United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema has described commerce minister Bob Sichinga’s statement that the MMD government printed fake three trillion kwacha in China as a diplomatic blunder.
And Mr Hichilema has called on the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) to discipline Mr Sichinga on the same who happens to be their member.
Mr Hichilema says it is unfortunate that a Senior Minister can publicly make a lie and a diplomatic blunder against the Chinese government.
He says the UPND is wondering how many times the PF government would continue to squander the trust entrusted to them by the Zambian people by allegedly telling lies.
Mr. Hichilema says what is surprising is the deafening silence from the head of state on an issue which has diplomatic ramifications with Zambia’s relationship with the Chinese government.
He says the Patriotic Front led government’s continued issuance of alarming statements which end up being lies is an embarrassment to the Country.
And Mr. Hichilema has called upon the Zambia Institute Chartered Accountants (ZICA) to discipline its member Mr Sichinga on the alarming statement regarding the fake currency
He has also challenged Mr. Sichinga to publicly apologise to the Zambians at large and the Chinese government for the embarrassment and inconvenience caused.
And Mr. Hichilema says that the party expects serious policy directives on the promised job creation through resuscitating Mwinilunga Pineapple, Mununshi Banana Scheme, Mansa Batteries, Livingstone Motor Assemblies, Luangwa Industries, Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia, Mulungushi and Kafue Textiles.

You cannot print K3 trillion, which as BOZ have confirmed is all the money in circulation in Zambia, without the involvement of the Chinese govt. The Chinese govt knows everything going on in China and would have to be involved in such type of economic sabotage of Zambia. PF and Sichinga have a lot to explain here. Their antipathy for China knows no bounds. These comments by both the President and Sichinga are a slap in the face for KK who initiated the vision of long term relations with China since the early 1960s and recently went to China to “mend bridges”.

I’m surprised even HH who should have an eye for detail concluded that it is the Chinese government being referred to by Bob Sichinga, but it isn’t. Three trillion is a hugh sum of money. As much as respect Bob, he or anyone in PF should provide empirical evidence before issuing such statements. Show the real evidence, then speak. This is why people liked and respected Levy so much, Levy would take on things analytically and not allow his subordinates to speak a different language. We need the same from Sata and his subordinates.

Three trillion kwacha is a lot of money which cannot easily move from China to Zambia without the knowledge of the Chinese gvt hence the Chinese gvt getting entangled in this whole issue. So whether or not the Chinese gvt was involved in the printing by mere fact that this money was allowed to move from China to Zambia by implication the Chinese gvt was involved. Therefore, it doesn’t matter whether or not Sichinga mentioned the Chinese gvt being involved the Chinese have the right to demand an apology from this gvt. And surely we can’t afford to have ministers who are so careless in the way they conduct themselves in public, ZICA must do something about this.

Sichinga should have shown us a sample of a fake note instead of just yapping like a pregnant cocroach. What ever you think of it that statement will damage the economy. If there is a fake money which has always been around from matero the BOZ usually retrieve such from circulation professionally and quietly to avoid alarming citizens and investors.
