Southern Chiefs against re-alignment – Hamudulu

Share

Lusaka- Chirundu road in Chirundu District

Siavonga Area member of parliament Kennedy Hamudulu says President Michael Sata and the stakeholders to resolve the controversial realignment of Chirundu and Itezhi-tezhi districts, respectively.

And the Chirundu Catholic Church Youths has condemned the Police in the area for not issuing them a permit to have a forum where they intended to discuss on the advantages of the realignment of Chirundu by President Michael Sata.

Mr. Hamudulu said that the stakeholders had a meeting in Choma recently where they discussed the issue amicably.

He said it was now up to the president and them to decide.

He said that the Chiefs were against the realignment of Chirundu by the president because they were not consulted on the matter.

Mr. Hamudulu spoke this in a telephone interview with ZANIS.

The MP added that the tradition leaders have demanded the president to rescind his decision as it would bring peace to the people of southern province.

“We have heard elsewhere where people have voiced out sentiments against some presidential orders and they have reversed but why not here ?, ” he complained.

He said he was saddened to hear the president that he could liken his rule to the colonial masters.

“He was saying that when the colonial masters did this… no one protested , but by then there was no democracy unless if he say his ruling is under the colonial masters,” he said.

The MP observed that the majority of people who were supporting the realignment of Chirundu were PF cadres who just came in the district recently and not the indigenous people of Chirundu.

“ Let the indigenous people of Chirundu talk about this realignment and not those who have just come two days because they have nothing to contribute,“ he said.

Meanwhile the Chirundu Catholic Church Youths has condemned the Police in the area for not issuing them a permit to have a forum where they intended to discuss on the advantages of the realignment of Chirundu by President Michael Sata.

Chirundu Catholic Church Youth chairperson Tadeo Chinoi complained that the move by the police was not good as it did not allow the youths to express their views over the realignment of Chirundu

Mr. Chinoi said that the youths had invited some senior MMD officials to take part in the discussion over the realignment of Chirundu district and the officials were just waiting for the confirmation from the police.

  1. please let Chirundu be aligned to lusaka some chiefs are very happy to be aligned to lusaka coz some chiefs in the province thinks are bigger than others Cheers PF!!!

  2. @Senior headman, issues of fights for seniority do not occur in southern province and that is the reason why southern province has no paramount chief. This is why you all of the chiefs united with one vocal except the sell out Mwanachingwala who is well known for boot leaking. He leaked MMD boots and now he wants to leak PF boots. Tongaland is united because there are no thieves there period!

  3. Lets go tongas, lets go ilas.Lets continue resisting the theft of our land in broad day light.Tho motives are not good. Its to weaken us.

  4. Hon MP, there is no need to consult over a stoopid idea.  Sata should just stop this realignment nonsense.  He is right that the colonialists were drawing the borders of African countries in Berlin in the 1880s without African representation.  Is his State House the new Pathetic Fascist Berlin where the natives are not consulted?  The next govt in 2016 will realign the districts and provinces back to what they were before Sata.

  5. No room for dialogue. He has already proved himself untrustworthy by rejecting a report of one of the CoI he himself appointed. He is a broad day light liar.Dont ever give him even chance to talk.He is lost in his own world,no direction.Chirundu and ITT are and will always be in Sp.He might as well concentrate his energies and tax payer’s monies to Mpika and Muchinga

  6. Too late.. The changes have already be ratified in parliament.. you can change things when your party wins the presidential and governance vote, if ever.. it tough being a small regional party..

  7. The only reason people are against the re-alignment is that they did not get consulted. They should state the cons of this proposal to have any merit in their argument. Otherwise they have a political agenda

  8. these chiefs are so shallow and are being used by HH to further his agenda, nobody is taking land from anyone, they will still remain tonga, primitive and dull as they were before the allignment. The people of eastern province and northern ddnt complain about muchinga now these fo.ols think they are above the law.Stop day dreaming and get over it.Sometimes i envy tanzania where these so called chiefs are powerless ,zambia is a republic not a mini monarch ie we voted for leaders not these useless womanisers called chiefs.

  9. Brilliant Hon MP.! Where have been if I may ask.Yr friend in Itezhi Tezhi-Hon Monde made his opinion a long ago. However, beta late than never..! Sir ,you ar rest assured that CHIRUNDU AND ITT are and shall always be part and parcel of the MIGHTY SOUTHERN PROVINCE.Let those with a different view go hang in hell as we shal not entertain their selfish political schemes.Right now officers ar on the ground putting up beacons to mark the boundary of the province. In addtion, request for financial aid to put an electrical fence has been submitted DANIDA,DFID.FULL STOP,PAGE IS CLOSED.next.!!

  10. Ba mama Dr. Kaseba ala mulandeko naba lumbwe wenu taba tekele bwino icalo. Limbi kuli mwebo kuti baumfwa. Icalo na ciminina takuli ubuyantanshi (Dr. Kaseba please speak to your husband, he has failed to govern the country. Probably he can listen to you. The country is on stand still without progress)

  11. this is not an issue you tongas, whats your problem. lets talk issues like ban-kimoon gay ism. chirundu is still in zambia, it hasent been sold to investors. weather in southern or lusaka, we are all zambians

  12. Harakat al-shabaab al Mujahideen tonga tribalists. thats how to describe this primitive tribe coz they not different from al shabaab of somalia, does re-alighnement means taking land? kwena this tribe is still leaving in the times of shaka the zulu

  13. The north and south will always repel. Sata should not force matters. If the whole of s/p rises, will he kill everyone? Sata has divided zambia and will regret once violence erupts.

  14. Your tribe does not suddenly change when your district is re aligned neither does your chief change. If your Tumbuka and Lundazi is aligned to Southern province you still remain Tumbuka and You chief still remains Magodi, Khulamayembe, Chasefu, Kazembe. Pls educate the people b4 they start killing each other over silly things. In any case what services worth talking about does the govt provide.

  15. MP remember that political boundaries are different from traditional boundaries as an MP you should know that. When africa was divided by Europeans villages were divided some went to congo malawi etc but the relationship remained up to today Chief Kazembe is king of some tribes in congo Mpezeni still king of people in Malawi and as far as Swazi land but pay homage to him. These districts in Zambia are all politically made and no traditional leader has his palace in the centre of town.Don’t weaken yourselves by mixing oranges and chickens in to a set separate the and see the sense. The truth is chirundu is near Lusaka adminstratively let not make Zambia ungovernable because of our hate for PF what goes around comes around.

  16. The only reason Sata is abusing his powers of decree on tongas is because they did not vote for him. Sata has always haboured jealousness over southern province due to its advancement and unity. Leave the tongas alone you moron. Lack of education is a curse. From Kaunda, Chiluba and Sata did not have formal degrees and you can see the difference compared to mwanawasa. We are all waiting for developmental programmes but what we are getting is antagonism and confusion.

  17. Is this re-alignment of Chirundu going to transfer land to Lusaka or is it for easy administration purposes only? Don’t waste your time on this matter. Chirundu will remain where it is nothing will change except your boma. Sata will not load chilrundu onto a truck and taken to Lusaka please. Chiefs will still be chiefs with their subjects and the language will still be tonga. Yaba twatendwa mwee.

  18. the issue with tongas and lozis is that they have personalised these provinces. who said southern province belongs to tongas or Western belongs to lozis, there was no such thing when the country was being demarcated. and these chiefs ascend to power undemocratically, who votes for them and who says their so called subjects love them? thats why i will never bow to a ka chief, only Jesus & God deserves that.

  19. All you southerners arguing against the realignment are just ignorant fools, how come Nothern and Eastern are are not arguing, you are just full of hate. First it was against Muchinga Province. When Mwanawasa created 3 districts ie Masaiti, Mpongwe and Lufwanyama and pumped money there for there establishment, it was okey. When Muchinga is created you cry foul. Your tribal rantings won’t help you. You bantustan, thats why HH will never rule Zambia because of your tribalism. Everyone fears your tribalism thats why they cannot entrust you with power

  20. Of course there is nothing sweater than HOME so Chi Sata can go re-align his province as he so wishes. Why specifically SP? The whole idea is to hit HH where it hurts most as SP is his home, but in the process you are hurting innocent people. A man who says will lead by 10 commandments is failing to listen to the affected people? Dont bring the word of GOD into disrepute if you dont really mean what you say. We are all watching!

  21. This PF gang is bringing divisions into the country. People voted for more mone, but they have got this dose of dictatorship

  22. It is very funny people are still talking about an issue which is already closed. Chirundu is now under Lsk and ITT under central. What has changed? Please Tongas dont take the gvt of the day for a ride just because we have a Bemba president in power. He was elected by Zambians and not Bembas only.so respect the gvt and wait for your turn. You will soon be given chance to rule if you love all tribes.

  23. Siavonga Area member of parliament Kennedy Hamudulu says President Michael Sata and the stakeholders to resolve the controversial realignment of Chirundu and Itezhi-tezhi districts, respectively.
    …………………………………………………………..
LT, When you decide to report in English, use it correctly also, it is statements like these that makes us readers not only bored but annoyed! how does respectively fit in in that statement? It is in fact the first line! **P%/(%¤#?** for days!

  24. TO ALL TONGAS, AS LONG AS YOU SHOW HATRED AGAINST BEMBAS AND THEIR LEADERS, YOUR TRIBES WILL NEVER RULE THIS COUNTRY. THAT IS WHY CHIPIMO WILL SOON OVER RUN HH. IN BEMBA THEY SAY ….UKUPOKA ICHINSENDA KU NKOKO KUNAKILILA…..PLEASE ASK THE MEANING OF THIS WISE SAYING FROM YOUR BEMBA FRIEND IF YOU HAVE ANY.

  25. I cry for my children and nation because ever since Dipak Patel and the MMD decided to remove the One Zambia One Nation motto from our Coat of Arms and other places it has now become a matter of where you come from. I wonder what this country will be like in the next 15 years cause before long if you don’t hail from a particular area then you can’t own anything in that your area of settlement. People what happened in the Great Lakes was real and now people are busy working healing the wounds of those wars. I ask for level headedness and lets think as Zambians above our tribes or where we originate from.

  26. What is the chirundu chief saying????? Chiefs from Choma, Mazabuka, Livingstone etc are the ones making the most noise. Chirundu is the winner if it is moved administratively. Lusaka province is it. Job well done Mr President

  27. Am sure Tongas and Lozis dont care who loads over them as long as the individual is fair. Kaunda amonised all zambian tribes. Chiluba never bothered who his friend was, Mwanawasa despite the family tree tag, he was a wise leader. RB despite corruption fought to be recognised through his developmental programmes. NOW comes Satan hadly 6months and he is showing hate, arrongance and supremacy like he is someone special. We are watching!

  28. #28, the bembas will say anything to justify the worst actions, e.g. uubomba mwibala alya mwibala is used by bembas to “take” from their employers or from government coffers. Anyway it is stupi.dity to generalise and suggest that tongas hate bembas, go to Choma and see how many bembas have long settled there and are quite comfortable living among their tonga brothers, more than they would ever be in Chinsali, Kasama or even Mpika itself.

  29. PF has devolution of power in its manifesto. This actually means semi autonomy for provinces. Southern has Chirundu border and Itezhi Tezh (electricity generation) and that is too much financial resources for one province hence the re-alliagnment. I do not think gvt can allow such resources to be controlled by the opposition…………

  30. # 13 Silent Drums that is why I have translated it for you and others in brackets. I thought since most people have tried to make our president see sense maybe a language (Bemba) he is conversant with will be comprehended especially if transmitted through Dr. Kaseba

  31. This issue is about wrong interpretation of power. In a country of 12 million people when you are voted into power it does not mean that you now own 12 million Zambians, NO NO NO! Hence the need for stakeholder consultation, it is not exactly the same as appointing a cabinet but even there leaders have to consult.

  32. Ba Zed # 32 we are being level headed except the President and Mr. Kabimba. Is it definetly difficult to consult stakeholders and reach consesus in this issue? We have two issues which has paralysed the country, Barotse Agreement and this alignment of ITT and Chirundu. Who has brought all this? the President and Mr. Kabimba. Mr. Sata is running the country like his farm and Mr. Kabimba is supporting like a farmer supervisor with a notion of muzungu anikonde. If the President is wrong he should be guided. Does he even have meetings with his cabinet to seek counsel? I doubt very much because a solution would have been found on these two issues. Maybe when the cabinet meets all keep quite and nod their heads in agreement to what Mr. Sata says. Mr. Sata please consult and learn to listen

  33. Let Southern province alone. Just because they didnt vote for the PF, you want to divide and conquer? Satana iwe.

  34. Do the schools continue teaching the current local language in the two districts? If not, then someone’s got the right to complain. Its all about consultation.

  35. Chirundu and ITT are for Southern Province and so be it forever and ever amen..! All the quarks, the evil minded pigs, satanist, homosexuals, monkeys thinking of these districts moving can continue hallucinating in vein..! Any hatrage or tribal inclination shal not change anything on this SERIOUS STANCE BY SOUTHERNERS.To hell with yr Mchinga useless province. If Chama is worth moving like anyhow anywhere ..so be it for u *****s.!

  36. Any dog masquareding as president thinking of moving Chirundu and ITT from SP shall be skinned alive and given to chiness for supper..!

  37. Wether we dont ever rule your Zambia as long as you leave us in peace all will be ok.Antagonise us such as what this grade 7 night scholar is doing then we shall apply Newton’s Law.We shall defend what rightly belongs to us to the later.Take your monies to Muchinga we shall use our individual monies to develop our blessed province. To hell with your one zambia many nations

  38. Mr MP you said the reason you jitterly is because you were not consulted. Suppose you were consulted would you have agreed to the idea? You see when MCS consults you especially my brothers from Southern province you think you so low that you even refused to be consulted. In every thing you Mr MP there are merits and demerits. But you look at were you have more merit than demerits. Look at this way the government said on administrative convenience because Choma or Livingstone is far and from Chirundu people pass turnpike Kafue thn go to Choma leaving Lusaka at the nose why?
So MP advise the people that they will remain as Tongas and they will not change the tribe. E.G There are people in Zambia and Tanzania but they HAVE ONE CHIEF WHO IS IN ZAMBIA LOOK AT THAT ONE MR MP.

  39. they want to steal even one sheep from a poor man..GOD will judge you harshly cyle mata and your bogus pf!!leave Chirundu in SP!!

  40. The southerners have the right to complain since they were not consulted. YOu people supporting and defending everything Sata does should be ashamed. Do not defend his errors simply because he is Bemba. Are you proud of the confusing he has brought regarding realigning of ministries and constant reshuffles of ministers? Are you happy that the kwacha is daily sliding? Are you going to defend him for lying to the people of Barotseland? Don’t demonise Tongas – maybe they know the man cannot be trusted and that is why they are opposing his ill-intentioned realignment of districts.

  41. Zambians if we will center this realignment of districts on political front only, then we will miss the bigger picture why stakeholders are against it, and at the end of the day it will be the president who will be looked like a fool after leaving power. The bigger picture stands on consultation where stakeholders are assured that the move will not affect them in anyway, because these people seem to have fears. Remember the occupation in this area is animal husbandly where one family owns 500 to 3500 animals, hence according to Tonga land management, the river bank is reserved for animals to for drinking water, therefore if they are not certain with the rules which will govern them in the new provinces, they have a reason to resist change. PF was suppose to consult first with people.

  42. There are too many things many stakeholders are skeptical about hence if pf as a party meant well for the local people, they were suppose to consult them and all was going to be smooth by now. Blaming the opposition for the party’s failure to consult will not make people change their minds, actually they will trust the opposition more. The other point to mention here is that, many stakeholders are also skeptical about their culture and language that it will be distorted, where their children will be required to learn other languages instead of their local language, because in every province in terms of education materials there is a local language learnt in schools, e.g Bemba in central, Nyanja in Lusaka, hence these are some of the fear many have, and they have the right as citizens.
