  1. We are sorry for the Banda family. Diabetes is a hereditary disease meaning his children and grand children should take measures to avoid its on set in them too. Eat low calorie diet, do enough excise. Talk about diabetes and learn about it.

  2. #2 Muyanda,
-There is no connection between the amount of calories and diabetes.
-Diabetes is all about blood sugar, which comes from drinking too much cokacola/fanta and eating too much carbohydrates (nshima, bread, tute etc). Lots of people die of Ignorance
-Too bad Mr Banda U are gone

  3. No 3. it has everything to do with calories, fat can be borken down by the body to make sugar or energy! so even eating fatty foods or staying fat puts you at risk of high blood sure…. MHSRIEP

  4. #Republican G,
-Tata/mayo ba Guard u needed to educate yourself before commenting on this.
-Fats are made of fatty acids and glycerol. So fats are broken down to fatty ACIDs (-OOH).
-Sugar (glucose) is NOT an acid, its an aldehyde (-CHO). There is no relationship between an acid and an aldehyde.
-So fats CANNOT be broken down to sugar (Glucose).
-starch (nshima, potatoes, rice, bread etc) is made of sugars. so they are broken down to
    sugars.

  5. Righ gentlemen even alcohol/beer puts you at risk too, some beers like Mosi have sugar in them that why I like castle cause its sugar free.
Now imagine you have been drinking since you were 18yrs (most pipo start at this age), can you service minus doing exercises, nemichopo & etc on top of that?
Been fat is one contributing factors aswell, what you have all said is right yes the child should start taking care of themselves one of them is likely to have it aswell.

  6. No. 1,2,3,4 Diabetes is caused by failure of beta cells in the pancreas to produce insulin. Insulin is the hormone which enhance the uptake of glucose from the blood into the cells for respiration (production of energy- ATPs). Now if insulin is not available in the body, glucose (sugar) will remain high in blood thus sugar disease. Now due to glucose not being utilised by the body the essential organs such heart, brain will starve cos no energy is produced in the mitochondria (power house) to provide energy hence causing the organs not to function and the cells in the organ dies.

  7. # 5 @ Anti politics, in my elementary biochemistry class, glucose can be formed from non glucose substances such as glycerol ( a product of fat) in the liver by a process called gluconeogenesis. It is one of the targets for treatment of type II diabetes. Just trying to clarify a few issues here!!!

  8. sorry for the family.i met the man at some function.interesting debate on cause of diabetes,i will reserve my comment for now.

  9. Muyand, republican guard and mpanga ya saps, thanks for moderating scientifically-you are all correct.ba Chinese dr has some point but his facts are mixed up or rather incomplete.Ba anti politics, perhaps it was just less than elementary biochemistry, you know like the 2 minus 5,it can’t issue!!!!Perhaps a simple question for you,why do people ESP those with undiagnosed diabetes lose weight despite a great appetite?Mhsrip.
