VICE-PRESIDENT, Guy Scott says the North-Western Province is a very important economic region and no longer a ‘Cinderella province’.
The Vice-President made these remarks when he officiated at this year’s Chisemwa Cha lunda traditional ceremony at Senior Chief Kanongwesha’s palace in Mwinilunga yesterday.
Dr Scott who made his fourth trip to the province in two months disclosed that President Sata had delegated him to frequently visit the province.
Dr Scott said apart from huge economic potential, North-Western was also culturally very rich and that he was very proud to be given the responsibility to visit the area regularly.
The Vice-President said there were a number of projects taking place in the province less than one year since the Patriotic Front (PF) government took over.
He said government had created Ikelenge district and several other districts would come in future.
“I want to assure you that we are committed to the development of the province, the district and the chiefdoms. We’ll never let you down as a government,” Dr Scott said.
Meanwhile, there was near confusion when alert security men briefly manhandled young submissional soldiers who surged forward towards the Vice-President as he was completing his official opening speech.
The youths who had small axes had moved forward to go and give Dr Scott the axes as a token of appreciation.
It was later explained by an official from the chiefdom that the gesture was the Lunda way of showing appreciation.

The “VP” is now indirectly campaigning for Mufumbwe. The people of NW should not forget what “UKWA” called them as “Ba Nyamazai”. Take it personal if I where You, becuase if you had to call the people of Northern as “Bakabolala” they would never forget nor forgive you. Be wise and don’t be fooled North West, you don’t lose anything as its the job and responsibility of any given and elected government to take development to all the people of Zambia, despite their political affiliations or tribe unless they are an irresponsible and sellfish government.

The Zambezi source is not part of the area to be visited during the 2013 tourism as no minister or goverment official is talking of the Keleni Hills,the source of Zambezi river.
Visitng traditional ceremonies is not what the people want.only 2 districts are connected to the national grind,,Poor road infrastrature,the only province without any bus at the three(3) Nurses Training Schools,No training school for Registered Nursing,poor maize marketing.

It is true that Sata has already given two Universities in his home land and nothing for NorthWestern Province. Why not a university in NWP wich has such huge developmental resources. What was the criteria of Sata giving universities to his natives? He attended Umutomboko because and gave his relatives Universities. I do not see him going to NorthWestern Province for ceremonies because they are nothing to him. Abush Sata and Viva NWP. Don’t give them a vote in mufumbwe because they will plunder the whole province and develop Muchinga. Theeeeeeee
The people of NWP have been asking for relocation of Solwezi to either Munfumbwe or Kabompo. But this man SATA remained silent but was very quick yo divide Northern and Muchinga Provinces and even create more Districts during Umutomboko but he can’t do that for NorthWesterners. Him and now his best friend KK who was responsible for the slow development NWP should know that the people of that province will liberate themselves very soon from this plunder, It is a matter of time.
