GOVERNMENT has described as unfair and unjustifiable accusations by the Oasis Forum that there is no Government goodwill over the Constitution-making process.
Chief Government Spokesperson, Kennedy Sakeni said yesterday that the accusations were surprising because the Government had not only committed resources to the Constitution-making process but had facilitated broad-based stakeholder participation.
Reacting to allegations by the Oasis Forum that Government was slowly losing political will in the process, Mr Sakeni said the Government was surprised at accusations against it from the Oasis Forum on the Constitution-making process.
“It is unfortunate that the Oasis Forum has chosen to attack Government in the media and has left many people wondering why they are so quick to antagonise Government on an issue that is non-controversial.
“This is because the process at the moment is in the hands of the Technical Committee tasked to draft the Constitution and Government has not even given its position yet,” he said in a statement released in Lusaka.
Mr Sakeni said the Government did not want to interfere in the process but wanted to allow the Technical Committee to do its work, and also Zambians to fully participate in the process.
He said the Government found the accusations that it lacked the goodwill over the Constitution-making process unfair and unjustifiable given that it was a matter to which the Government had committed resources and allowed broad-based stakeholder participation.

Hon. Sakeni is doing a very good job as a government spokesperson. Wel said Sir
you should be serious at times. Why praise sing when it is clear that this man is allergic to critisms or any form of advice.Think before you comment
cant be surprised this government is crap..
Just because Sata appointed a lot of his cronies and the catholic fathers you call it broad based? You dont mean well for our country, you are too selective
Rubbish .we need constitution 90 days .if you want to be praised get on working however if we see something wrong we will condem.
Shows how far down we ve gone…..how can one praise such nonsense. One of my close friends once said any gvt is as good as or as bad as its voters
“process at the moment is in the hands of the Technical Committee tasked to draft the Constitution and Government has not even given its position yet”
I would say that qualifies for lac k of political will. We should know government’s position or else they will try to sneak in issues at last minute
What an ugly man
Sakeni, that picture, were you giving your daughter away for marriage to an unwanted man, then why are you so annoyed on the picture. Improve your image man, smile for the camera.
@8. Crusher, are you blind? Can’t you see that the honourable minister is smiling? That is the way he looks when he is smiling!
