Isaac Chansa said that Zambia’s win over Senegal was down to belief.

Zambia on Saturday beat host favorites Senegal 2-1 in both sides opening Africa Cup Group A match at the Estadio de Bata to go top of the table in their pool.

“We believed in ourselves and we prepared very well,” Chansa said

“We made it and we are very proud of ourselves and now want to concentrate on our next games.”

Zambia were plain sailing in the first half against Senegal and got their first half goals from Rainford Kalaba and Emmanuel Mayuka in the 12th and 22nd minutes respectively.

Dame N’Doye got Senegals lone goal in the 73rd minute.

Zambia have three points, level with second placed Equatorial Guinea who beat Libya 1-0 in the tournaments first game on the same day.

  1. Go Zambia! Put this match behind and concentrate on the remaining games. Don’t disappoint us when we least expect it as has been the case always.

  2. it was 2-1 please be factual, no wonder ba WD never want to put their adress because by now they would have run out of legal fees due to reckless reporting without facts. atleast u guys you should research first and get facts.

  3. Chipolopolo Supports where did they write 2 – 0?? I can only read 2-1 Or has LT corrected the Article? LT please also give us an option to Edit our postings just like you have done.
Go Ba Zambia Go.. Dochi Kubeba

  4. why so many bemba monkeys in the national team, let us balance and rotate on tribal bases only one real tonga in team, bembas think everything good in zambia belongs to them

  5. Zambia lack the stamina to counter-attack…stop eating Nshima and Kepenta + beans get on proper diet schedules..the boys look like small primary school boys!!

  6. Number 10…Get a life…LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF THE STORY…THATS A DEDICATION TO YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HAS ALWAYS SAID WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH…JUST SHUT UP OR ELSE YOU WILL BE SHOT…LIKE SENEGAL!
    GO ZED…NI ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  7. ZAMBIA NEVER PLAYED WELL IN THE SECOND HALF. THE COACH WENT INSANE IN TRYING TO SIGNAL TO REFEREE FOR HIM TO BLOW THE OVERTIME WHISTLE BECAUSE IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE BOYS WERE TIRED AND ANYTIME SENEGAL WOULD HAVE SCORED!!!
BUT ALL THE SAME YOU MADE IT AND NOW STANDING WITH 3 POINTS. CONGRATULATIONS PF. GO PF GO PF TOGETHER WITH OUR SATA.

LOOK AT THE PICTURE, NI DONCHI KUBEBA!!!!;););)

  8. lack of stamina on the part of kalaba…and katongo,,,renard shud hv taken dem off for more pacy players like clifford or felix.or kaangwa..and also remove of one the two little boys too…

  9. Good game..my only observations is that our team is usally out of steam towards the end. Renard needs to find a solution because its risky to leave a wounded buffalo

  10. Nachula please leave the chipolopolo out of PF. They are our national team wether PF ,MMD ,UNIP or UNDP. Why do you want to politises everything some of ours have no party. Let chipolopolo be for everyone, they need our support too.

  11. l would like us to meet ivory coast pa quarter finals….it will be a cup of coffee.for me that will be a team to easily beat.muletipo shani bane?

  12. @no8.. its on merit iwe kacikala y always tribalism?? waba itole!!  Bembas are naturally good footballers.. Kalu,Chitalu,Chalie cool, wisdom chansa, numba mwila.. to name but jst a few. one Zambia one Nation.

  13. @no 8, I normally respect people’s opinions and never indulge in personal attack but its very frightening when Zambians like you begin to see the need for tribal balance even in soccer. Your remarks are evil and should not be condoned by all loving Zambians including respectable Tongas you claim to represent. Its a national team and has nothing to do with race, tribe nor political affiliation..please go for confession!!!!

  14. @8 you are an *****. Grow up and get a life. If there’s one cause that unites all Zambians, its football. Dont bring your cheap tribalism in our soccer you herdsman.

  15. There iz need for the team to spend some quality time in a proper gym for phyzical fitness. So far so good, well done.

  16. Who knows the players in Barcelona Team in Spain? How many of them soccer players look like Demba Ba? #10 soccer is about skill and determination not how huge you look..
