The 20 kilogram mass of tumor that 24 year old Robiana Muteka had on his back has been removed succefully. UTH managing director Dr Lackson Kasonka working with a team of 15 medical personnel said that Robiana is out of danger.
Dr Kasonka has told ZNBC news that the operation went well and was not marred by any complications. He said that Robiana did not lose a lot of blood during the procedure which started around 08 hours this morning.
Doctors started the operation at 09hrs and finished at exactly 11:45HRS. Robiana’s operation was delayed earlier due to insufficient blood for transfusion. Robian’s blood is a rare type, B negative.
He was evacuated from Livingstone early this month, following an order from President Michael Sata that he accesses specialist treatment. Last week Doctors at the UTH examined Robiana and they concluded that the tumors is not cancerous.
ZNBC
good job.
Thanks UTH, thanks Mr. President. Thanks the people of Zambia.
It is 14kg
Good job. To God be the glory
We thank God! I hope you will improve health services for all Zambians.
what took them so long? did it have to take the direct involvement of the President?:-?:-?:-?
THANK U JESUS!
Good work Docs..We thank God.
But WHY did they keep refusing to operate on the boy before??? It had to take the President to force them to operate on him! And you still call yourselves professionals. These chaps should be ashamed of themselves. So doctors now will not be working until the President forces them to??? These are the guys who are a real threat to PF, not any oter imagined enemy. If PF’s development programme in all sectors will only move forward each time ONLY after the President has issued instructions Zambia will never move forward. This is why people start making accusations because of malpractices like these.
If they don’t get paid how can they work? They also have bills to pay and that’s why the healthcare system is still struggling..Health care providers need motivation not just orders from the government and just working for peanuts under stressful working conditions. After all those years spent in school, I wonder how they feel too. Let’s not rush to condemn them, unless you are a Zambian doctor and you have more information about how things work, you could share more light.
Thank God for the successful operation. We wish him a quick recovery.
The patient was seen at UTH when he was 6 (1994). The tumour then was small. They were given an appointment to come back later and never showed up. Do not blame UTH or the doctors because it is not their job to follow people in their homes.
Is ukwa back? thank you ukwa on this one, nomba munasheko ubupuba.
I would like to know. Robiana never sought medical attention all these years until this year. Can the Journalists give us a proper report.
Well done UTH
but for sure fellow zambians, did it need to take the president to think on behalf of livingstone doctors for evacuation. i think please ,my fellow educated guys lets move away from this altitude, i believe that problem stated when he was 5 but where were our learnet doctors for gods sake, for it to take comrade sata to do this.
Did this case need presidential directive to act i can only thank god and hemcs and not reactive doctors unnecessary lives are lost due to love of money instead of human life its time my govt set up a paramedics unit in major towns for emergency response for old and sudden illness
Am so happy for Robiana..atleast he will be able to lead a normal life. We thank the Lord God Almighty for his abundant mercies, the doctors & not forgetting His excellency M.C Sata fo giving the order to operate on Rob….Thanx
It goes to show that we Zambians are lazy and not interested in doing the jobs we are paid to do. It had to take a presidential directive to get this done. The poor boy and her mother have gone to hell and back without the so called medics showing any compassion. Compassion is another rare commodity in this so call Christian nation.
Thank God. I wish the young man a quick recovery.
CONGRATULATIONS OUR DOCTORS AND THANKS VERY MUCH. THAT BOY RUBIANA WAS VISIBLY IN PAIN. AS A PARENT I COULDN’T HOLD MY TEARS AND PRAYED THINGS GO WELL FOR HIM AND THE ENTIRE FAMILY. PRAISE BE TO JEHOVAH, OUR GOD. THANK YOU ALL DOCTORS, ONCE AGAIN.
Yah! But ifibena Zambia ukutemwa ukutemwa ama complaints too much. The tumor has been removed, so whether you wail about presidents directive or not, it has been removed, its gone!!!!!!!!
…WE CAN’T FORGET THE PRESIDENT. THANK YOU MR PRESIDENT FOR YOUR QUICK THINKING ABOUT THE BOY. MAY JEHOVAH BE WITH YOU TO DISCHARGE SIMILAR DUTIES EVEN TO OTHERS. OR PUT IT RIGHTLY, FOR JEHOVAH TO WORK THROUGH YOU. THANKS MR PRESIDENT AND THANKS JEHOVAH FOR USING OUR LOVING PRESIDENT.
#10. YOU HAVE REALLY LOST YOUR MORALS. OR YOUR OWN PAENTS DID NOT POSSESS ANY TO IMPART IN YOU. IS HOW YOU EVEN INSULT YOUR OWN FATHER? JUST CONTINUE INSULTING YOUR OWN FATHER- NOT OTHERS’ PARENTS. IT’S A SHAME, REALLY. I CAN’T SAY MUCH.
And RB never cared about matters of life, thanks Sata you show care. Doctors start working on your own dont wait for directives from the president please
Good job UTH. happy for the boy, i really felt sorry for him.
To hell with UTH doctors….this boy came to them first time around and he was turned back…why is it that good samaritians were being asked for donations via social media like Facebook for the young man to go abroad for operation ie. India or RSA.
Does everything need the President to intervene…
Much as the job done by our medical doctors on this one is applausible, I feel they lack confidence in themselves and so can not take risks. This case could have been sorted out ages ago. All the best to Robiana in his future endevours.
Praise God! Thanks to the government and the Doctors at UTH.
Yes we can!
The truth is all the good doctors have left the country. What we have left with us in government hospitals is crap left-overs. The only way to live long in Zambia is if you earn not less that K5million a month. If you earn less than that, ku chi-tent at Soweto market and make friends with Dr. Doba-doba from Malawi. UTH they only give prescriptions and then wait for you at the main gate to sell you the medicine on the prescription; at the government clinics you are lucky to be given anything and the nurses are always annoyed. It’s crap. They are all waiting for President Sata to order them to start looking happy when serving people, and not to divert medicines to hig-cost and start treating people. Wonderful Zambia.
This could have been done using Laser had Ukwa given this boy a lift to India.
Michael should have given the lad a lift with him on his private jet to India where he was having his bullocks serviced it would have been ideal cover!!
@Johnie Walker, you have a seriously loose nut in your head and its gonna kill you.
WE PRAISE GOD FOR THAT. THANK JEHOVAH, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL.
praise God.
Thank you mr President. When you touch and help the least in our country, you just make me happy. May the Lord guide and tame your tongue. May every evil plan against you be thwarted by the power of the holy spirit. Lots of love Mr President.
donate that steak to some wizards in lusaka. we are in trouble here in sunningdale from these wizards and i hope they will give us peace while enjoying this choice steak from robianas anatomy. good job though ba uth.
If UTH is able to do that, why rush politicians to RSA or India. The guys just need good technology (equipment) and better pay. Also clease UTH of the satanists. people who are supposed to be living end up dying at UTH.
some pipo r so ignorant there are alot o things to put into consideration b4 deciding on ur line o treatment all u shud be saying are thank uz to the pipo who helped Robiana in any way dnt start hurling insults about Drz do u know the hard work they put in to become proffessionals n hav u neva sought medical attention before?
To God Be All The Glory for he is the giver of all knowledge, wisdom and life. I believe strongly that God will do great things for our great nation. God Bless Zambia.
Congratulations to the surgery team. What has happened says alot about our locally trained doctors. They are just as good as the foreign trained if not better. This should instill confidence in peoples mind that we have local specialists that can perform professionally with skill and get the job done. One Zambia One Nation.
MAY THE SOULS OF THOSE WHO DIED REST IN PEACE. MOST OF THEM DIED BECAUSE NO PRESIDENT ISSUED DIRECTIVES FOR THEM TO BE ATTENDED TO WHEN UTH WAS CAPABLE TO ATTEND TO THEIR ILLNESSES. ALL WE NEED IS PROPER LEADERSHIP AND ORGANISATION IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH.
Am so happy but at the same time sad …….. we need to change our work culture in Zambia … i think that UTH MD should be fired because he can only mobilize his team of doctors after the intervention of higher authority ….. question is … how many other seriously sick people with serious ailments have been denied medication?????? we need to change and change begins by firing non-functional professionals like UTH MD ….
We thank God for the successful operation and wish the boy quick recovery in the mighty name of the Healer himself the LORD JESUS CHRIST. We give Jesus all the glory and adoration.
Why do we wait for directives from the highest office ie The President? Are our own doctors can’t know want do? Don’t we have schemes for vulnarable people? What is the work taxpayer money? Who is suppose to use this money? Is is for president and family, ministers and family? We see and learn their evacuations to expensive hospital on expense of vulnarable people.
If these funds are for president and family, ministers and family then let them pay taxes and us who do not benefit seat back. It is shameful to hear the head of state to instruct to do what they are suppose to do. Livingstone General Hospital is aware of this problem but they were just quiet not until someone is about to die. This is stupid at the highest cost. They were suppose to evacuate this boy immediately.
Why cant UTH take proactive steps than waiting for the presidential command
You want UTH to go to round looking for sick people?
Very wcked health system that lacks initiative on part o health professionals . This guy has had the problem for too long and all he got was that its untreatable. Yet you could do it. Many of our people are dying due to unprofessionalism of our health professionals. Useless system really. It does not need to take a president to order you to do things RATHER, professionalism demands that you do what you are supposed to do. I hope health workers will start looking at human life as sacred.
Job well done, but pls UTH nxt time do not wait for the directive from the president for something that you know you can manager to operate, there are many masses of Zambians who are suffering who need your attention,do they need to appeal to the president to be attend to as well?Pls,pls we need your help.
Those asking: “Why did it take the president for Robiana to be attended to?” may have left Zambia a long time. Guys, Zambia stopped working a long long time; i presume more than 12years. Everything became “who you know, how much money you have, or what party you belong to”. There has been no service provision at all. My first of the many experiences was collection of a simple birth certificate; it was there; but they had to be paid to release it; next: passport; next. The recent one was a file to process mom’s title deed- went missing for 5 years; it only resurfaced after PF won the results. And this office, full of graduates from teh same University i went to, same school, same programs, only different specialisation. You meet in corridors, they look elsewhere!!
This is what PF has to deal with more than anything. The wheels of some government departments have very high inertia; very slow; no targets, no review, no responsibility, no consequences; just life goes on, especially on a friday like today. You get a heart attack if you come from organised societies; alas, take it easy, Jehovah will be in control!!
thx a wonderful job,may the god of mecy be glorif……. nomba bwana poseniko amano, we want 2 see ur promises at work.
THANK YOU PRESIDENT SATA FOR COMING TO THE AID OF THE BOY! BIG UP TO THE DOCTORS FOR TAKING UP THE CHALLENGE!
Dr. Shafik had reffered this boy to UTH 10yrs ago, but Drs. at UTH dismissed the diagnosis andi sent Rabiana back to L/stone. Over the years the tumour grew bigger and the boy was in pain. My question today is; why has it to take the president to intervene? The
people we are supposed to thank is the
media, without the media Rabiana would have died in pain.
Ur right my bro, many are being turned away without receiving proper medical attention, think of the many cases who haven’t been brought to our attention by the media
you re very right; but within the media, someone was not happy to expose the boy to the public. you see desperate times call for desperate measures; well done the media. and great comment bwana 2 hours Kwa Mutonyo!! Kuli tu mbuzi tukudya ma pepa; hahaha Mutonyo!!
No. 18 you are very right. That no.10 chap should only be insulting his own parents, not other pipo’s parents. Those chaps only think of hatred against the president, even in sickness. They even condemned the president for doing well by ordering the evacuation of that cancer patient in Chingola. To them, anything the president does is wrong, very primitive thinking.
