The Chadiza Magistrate court has adjourned to 10 February 2012 the case in which two suspects were arrested with a rocket propelled grenade.

Magistrate Musonda Chanda granted the extension to the 10 February 2012 and has also extended bail for the first accused Agnes Nyirenda a deputy head Teacher at Zingale Basic School of Chipata District to the same date while the second accused Kachepa Zulu of Kavala village of chief Mwangala’s area will still remain in police custody

Chadiza police public prosecutor Charles Situtu appealed for the extension of the mention case because the police have not yet received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecution.

In another development a marauding hyena has left a man of Kambulile Village of Chief Mwangala’s area of Chadiza District with a life threatening wound on his left leg.

42 year old Isaac Mwale was attacked by the Hyena last night around mid night on his way back into the house from his backyard latrine after a call of nature.

Mwale said on his way back to the house, he saw a black animal that looked like a dog that leaped at him after which it severely mauled him his left leg.

He said he took courage and wrestled with the mammal until he rescued himself only to discover that it had chewed part of his left leg.

Mwale has since been treated for the wound at Taferansoni Clinic in the same area.

Last week villagers from Zingalume Village of chief Zingalume’s area appealed to the Zambia Wild Life Authority (ZAWA ) to crop the growing number of hyenas said to be terrorising goats and people in the area.

  1. #1 MUSONDA – probably for killing hyenas! But seriously what I have heard is that there is a lot of arms-dealing going on especially with rebels in DRC. People are exchanging the arms for diamonds. It’s one of the most hidden illegal activities going on in the country right now, but the authorirties are on the ball.

  2. Portrait of President Michael Sata to feature on the new Kwacha notes that are expected to be printed within the next 6 months.

  3. @#1
kekekekekekekekekekeke…..The grenade is meant for her husband in case of a domestic dispute, dont you that Iraq war is also in marriages..kekekeke…She was supposed to direct the thing between the legs of her husband.

  4. @Gokigo Milazhe – excuse my ignorance, I need to understand your blog – Zamibans are exchanging weapons for diamonds is this correct? If so, where are the Zambians getting these weapons from?

  5. One must be a buyer and another a seller. Rocket propelled Grenada in Zambia? A lot of such weapons were looted in Libya and have now spread all over the sahel and now Zambia. But this is really puzzling.

  6. Agnes Nyirenda a deputy head Teacher at Zingale Basic School of Chipata District bought a rocket propelled grenade for self defense only……

  7. pipo need 2understand dat between chadiza and nyimba near wit de boarder wit mozambique, dere land mines wich were planted during the renamo war hence rocket propelled grenades not being a surprise 2us.it is believed dat dey contain red mercury wich re trade at high prices.

    banda dc-chadiza.

  8. You ignorant fools. These weapons were left behind by the RENAMO rebels and the other day I read that the Redcross SG was found with an AK47 which he obviously got from one of the war torn countries of refugee camps. Most of Zambia’s borders are littered with guns, landmines etc left behind from past wars.

  9. #9 CINDY – I don’t think there is one particular source. For instance, AK47s are everywhere if you know where to look mainly from recently calmed down trouble spots like Angola, Namibia and even Zim…but Angola is one major route. From my understanding it is reported that many Savimbi fighters were just dumped liked that without full decommissioning or others attempted to go back to the bush after the peace accord – remember that is how Savimbi ended up being killed. Many of those he went back into the bush with remain with a lot of weapons and are starving. These so-called karavinas murder-for-hire criminals that continue to terrorise esepcially western and north-western provinces are all Angolans. Having said that you can get a grenade launcher OVER THE INTERNET,I’m not joking!

  10. There r mini portable toilets pipo use in compounts n villages instead of riskg ka!another lady ws killed in gaden lsk.bad smell or life?

  11. The culture of keeping dogs should continue. The dogs help guard the house at night. The hyena could have been noticed by the dog(s) Sad that it happened that way. Put logo and kill those beasts cos the wildlife regard animal life more important than human life :|

  12. Most likely she did not even know what it was except there is no ignorance at law, that fat guy who stole from Zambians and burried the loot can afford lawyers but this poor lady … thats the world for you the rich getting away with bigger crimes. May God Almighyty bring justice to this our country. GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  13. Ati life threatening wound. can a life threating wound be treated at Taferansoni clinic?unless one doesnt know the clinic in question.he would have been taken to Mwami or St Francis hospital.

  14. # 25, keeping dogs would only mean an easy meal for the hyena. the deputy head was spot on. Rocket propelled grenade is an ideal defense against hyenas.
