he is no longer in opposition, but our President and should behave as such.

  12. LT your reporting is skewed toward a certain clique or party. change and report facts and not these rumours you are reporting.

  13. The strategy again is wrong by this Useless Party of Narrow-minded Dunderheads (UPND), you should refrain from commenting on individual cases as a party as you will end up with cake on your face, surely is this a progressive party!!

  14. What goes around comes around. Dora and other MMD members will suffer for what they did to others for 20 years. And Sata and other PFmembers will have their time as well. They won’t be in power forever. Those who are lucky will die before they can suffer the harrassment and prison.  If PF is wise enough to handle these cases well, they will not suffer the consequence. But that is not likely right now. The Judiciary is biased based on who is in power. Mwanya bonse! For the rest of us, we will just watch.

  15. #16 Mature
It’s not LT but Qfm.The radio station is just trying to report what is on the ground unlike The Post.Qfm where covering PF favourably during elections including featuring on that program..something like Monday Evening Live and nobody complained.Whats wrong this time.Keep it up Qfm and iam even listening to Killer Beats right now waiting for the ‘Hotel Heartbreak’.

  16. @19 Sharp Shooter, thanks for the correction. however am not confortable with this selective reporting. these LT guys should know better than reporting rumours and call that professionalism, no. are you happy with these insults flying around from disgruntled bloggers all in the name of free press? let these professionals help us readers by sieving what they report as what they report has the portential of causing alot of damage.

  17. Mweetwa, where do you stand? with the Zambian people or with the plunderers? You are now a disappointment.Unzasu should have taught you selfless leadership…

  18. boma ni boma, but upnd the 3rd rated party would never know as you are the Unwanted People for nobodys development, HH rejected 3 times by the people, Chipimo is soon bond to overtake you into 3rd place, under5 should give it up

  19. The supposition Sata is putting across to the nation is that all the suspects are already guilty and just needs to pass through the courts to be sentenced. The late president who himself has a lot to answer against corruption if we are serious about corruption never conducted himself the way Sata is doing

  20. I am sure it will just end at call outs. Not even court. Liato; zee, Dr Muso; zee, soon Mutati; zee, James; zee, Andrew, zee. Even KK had more than 100 cases when FJT became president. What happened? Unless ine, olo some peasant in Shangombo or Kaputa.

  21. LT muselela kwakaba… all I have to do is search for articles before PF came into power. LT was all-over  for MMD now they seem to be skewed towards PF. Have guts guys and stick to what is truly best for the majority of Zambians or if not stick to the MMD you believed in.

  22. okay that finally makes sense, the Zamtel sale is being investigate and likely will be obtained because of what Dora is alleged to have done during campaigns. That makes a lot of sense

  23. Shame on you Zambians supporting thieves!!!. The country has been static in terms of development for 20 years because of greedy people and thieves. This is the only time to clean the house in 20 years and no christian forgiveness card should be applied, plunderers should face the penalty for there crimes.

  24. Number 26 (Seventh Day Adventist),
we kindly request you to use another name on this blog. That is a name of a  very big organisation. Whatever you say, someone understands that is the position of many Zambians in that organization. Whether you are part of it or not, we know beyond any reasonable doubt it would be the right to do. Please bear in mind that the best way to preach to people about God is how we live our lives! We appreciate your consideration and we wish you a pleasant day.

  25. Number 26 (Seventh Day Adventist),
Whether you are part of it or not, we know beyond any reasonable doubt that it would be the correct thing to do.

  26. The PF government needs to remove this perception that they are persecuting former MMD leaders. We all know that wrong things were done but we should let the law take its course than let the politicians take a lead and people are tried in the press.
We do not want what happened with the former president FTJ (MHSRIP). Where huge amounts of money are spent but we have nothing to talk home about.
Is this fight against corruption real or is a PR stunt or political retribution?

  27. Assuming that Sata dies tomorrow or in dew days time, as prayed for and predicted by some senior PF leaders, what will be the fate of Mutembo Nchitu, Sebastian Zulu, Mpombo, Musa Mwenye and the rest who have sneeked into PF Govt through CROOK’s LAW? As for Officers who administer Law in the Courts of Zambia, they are advised to adhere to tenets of “the rule of Law” – not to resort to partisan politics. Dora Siliya was merely part of the institution that collectively decided on the fate of ZAMTEL. Right now the PF Govt has fallen into their own chasm they dug by acusing RB of being a foregner, yet Sata is promoting a Vice President of known Scottish parents. As for PF beneficiaries, Sata’s predicted demise will entail more havoc to them.

  28. Act consistently. 29. The Wolf is right. Suppose **Sata dies tomorrow or in dew days time, as prayed for and predicted by some senior PF leaders, what will be the fate of Mutembo Nchitu, Sebastian Zulu, Mpombo, Musa Mwenye and the rest who have sneeked into PF Govt through CROOK’s LAW?
