This Edgar Lungu is an embarrassment not only to the President but to the nation as a whole, and seriously, should be either sacked or demoted.   If the minster is going to work drunk, other employees, especially civil servants will start reporting for work drunk, or drink on duty. You can’t make sound or sensible decisions under the influence of alcohol, because when you are in a drunken stupor, your brain or your mind’s functionality is totally impaired. Mr President, get rid of this overly excited Lungu before he causes more harm to your government.

19. Zambia Watchdog got the who story right. They reported that the former CFO of lapgreen zamtel had been deported to Pakistan. The post, Times of Zambia and daily mail chose to report the lies and nonsense from their regional and tribal pf government. Shame on you
    . Nkole is also very foolish. Why should you apologise on behalf of another person. Or is an admission on nkole’s part that he was part and parcel , indeed author of the deportation lies! These bunkums have no decency!

    We have many expatriates who hold regional roles in their respective organisations and hold multiple work permits. Are we thinking ba PF?

    • Holding multiple work permits should be legal. The issue is where is law stand on it? Somehow AG has litely become silent. Is he still in the office?

23. Good that government has apologised, though it should have been better for the same Minister who misinformed the nation to apologise. These things happen and apologising is normal. How I wished some opposition leader who misinformed the nation can equally apologise.

I think is was a wise move to let the PS apologize in order to avoid further embarrassment because the minister, Edgar Lungu looks unstable, sheepish, dizzy and confused and could easily make things even worse. He is not suitable for such a sensitive ministry which includes security and immigration. I agree with Jay Jay @ 6 that the president should fire the minister first thing on Monday morning.

36. Very good comments by all of you but has anyone given it a thought thatsince when holding of 2 different countries work permits become a crime. Most of the people who work for big groups have more than 1 work permit as they have to travel to different countries. I am sure that Lungu and Nkole owe another apology because this complete activity is milicious and we will take them to international court. Down goes Zambia. This was done as it is becoming obvious that they have to pay USD 480 Million compensation and the PF Govt. want to hide their blunder.

    My first thought upon reading the headline was that this was yet another complicated sequel in the ZAMTEL case. 

    However, it turned out to be a fairly normal occurence in which somebody happened to mix up names that are not indigineous. Not that it’s an excuse but Edgar Lungu is far from the only one who has committed the “crime” of mixing up names.

    I think every African who has lived in the western hemisphere can tell stories of how often his name and personality has been mixed up with that of other Africans. And then I also heard of a reporter who was fired for using the letter “S” instead of “B” in “Obama” when reporting about the president in a radio show.
