Shikapwasha Vowes Never to Pay for ‘Chanda Chimba’s Sins

Share

Former Information and Broadcasting Minister Ronnie Shikapwasha has vowed never to pay the nine hundred million kwacha over Chanda Chimba’s documentaries Lieutenant General Shikapwasha said that he had no hand in the airing of the infamous Chanda Chimba prior the 2011 elections.

At a press briefing in Lusaka where he read the letter he wrote to the Secretary to the Cabinet, the former minister says the claim to pay the said amount are baseless.

He added that the controversial stand up for Zambia programme was purely a business deal from which the National Broadcasting derived revenue.

He further states that he was never the recipient of the moneys as to bring about any loss to the national broadcaster or government.

Recently, Information Minister Fackson Shamenda announced that Lieutenant General Shikapwasha and his permanent secretary Sam Phiri were surcharged Nine Hundred Million Kwacha for authorizing the airing of the Chanda Chimba documentaries.

  1. RONNIE YOU HAD THE GUTS TO BOAST YOU WOULD PAY FOR ANY LOSE INCURRED WHEN YOUR GOVERNMENT WAS IN POWER. DID YOU IMPLY THAT THE PAYING BACK WAS TO BE DONE BY THE GOVERNMENT? REMEMBER YOU ARE THE MINORITY HERE. JUST APOLOGISE AND YOU WILL BE FORGIVEN, BA SATA TABASHUPA.
THIS STANCE WILL EVEN HELP YOUR CHANDA CHIMBA TO COME BACK IN THE OPEN OR HE WILL FACE DEPORTATION FROM WHICHEVER COUNTRY HE IS HIDING LIKE THE ZAMBIAN GAY THAT WAS BEATEN BY THE FAMILY.

  2. Its a shame for this guy, u were a minister and you did not know wat was going on in your ministry? Dats a damn lie just pay

  3. The PF has approached the untouchable, please people stay away from Shakapwasha. Anyone who knows in Keembe constituency feels how beastly their MP is. That Chanda Chimba case need to be shredded, it may turn uglier!!

  4. The issue here should not be Ronnie, but to take the matter back to court so that the articles by Chanda Chimba can be disproved. Thereafter any other action can be taken, and NOT before.

  5. The man was shamelessly on TV defending the chanda chimba programe. Why doesn’t someone rerun those tapes of him defending.

  6. The staff at ZNBC must be  in a very good position to know who was responsible for airing Chanda Chimba’s documentaries. The Director General and the News Editor, in particular, must have the necessary information. Both are residents of Lusaka and can give us information on the extent of Shikapwasha’s and Phiri’s involvement in this. Why not ask them?

  7. MaxiMbizo you are right. It a shame a minister did not know what was going on in his mininstry a thing no one can believe. The man was very pompus.

  8. There is no way this I.D.I.O.T can avoid paying. Chanda Chimbwis material was pure MMD campaign material and he was party minister of information. They will strip him of all property, sell his dogs and cats to recover, wait and see. BOMA NI BOMA. If they took Kundas mealie meal, who the F$%K is Shikawhatever to plead ignorance??

  9. People should be humble and never assume they will be in power for ever. This man’s christianity is FAKE. If MMD and Ala Bee had won, we would have been perpetually subjected to non-sense authorised by Skikapwasha. Our prayers were heard, halelujah

If he is a true xtian, he should simply admit his wrong. Denying only aggravates the matter and increases the punishment.

Regardless of the outcome, not a single kwacha of tax payers money will be abused to pay for MMD campaign issues. WE ARE NOT FOOLS, so just pay up Shikapwasha or they will take it out of your benefits, pension. repossession and sale of your properties

  10. Things Heating up. Anyone with Popcorns. I have run out of them and I want to order some for the whole year. This story is hilarious.

  11. These guys were very silly abusing power and let alone removal of abuse of office clause. That Chanda Chimba programme was a waste of tax payers money and why should tax payer even start settling such a big legal bill?

  12. Here is a lesson from all this saga. People ( Politicians infact) learn to take responsibility for your actions (Decisions).Stand up for zambia was purely MMD campaign plan which was a failure. Ronnie and his friends were going to be the biggest beneficiaries had the documentaries succceded in bring down MCS. I feel sorry for this guy but hey, accounts have to be settled. There is no way leaders can be spenting govt money in such a way and don’t account for such actions. We are a poor nation as it is, why not channel the 900 mita to something more constructive? The way forward in my opinion is that the MMD as a party should settle this bill, but then we have seen before how these guys ditch each other when they feel the heat, remember how they ditched Chiluba, then RB. ALI MUCHIBE UYU

  13. Hahahaha aumfwa how it feels in opposition isnt it this man who said stand up for Zambia is educative? just pay the money dude or else we get your benefits lol.

  14. How i wish Chanda Chimba could be smoked out and given the courage to challenge these suits he might just win given what we have come to see in 5 months.MMD should also learn to be principled and courgeous they are such whimps and tottally lacking in terms of principle.I have my own resrvations about UPND but one thing i respect them for is that they are pricimpled and courageous.

  15. Chimbwi wsa here last week for the party. He thinks his very safe in this country than Zambaia. He talks bad about Zed and the President, his still runing his mouth in a group as if nothing bad happened.

  16. It is high time Lawyers are put in their place. They are the BIGGEST THIEVES in Zambia. It is amazing that nobody seems to have noticed this. Creating riches from NO tangible work at all!! How many hours did these bastard work to be demanding all that dough? They ought to be ashamed of themselves. If I had my way I would just line them up and whip their cheating behinds. A ssholes

  17. Whatever, but the point is, that legal bill should have gone to MMD because the Chimbwi’s programme was PARTY material. The govt does not campaign but the party does. Even if competition was stiff, the extent of the defamation was just pathetic. You don’t do that. Sorry Ronnie Shikampuno.
