A joint team of Security wings in Western Province yesterday recorded a warn and caution statement for two Kaoma based Barotseland Activists for allegedly trying to recruit security officers for new Barotseland.

Provincial Police Commissioner Fanwell Siandenge confirmed the development and identified the duo as Leonard Mukamba 72 and Chairman for the renowned Barotse Freedom Movement (BFM) Namushi Nyambe aged 63 years.

Mr. Siandenge said the two who cooperated during the questioning are alleged to have approached a named retired security officer to recruit and train people for the said new Barotseland as security officers.

He said apart from recording a statement from the duo the joint team also conducted a search in Mukamba and Nyambe ‘s homes saying documents that included the Resolutions of the march 2012 BNC, a map for North Western Rhodesia and a document titled Barotseland as a possible source of Conflict in Zambia among others were found.

Mr. Siandenge has since appealed to people across the province especially retired security personnel to ensure that they report such matters to relevant authorities if approached.

He further appealed to people not to take for granted the peace and tranquillity the country has enjoyed as a unitary state for many years.

“This is our country we have nowhere to run to, if we destroy it we will blame ourselves someday” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Siandenge has disclosed that the Nkoya speaking people of Kaoma district will on Saturday the 7th of April 2012 hold a meeting in which they will react to the just ended Barotse National Council resolutions.

“The Nkoyas will also be holding their meeting this Saturday, they asked for a permit this morning to hold a meeting where will respond to the resolutions of the just ended BNC and we have given them a go ahead” he added.

  1. Power to the poeple, Give the people what there want,,The people of Barotse  are peacefull what there need is what you promised them…..even me iam with Barotse….we will fight till the end

  2. Civil wars do not start in Mars neither do they start from without. Our brothers (Lozis) started a long time ago preparing for this. What the security wing are reacting to is probably the tip of the iceberg. What is needed is for GRZ to take these guys seriously and act decisively over any one agitating for war. There cannot be an army within an army. Wall Street occupiers in America are being hounded and sent to the cells for just demonstrating by sitting in the street, how much more for one trying to recruit soldiers who are going to probably kill Zambian soldiers and other innocent souls. If the state has no muscle then our country will be overrun. We are still living in Shakas days were you can concur a village and rule them. The Lozis will concur Zambia under the lies of selfrule.

  3. ‘Hurry up with the chipyango,’ said the confused leader, ‘I want to create a pile of sand big enough to bury my sore head.’

  4. People are talking about dialogue, has it started? Where is it taking place? When pipo talk about ‘recruitment’, it means that there are some arms staked away somewhere. For how long are going to keep the lid on this issue? Let us invite the Ngambela to come on TV and address issues like, what happens to MPs, Lozis and other tribes from WP living in Zambia, Citizenship, Consultation of other tribes and Lozis not in Mongu, the self -sustainance of WP, who pays the the Civil Servant in WP, What kind of Governt they want (Monarch or otherwise), the fate of other tribes in WP, Boarders issues, concerns of the Mbundas and Nkoyas, interests of BRE, BFM and MOREBA etc. Then from their we can make a decision. Silence may just lead to an irruption which may be difficult to quench.

  5. I have always warned and I wish to warn once again that, LOZIS are a menace, they are Dangerous. They will make sure they attract the attention of the international community in every way they can, just to please themselves. What is interesting is, they don’t even know what a civil war is and most of the population in down-town Mongu, have never even heard of a Gun go-off. Let them start a war but I can assure them that, they will NEVER win and if anything, poverty, strife and backwardness will even be more greater!

    • Obviously you don’t know what you are talking about. 14 people were shot dead last year in Mongu by the GRZ!!!  Keep on thinking this is a joke but that is wishful thinking.  The fact is this movement is organized from within and without. We will keep on organizing support from the international community.  If it can happen in Sudan, guess what, it will happen here too.

  6. limbula isansa before roots go far deep! GRZ should deal with these *****ss decisively NOW ! NEVER SHOULD YOU ALLOW PUS IN THE ABSCESS TO ACCUMULATE ! INCISE IT NOW!

  7. #George Kunda….enough is enough time for action is now…we will fight u zambian,,,,we will not fight u with guns but with word and wisdom

  8. Can someone call for a war we crush these people since they dont want dialog.
Sata where is a freindly war you promised in 90 days!PF should fullfill its promises. We are waiting! If we dont go to war with the lozis, come 2016, we will bring back MMD.

  9. @ Mwape Mbokeme; your kind makes me chuckle a lot. I’m not part of the Lozis or any of the groups fighting for Barotse independence, but through common wisdom I can tell that the Lozis are more prepared than any of you small heads can think of. You think people can think of such a big thing as secession minus having proper military backup? My guess is, Angola is right behind them. Remember the strained diplomatic relations between Zed & Angola.

    • There is more than that behind this issue. I am sure that’s why the government is hesitant on adddressing it with the vigour it needs. They are not sure or don’t know who is really behind this. Remember a few days ago it was reported that government has embarked on investigations to find the source of the funds for the BNC. It simply shows the government is aware that these people have prepared for any eventualities to this effect, but don’t know to what extent their preparations are.

    • I dont think Angola could support the cause. Angola are in a similar situation with Cabinda ‘s rebels and Im sure they would not be in support of a rebel group in Zambia. I think the BNC is eager to have the matter resolved peacefully and perhaps internationalised media. However, what is surprising me is governments inertia to resolve the issue, and take definite steps to have harmony through a lasting negotiated solution. HEMCS acknowledged this agreement as valid and he should push his cabinet to make decisions over the matter. The earlier government does this the better for the whole country. There should be no need for loss of life.

  10. We are ready for Zambia. Its time we crushed Zambia because they are deaf. Why do they want us to be part of Zambia when we are benefiting? Kinako. We just want them to start or arrest any person then we will show them.

  11. Newt Gingrich still has hope he will be president of the US of A even in the state his campaign is going… so is Ron Paul. Sometimes reality is the last thing in the mind of determination, even as unrealistic as it is…

  12. We are sick and tired of the benefits Zambia is giving us. We want to stand and move on. The security wing are wasting their time. We will crush Zambia within two days.

  13. This GRZ is useless no hope at all if only bembas could know how to work and leave as one then the better but look at what they vomit, tongas and lozis will never rule zambia what rubbish is that, enough is enough rule yourselfs since you are rulers of others and more perculiar than us worse the chief satanist who is in state house fooled lozi people let him reap what he was sowing…

  14. What do you expect? The country is now being ruled by a groupd of people who have water in their heads instead of brains, maybe from eating too much monkey meat. Kennedy Sakeni doesn’t know the capital of the UK – he thinks it rotates annually between Birmingham and Liverpool – he thinks London is a country. You have Bob Sichinga who thinks reabsing the kwacha will strengthen it to 1964 levels, and he is Minister of Commerce. You have Mwamba, Minister of Defense, who is only now writing his Grade Nine examinations. You have your Minister of Information and Tourism whose best strategy is “to divert tourists from Livingstone so that they instead come to Northern and Luapual Province” and organises a national meeting of Permanent Secretaries to implement that. You can’t blame the Lozis!

  16. DIALOGUE DOES NOT ALWAYS SOLVE MATTERS ESPECIALLY IF ONE GROUP IS UNCOMPROMISING. RIGHT NOW THERE IS NO NEED FOR DIALOGUE. THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE IRRESPONSIBLE WHO SHOULD BE DEALT WITH DECISIVELY. WE HAVE TOLERATED THIS NONSENSE FOR A LONG TIME. THE GRZ SHOULD NOT SHOW WEAKNESS BY TREATING THESE REBELLS WITH KIDS GLOVEG. RIGHT NOW IT IS NOT EVEN POSSIBLE TO SAY THAT THIS IS THE WORK OF ALL LOZIS. IT IS THE WORK OF A SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST VOCAL AND BENT ON DISRUPTING PEACE IN THE PRETEXT OF BA64. THE PF GRZ SHOULD SHOW LEADERSHIP BY BRINGING ALL THESE CULPRITS TO BOOK. THEY LOOK LIKE BA NYAMURENGE OF RWANDA IN THE PICTURE ABOVE.

  17. So they’ve even started recruiting soldiers? Well, they better make sure their guns are bigger and more than those of the Zambian Army when King Cobra stops laughing and declares a State of Emergency.

Then we shall see where Mukamba, Nyambe & co. will hide when Western Province is sealed off and locked down in a curfew, when soldiers start to jump off their jeeps with the pin-file lowered and gunshots start ringing like a Motorola…

Word of advice: don’t play tough if you can’t back it up!

  18. The police are still asleep even in the face of this blatant treasonous activity. Are they waiting for instructions from the President as usual to do their job? These are the so-called professional police. RB would not have allowed this situation to degenerate to this level.

  19. # 15 That sounds more like it and a good advise too. The Bemba saying Goes like this”Umwana ekalisha ilyo anye chisushi” If what some people are hinting about the strength of the Lozis is anything to go by, then our colleagues are not to be trusted especially if they have been stacking arms somewhere? Then the real question will be where is our intelligence? they probably know more than we do and they are more ready than what our Lozi countrymen think. The only Solution left is for our Lozi country men to channel their energy into developing the province. Wars never bring any development to any region.

  20. Can Ukwa please quickly promise them something to distract them.

Mr President, you dont have to fulfill the promise in the usual style ,sir.

  21. People of the planet please listen!!!!!! Our Lozi people intend to arm-twist the government so that development may be shifted from other provinces to their province through threats of secession. The backwardness of their province is self inflicted because of selfishness.I have never seen an Indian in Mongu WHY? To cut the story short we are now conducting a census of Lozi people in the Zambia defence force so that we give them light duties while the rest of the Zambians take on the dull soldiers of Barotse compound.

  22. I’am itching for a war of annihilation against the bad and selfish Lozis so that we can forget about barotse. By the way has anybody asked the Litunga on his opinion over secession calls by his minnows? He may be behind these senseless goons.

  23. May be they have a backing of rebel sodiers of Angola, think of paying them after they mine diamonds and oil. Those old soldiers are thinking of the pensions they missuse. Be carefull. Another Nyamulenge

  24. Zambia can take a leaf or two from what Big Sam did to the other chaps from caprivi. These guys are disturbing the peace of our country.

  25. This is what happens when carelessness supersedes all – during the run-up to the last elections, the PF announced to the nation (through the Secretary General – if I remember correctly) that they were recruiting ex-soldiers. If it was okay for the PF that has since formed Govt., may be it should also be okay for any registered organization — please guide.

    • Wise Adviser, Im sure you know by now that PF is not a good example to follow on anything? Would you really consider Wynter Kabimba to be a sensible person, or one to be your role model?

  26. Some evil men in WP are sowing sour grapes vomiting evil words therefore putting other Good Lozis at risk country wide if you are a Christian and Lozi by tribe I urge you to come out and renounce this evil act or else you will reap in due course the evil ones fruit

  27. Let them watch “Hotel Rwanda” movie first.Do not allow these old guards who have nothing to do in life to contaminate our youth with evil intentions.War is no child s play,be careful of what you wishing for.
There are no trees or bushes to hide in on the Barotse plains when bombs start raining, beware

  28. There is no African Kingdom that ever benefits the ordinary people – Lesotho, Swaziland, etc. Just see those who were educated from Barotseland before 1964 – they were all from or connected to the royals – Lewanikas. The rest of you will just be Kapasos or send children as kapasos. WP is not developed not because Govt has negectled it, but because nothing can happen without involving the Litunga. Even Shoprite had a tough timeto set up in Mongu and land near a cemetry was allocated where they set up. So whom do you blame for not having a proper restaurant or hotel in WP? So many rich Lozis in Zambia but they too dont find land tenure policies favourable for investment. The Agreement will not bring development but slavery of other socalled “subservient tribes”

  29. Moving forward, what benefit does Zambia have trying to hold on to Barotseland? Lets no forget “Zambia” has far more to loose than Barotse. It is better to have two Nations forging a strong partnership than one nation being held together in”peace” by the means of oppression. Many arguments against the BNC call for succession sound so close to the arguments made by those colonialists that didn’t want to give you Independence. Eventually Barotseland will gain it’s independence it is my hope that it will be done in a peaceful many with strong relations with Zambia so that we can press on and be an example to the region and the world.

  30. i think us Africans don’t like peace;the people wishing for war i wonder whats up in their heads.war is not something to admire, easy to start but difficult to stop.

  31. Have these people ever even heard of the kind of Zambian soldiers who Dr Kaunda used to call my boys? They crashed the 1986 Copperbelt riots in just under a week. People that had toliets outside their houses started digging them. We were whipped left, right and center until the entire province pleaded for mercy from Dr Kaunda. The lozis seriously don’t want to face the Commandos. Ask Captain Solo about them and how they ran him down during his attempted coup!

  32. And the commandos who comprise some lozis of course don’t care about tribe. Whether one is bemba, ngoni, luvale, tonga, lozi you name it. When they come after you, they come after with only one intention, and that’s TO GET YOU.

  33. LIES AGAIN FROM UKWA. THE BAGGAR HAS SURVIVED AGAIN AFTER REMOVING HIS RIGHT TESTIS AND MBIGU HAS DIED INSTEAD.
THESE ARE LIES FROM THE COBRA. I MISS CHANDA CHIMBA, THE MAN KNEW HIM WELL.

  34. It is sad to talk about wars in a country where inter tribal marriages have overtaken the tribal thoughts. Man East, Man West, Man North and Man South, knows no tribe. Most importantly, we are christians. Zambians have formed this alrge group of christians, which serves as a source of peace in the midst of wars. Mwe bayaya, can we use the arm of Christ to continue delivering peace we anger tries to rule

  35. An Old Colonial says — I remember KK promising Barotse Province autonomy at independence in 1964. The Lozi should not look to the British to help them; they quickly washed their hands of any old agreements because they wanted out of “colonial” Africa, and like me, honestly believed Zambia could become as prosperous as Northern Rhodesia was in the old Federation of Rhodesai & Nyasaland. What a power in Africa that might have become!
But Barotseland did not have gold or diamonds or huge copper mines. But it has good farmland and food will one day become the new copper. That is why the Chinese are the new colonists and expansionists, they need to feed ( and export) their growing population. Beware Zambia & BArotseland – don’t take on new colonial shackles . God bless you all, D/
