T. Mathews (Tembo Mathews) is a Zambian Contemporary gospel Solo Singer. Born and raised in the eastern part of Zambia particularly lundazi and Petauke.
I did my primary and secondary education from there and moved to Lusaka where I obtained graduate Diploma in Marketing from Evelyn Hone College, I also posses qualifications in operations and change management. I was raised in a very dedicated catholic home at a tender age my parents Mr. Alfred tembo and late mom Grace Tembo trained me in a religious and God fearing way. I initially started singing in a youth choir at Njanji SDA in 2001 though was very shy to stand before audiences. My main voice was first tenor.
Starting to Sing on A serious note
Around 2003 I abandoned singing in a choir and opted to be very dedicated in pulpit and outdoor preaching of the word of God at church. It is this gift of preaching that led me come more close to the word of God, searching scriptures, creating sermons and bible lesson. None the less I used to fill so moved to a point of shading tears when a choir sings very well, in short something in me had a strong connection with music. I used to listen a lot to gospel songs and lucky dube tracks before I knew it I composed my first song in 2005 Munitenge which was produced by blazer studios in 2007 and played a lot on TV as a video. I decided to release my first album called –Thought of destiny in 2009 under super shine investments label. The album did fairly well as to build the name T.Mathews on the scene. It had notable high air waves videos like amen amen, munitenge and Mpeni amino.
The grace of God continued with me such that I met and shared experiences with big names in the industry then. This made me write more songs and set up my own studio called a TM studio which has successfully produced the latest album Panono Panono. On this album I have worked mainly with B Shop of cabin studios as my producer, Allan prince from Touch base adding his talents as well. I do not feature any notable names on some colabos instead I have new voices from Allan prince and Dexter who are very skilled musically.
New Album-Panono Panono
Panono Panono Album is a new sound, message and prayer in song in the industry that anyone can easily offer for themselves in their day to day life. The album has 12 Tracks with a number of genres to meet different people expectations though very strict on the character of gospel music. It has songs in the public domain now like, Panono Panono, Ingileni (new video released), lesa wachishinka, Mpeni amano remix. The album also has a social commentary song AKASEMBE which carries a message of you reap what you saw. The album has been released under super shine label again and can be found in all leading stores country wide. My music is inspired by a lot of things including though not limited to people’s lives, environment, the bible etc. I write my own songs though iam very open to ideas from colleagues in the industry.
New Video-Ingileni
I have a new video for the song INGILENI released about 14 days ago. The video has received lot of airplay and requests from people. The video and song talks about bad situations which are persistent in one’s life and then she calls on God in prayer to come into her life and intervene. It’s a song that takes one to review their life and realize how much they need God in this life. The video was produced from Lusaka by green apple media directed by akate and lemekani, while the script was authored and arranged by T.Mathews
Other Activities
Away from music which I do mainly in my free time, I work for MTN Zambia Limited as an Area Consumer Sales manager I have been around here for 3 years. In my further free time I enjoy spending time with family, construction and meeting with progressive friends.
Final Message

Hey, I saw them play with Iron and Wine in MPLS this past fall and they were great. They have a darn good e.p. that they put out for the tour thats very good. I belive you can find some demo MP3’s on their webstie (you could for a while at least, haven’t checked in a number of months)
