GOVERNMENT says it has no ‘space’ to respond to former President Rupiah Banda’s son, Henry, saying appropriate channels are used to ensure that anyone facing charges is made to answer.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Given Lubinda says there is no need for Henry to dramatise his issue because government has a way to pursue someone who has charges to answer.
Mr Lubinda told journalists yesterday that Henry must be careful with what he says and avoid attracting attention for himself.
He said Henry should wait “until the long arm of the law catches up with him”.
“He should not drag government into what he is saying. We have procedures to ensure that those who are supposed to come to Zambia to answer charges are brought back,” Mr Lubinda said.
Henry finally broke his silence and vowed not to return to Zambia because he feels he cannot get justice.
He has instead dared police to travel to South Africa and interrogate him from there if they feel they have a case against him, following a red alert issued against him.
Henry has been linked to oil supply companies stationed out of Kenya and his name has also been mentioned in the sale of Zamtel.
And Mr Lubinda said government is giving active attention to the extradition of former diplomat Attan Shansonga.
Mr Shansonga is wanted to answer charges concerning his actions when he served as a Zambian diplomat.
Mr Lubinda said officers are currently shuttling between Zambia and Denmark pursuing the matter.
Meanwhile, Mr Lubinda said Zambia will resume diplomatic operations in Libya once that country undergoes a smooth electoral transition to usher in a stable government.
He said the withdrawal of the Zambian mission and nationals in the Arab country is temporary following the civil war that engulfed Libya last year.

Dude, with all these remarks and warning you have just responded. What part of “not responding” don’t you get?
I also wondered about this.
Yes, I agree, lnfact, if Henry feels he is innocent, let him and that Rotten Lawyer of his travel to Zambia, with all the western media for publicity so that if there will be any breach in kjusctice, it will be covered and dealt with.
Otherwise Henry kbnows the truth of the matter and the truth is that he is a criminal, who once in this country, will be arrested and will also be denied bail because he has shown that he cannot be trusted to stay within the confines of the country once given bail.
Just like what has happened to Attan Shansonga, the same will eventually happen to him. Ask Saviour Chungu, its just a matter of time, just a matter of time, till he comes calling home.
Paya farmer.why did you wait before announcing to the nation that henry is wanted.he has given you a challenge tell him the crime he has committed and he has furnish you with where he is.the problem with pf the act without thinking.please concentrate on improving people .’s lives.90 days past long time and people are still wait for the promises or just lies
Lubinda is Foreign affairs minister and responding to Henry who else can do that talking about govt has no space to respond to issues raised by Henry. That’s what happens when a govt is full of unschooled party members. Lubinda should have been in Ghana representing Zambia and couldn’t reason with Sata since everthing hinges on Sata with PFgovt. Instead he pre occupies himself with issues tha are already receiving active attention. Pathetic failure of this type in governance is unfair on Zambians.
its realy funny how this henry guy thinks he is safe in sa where the likes of lucky dube met their fate. i am just saying fox, and may be because i know sandton aint heaven, there are lions their boy for mugabe. think about it before you disappear.
Any body worth their salt knows if Henry was really guilty he would have been charged already.Remember PF questioning and seizing Thandiwes properties then going quiet, remember the Mpundu trust? why are they quiet, remember the claims MMD printed K3 trillion fake notes…..also the PF and Police and DPP are quiet.IN fact that statement was something DPP should have been concerned about as it had the potential to distabise the country.
PEOPLE WHO ARE INNOCENT DNT RUN AWAY FROM THEIR COUNTRY, LET HIM COME BACK HOME.
Henry Banda’s “Open Letter” actually cast the TRUTH on the minds of many Zambians. Henry’s letter was crystal clear in the revelations of the fine detail many Zambians did not know – especially that his own late Mother was a Bemba (May Her Soul Rest In Peace). As usual the PF govt hurts the TRUTH. The fact that Henry, who carries some Bemba genes, has criticised the rampant tribalism perpertuated by the Bemba PF politicians, is actually having a greater impact on Sata’s administration. . Apparently, Chinua Achebe has written a fine book titled: **THINGS FALL APART**. Rumours sugesting the demotion of Guy Scott and Alexander Chikwanda’s request to go into diplomatic service is just a tip of the iceberg. Given Lubinda is merely struggling to fight with his own CONSCIENCE.
go back to school or at least read the book! imbecile
Lubinda, exactly what charges is Henry facing? You id.iots have been advised by Amsterdam and Mr Chikane the South African High commissioner to zed to formally charge Henry with a crime, it is only when Henry will avail himself to your arresting officers. All you’ve been doing upto now is carry out a cheap propaganda and defamation campaign. You foo.ls are not fit for purpose
.
Henry, those are bold words. “Chimbwe pakulila, pali apo ashintilile”. My free advice, dont dare the system. No human being is squeky clean; after a cavity check, some crime residue will be found on you. Dont bring the spot light and attention on yourself.
You should just have said “no comment” instead of saying you won’t comment and then you say lots of sensless stuff in response to Henrys letter to the people of Zambia. No comment means my lips are sealed or in your kaponya language it means “don’t kubeba”
With tear gas canisters being thrown in police stations; who would want to be near the police in Zambia. Ask HH.
Please excuse this tourist attraction Lubinda because he is not properly schooled and in PF anyone can be a government spokesperson.Whatever these CNP guys say its all about intimidating opposing veiws, when are they going to bring hope to the Zambians in their messages? They are simply blank in their heads of what to offer.
But you have responded Hon Lubinda, can’t resist the temptation can you?
Shade some light here, can’t the gmnt agree with sa police to arrest henry and bring him back to zed,if its possible why don’t they do so?unless their case is not strong.if he has commited a strong crime let interpol bring him in.
What about the deported priest bo Lubinda? Why talk about Shansonga and not the priest?
#8, HENRY’S WANTED REASONS HAVE GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH TRIBALISM OR RACISM. HENRY IS ON WANTED LIST OF ALLEGED THIEVES. NO ONE WILL SYMPATHISE WITH HENRY BECAUSE HIS MOTHER IS BEMBA. HIS MOTHER COULD HAVE BEEN ANYTHING. BUT, FACT REMAINS THE SAME THAT HENRY AND HIS FATHER (+) WERE STEALING FROM THE POCKETS OF ZAMBIAN.
Lubinda and his boss Ukwa Sata should admit there is no case against Henry,if they have what is the charge? The South African are willing to exndite Henry to Zambia if there is a prefered case agaist him, but what case?
Just wait. sata’s thick family forest will outdo Chiluba and Banda’s deals, then HH will take over and arrest Sata and save the nation.
