Football Association Of Zambia (FAZ) has distanced itself from sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili’s directive for the country’s governing body to reprimand Herve Renard.
When asked over the matter, FAZ Spokesperson Erick Mwanza refused to be drawn into the discussion.
He stated that FAZ will not comment on the matter saying that there is a standing order and Policy on the mode of communication.
Herve Renard was unhappy with the travel arrangements made by the government for his team’s trip to Sudan for a 2014 World Cup qualifier.
Renard wanted the team to fly on a chartered plane from South Africa, where Chipolopolo had a training camp.
The African Champions lost Saturday’s game 2-0 having arrived on a commercial flight just the day before the match.

FAZ and Kambili dont seem to be clear about their roles here. Why is the ministry of sport involved in arranging transport for the national soccer team, a private entity. Is this not interference? The other time he even hijacked the africa cup celebrations. But of course FAZ won object to this if they are not footing the bill

Not everyone is a puppet Mr Kambwili, FAZ people may fear your ordained power,but if you cannot do something properly and expect results on the field you will and should be exposed. The coach has a responsibility to fulfill and he should get on with it without fear or favour. Making threatening noises to FAZ because the coach is being forthright and constructive just shows your immaturity or inflated sense of power.
We lost a football team due to complacency and cutting corners around transport issues, let’s not start that rubbish again. This is how big problems start.

The Govt had offered to arrange for the transportation of the African Champions but in a typical African way, they were interfering in faculties they know nothing about. The idea of saving money on chattered flights and 3days accommodation was a non-starter for them.

Zambia lost the entire team in a plane crush due to the same negligence. Herve Renard is very professional and obviously cares about the game and the welfare of his players. It is embarrassing for the country to treat it’s players like this and it’s not acceptable. The minister should shut up do his job and let Herve Renard express his concerns.
