The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) says the leaving out of the controversial Barotseland Agreement issue in the first draft constitution by the technical committee erodes people’s confidence in the Patriotic Front government’s commitment to bring the matter to rest.
EFZ Executive Director Pukuta Mwanza says the move is contrary to the assurances made by government to deal with the matter through the constitution making process.
Reverend Mwanza says the Barotseland agreement is a national matter of high concern to the general public which requires an amicable solution.
He explains to QFM News that the matter should have been included in the draft constitution to allow Zambians deliberate and decide on the way forward.
He has since backed calls to have the agreement settled through the constitution making process stating that the issue is constitutional and can only be settled through the constitution.

We agree with you ba pastor. Please speak to that Ngambela (whatever his name is ) to take this opportunity and make his submissions .Otherwise he risks being the worst Ngambela to ever hold that traditional office.Let him bring the infamous BNC resolutions to Lusaka if he is brave.
Ba Pastor, read the draft, it say Zambia is unitary state, period!!!! If anyone feels that clause should be changed then let them make submissions.
non issue . zambia is bigger than that. lets move on .
yes ! give me Moise na Pie…
No popcorns please!
Good thinking. Please advise your dull President to learn to listen and cease the opportunity.
Makwenyani, this is the opportunity for all. Giving the president too much power is what we are fighting against.
It was a notable absence. My assumption is it is one to be either fought for or will be kicked forward for a different generation to ponder.
Once we are all through with reading the draft and dealing with what concerns our own interests it will be good to repeat the journey looking at it only from the viewpoint of those in society who are more vulnerable, less educated or who are less likely to be able to articulate their constitutional protections from places where communication sadly remains non existent. It’s so big a country we still have many disconnected by geography with disability, access to communication points or just financial concerns that might deem this more academic bla bla than an individual necessity to engage in. Just a thought.
Though it has not been mentioned directly, the barosteland issue has been dealt with in Part X of the draft constitution through the devolved system of governance.
Ba reverand the bible says “quesence avails much”I know you wanted to be included on the technical committee but it never happened. So you have been thinking of how to hit back at the PF.
My dear read the preamble of the draft constitution.Zambia took years to unite and so I cant sit idle and watch you planting seeds of discord by continually reminding people of the subject which is dead and buried.God help this man oh,I beg.
Devolution has resolved the BA64 by extending to all provinces instead of just one province. It is my considered view that all provinces especially the rural areas have had no development. This Mwanza was quite when he needed to advise the previous Government.
Well spoken Pastor, what makes Zambia is the coming together of Barotseland and N/Rhodesia. We cannot ignore this very important and complex matter.Kaunda,Chiluba and Mwanawasa all managed to handle this matter peacefully. This regime which seems to be failing in all fields in 6 months, we are experiencing fuel shortage countrywide, shame.
If Sata thinks those Loziz will let up, just watch this BA64 spark a vicious civil war in Zambia. It’s the endless lies and broken promises characteristic of this Tanganyikan Nwacusa mascurading as president that has brought this country to the brink of war. I sometimes wonder whether Sata knows the difference between the truth and lies? The lunatic must surely be mad in the head!
we dont care what zambians do with their constitution that has failed to accept barotseland as part of zambia.we will have our own consttitution we will be happy with.what zambians are doing with their constitution does not affect us atall.
unitary state, unitary state with who!.get out.
zambians from the north and east are highly tribal people and i hate these so called drivers of the country from the north and east. let barotse rule themselves u arrogant people full of nonsense.
@ Mama do not draw us into this tribal bickering. Easterners are the most loving Zambians. We have married Lozi’s, Tongas, Luvales, Chokwes, Lujnda, Ilas even when pressured we have Married Bemba women.
If EFZ want the BA64 included in the draft Constitution, then they might as well include Kafue Province in it too for those in Western Province who do not agree and do not recognise it as a legitimate document..
The real man of God has spoken again Mwana wa andombi kwamene kwasu ku kaumbwe nkhani yafwika pa kazenkaze chimbwi enyela ingo

Just when this issue was getting resolved in wisdom, Pharisees and saducees had to say some thing.
It is unnecessary to deal with the BA64 in the Constitution because Zambia has already abrogated it. It too late. Barotseland has gone its separate way. Zambia has to worry that no other province will want to break away again.
