PF loses another parliamentary petition

Share

The PF has yet again lost another parliamentary election petition. This time around PF has lost the Kapiri Mposhi election petition which is the second judgment. Ndola high court judge Mwinde Siavwapa has declared the election of MMD‘s Lawrence Zimba valid, dismissing with costs PF’s Eddie Christopher Musonda’s petition.

Judge Siavwapa says allegations of bribery contained in the petitioner’s claims had no effect on the overall results of the elections. According to the official result Zimba polled sixteen thousand five hundred and seventy five votes while Musonda who was his closest rival only polled nine thousand five hundred and nineteen votes and UPND candidate Robby Chungwa polled six thousand six hundred and fifty four votes.

  1. 2/50, lets wait for the remaining 48 flimsy petitions. This is becoming laughable, where is Mmembe we continue calling for replacing current judges with our friends who will always judge in our favour even when we use dodgy evidence.

  2. He who laughs last, laughs best so calm down fo=ols. At least we know that the judiciary is not in PF pockets unlike when the MMD was in power.

  3. Election petitions are being heard and decided so quickly, yet cases which involve companies and the economic livelihood and potential tax injection into the country have been adjourned for the last 12 years. Can anyone explain how an individual can be allowed adjournments since 2001? Where does the interests of the judiciary lie? It seems to be in politics.

  4. yahhh what a logo. This was designed by baPresident – correct me. I like the natural tone of just putting lines without any particular order so long vapalanako. Viva PF. I end here!

  5. Instead of some of you appreciating the fact that democracy has become real in Zm unlike in the times of the corrupt, dead MMD, you are busy posting rubbish.I am very happy with the out come of the judgement. Credit to my party PF for not interfering in the independence of our Judiciary

    • You ve taken my words right out of my mouth. Some short sighted shallow minded people cant see the positive side of the putcomes. Its only yesterday when no one could win cases against the ruling party and now this has become a realit. Cant people see that this is a huge positive?

  6. UPND QUICKLY TEEMUP WITH MMD AND NOW IMPECHMENT. WE DONT WANT POLICE RULE. BUT WE NEED RULE FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE

  7. HO HO HO. It seems the campaign by the Post to “reform” the Judiciary has not been synchronised with the court cases ka. Or was it meant to intimidate the learned men of the bench?

  8. Lulu! What crime has the president committed which can call for his impeachment? This is the problem with the UPND supporters; they claim to be very intelligent but cannot analyse simple issues. This is the reason why they were even predicting a victory for the UPND when the writing was on the wall that the PF were destined for an electoral victory. To impeach a president ,my dear Lulu, you need a two thirds majority. I do not think that the MMD and UPND make up two thirds of parliament.

  9. THE GOVERNMENT HAS REQUESTED THAT IT LOSES ALL ELECTION PETITIONS AS WE NEED NO BY-ELECTIONS. LETS USE A BIT OF REASONING. IN ALL THE PETITIONS, ONLY 1 OR 2 WILL GO IN FAVOR OF THE PF. BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN MMD NEVER RIGGED ON THE CONTRARY, IT DID. THE GOVERNMENT JUST WANT TO SPARE SOME RESOURCES.

  10. Even if Govt interfered, the Judges have to option but to dismiss the pettioners with cost because of lack of credibility.

  11. These petitions are a sheer waste of time. Why don’t people simply learn to accept defeat and move on. There are better things to do than grasp at straws!!!

  12. Who is going to fund these petitions, especially when they are dismissed with costs. Has the PF got enough money all of a sudden?

  13. the Judges still owe their allegiance to MMD who appointed many of them so don’t get surprised by the judgements, more surprises are yet to come.

  14. watch out when DORA SILIYA, GEORGE KUNDA, NAMULAMBE AND THE REST BIG MMD. These are the target not that ka small Lawrence Zimba in MMD. Wina azalila

  15. These petitions are frivolous. Most of these losing PF candidates thought that PF will lean on the judges to rule in their favour. What a waste of valuable court time!
