Inspector General of Police Dr Martin Malama has cautioned police officers not to be swayed by politicians but stand firm and protect the republican constitution.

Dr Malama says Police officers should always ensure that they defend the constitution of the land which they swore to defend.

He stated that there should be no other law that should be protected apart from the constitution adding that no one should re-define the law.

Dr Malama has warned police officers against looking at political affiliation when handling cases adding that those found wanting should be dealt with according to the law regardless of affiliation.

He further urged the police officers to prioritize defending the country’s democracy in their operations.

The Inspector General was speaking in Lusaka this morning when he opened the national post election review meeting for the Zambia police with stakeholders who include the Church, the Media, CSOs and political parties.

  1. He is the first one PF have always swayed to the point of near compromise. He is told to jump and his answer is “how high?”

  2. IG must remind him self that officers in the field get peanuts, his statement cannot warrant the fact that corruption etc etc in the force wont end..as long as yaba Nyokola Njala,ba silikale sibanza leka…ni nkani ya choncho!

  3. He is just a vuvunzela for consitable SATA it is the same police under his eye which has now allowed perception created by Post’s Fred Membe who wants everyone who is accused to be crucified at all cost. There is no professionalism in police anymore every1 who joins PF is clean. I challenge to Dr. Malama if he is not PF Political stooge to arrest S. Masebo on the allegation of corruption when she waMinister of Local Govt and bought TUKATENGA MALILO Vehicles $9000 but she records show the govt paid $29000 per vehicle so which means they shared 20,000 with Top Motors officials a chinese company this issue went to ACC but up to now we are not told the results of investigations but SATA’S SON MULENGA’S SO CALLED investigations was done express and announced within a week

  4. IG Dr. Malama has been intoxicated with lies. For all we know, the current IG is the worst culprit who dances to political tunes to be in good books with President Sata. So far Malama is the worst profession in the Police Service. Professionalism in the Police has now been vested in his juniors. IG Malama is capable of sounding professional in day light but embarks on dirty PF cadre functions under darkness. The fate of his term of Office is in the wrting on the high wall.

  5. I had respect for Malama before PF came into power. Now, to me, he is just another PF bunkum. He is clueless, has turned the whole police force into a Home Guards Unit for Sata and his stooges. I’m now told that even C5 has lost all its morale and some have since resigned and gone into private practice – many have gone into South Africa. As it is now, robbers will slowly start gaining an upper hand like in the days of nervous spoiler, when robbers used to be glamorised and worshipped especially by people from the north and the copperbelt. It is becoming clear that although we are one zambia, we are different people at different stages of evolutional, social and psychological development, hence civilisation. We have different civilisations within the same country. That cannot be denied!

  6. Yes indeed. Can you please also inform Customs officers to make sure that that delegation which is in Ethiopia on returning to Zambia pays tax on all the imports that they will be bringing? These politicians are the biggest smugglers on foreign trips.

  7. CAN YOU TELL THE POLICE OFFICERS TO STOP ROAD BLOCKS OR CHECK POINTS IN LIVINGSTONE,KALOMO AND CHOMA. THEY ARE BACK TO SQUARE ONE. IN LIVINGSTONE THEY ARE NEAR MBITA MARKET EVERYDAY. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE POLICE OFFICERS? IT SEEMS THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO APART FROM FOLLOWING SMALL TRUCKS CARRYING FARMERS’ PRODUCE FROM VILLAGES. IT IS VERY SHAMEFUL INDEED.
