Share

A joint team of Police officers from Mongu and Kalabo districts have arrested Barotse Freedom Movement National Secretary Mulaiskwanda Chazele who has been on the run.

Western Province Police Deputy Commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi disclosed the development to ZANIS in Mongu yesterday afternoon.

Ms Kamukoshi said Chazele was arrested around 15:00 hours in Mwandi village of Kalabo district where he has been hiding after police launched a manhunt for him following the tearing up of about 500 copies of the Draft Constitution booklets in Mongu two weeks ago.

She said at the time of his arrest, Chazele was found chairing a meeting in a house at a village located 40 kilomitres from Kalabo Boma.

Ms Kamukoshi further said that Chazele will be jointly charged with the 15 other Barotseland activists currently undergoing trail in Kaoma district for alleged malicious damage and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.

On 6th September this year, a group of unruly Barotse royalists tore up about 500 copies of Silozi draft constitution booklets in front of Mongu District Commissioner stressing that Western Province was no longer a part of Zambia hence there was no need to participate in the ongoing constitution making process.

  1. The DRAFT is not a binding document. I can assure you that some of those pages will be in some latrines across the country not only in western province. In fact it is unwise to write the constitution in local languages. If you have been to our courts you will agree with me that English is the language of our courts. Besides, if people cannot read the English version, they will not read the vernacular version. I am just saying.

  2. make sure the chap is dealt with because he is xtremely stupid, we are all from western province but we can never support the barotse issue which is supported by hungry politicians who want to cause foolish trabo in zambia.

  3. My supervisor is Lozi. So i will only take this truggle by Lozis serious when i see my boss resigning from the Zambian Gvt, pack his bags and leave for mongu

  5. All of you bloggers think that this issue will die natually. Barotse has made their minds and they will countinue (soilder on). Its just the beginning of freedom. SHIIIIIIIIIII. Dont Kusaba. Dont

  6. When you are doing something wrong just remember that days are numbered before the long Hand of the law catches up with you and your wrong deeds. You can run but you can’t hide. Unser certain circumstances even your parents, relatives or friends can help disclose where you are hiding. So be careful in your pursuites.

  7. Thats Treason! Not breach of peace imwe ba police… you are using kid gloves on pipo who want to tear a country apart, get serous what breach! Treasonable offence it is……..

  8. please can we start asking all the lozi’s employed by the state government to resign and go back home id thats the case. very foolish people. starting with all those in government

  9. That man should be told a very good lesson that he shall live with all his life. He thought he was doing a favour for the people and yet he was acting on his own. So let him face the law so that others should learn from him that stupi.dity does not pay. Good work well done Zambia police.

  10. I hope this Barotse activists episode could one day come to its logical conclusion…innocent pipo being used by selfish politicians…njala IZAMUNYOKOLA chazele.

  11. #6 That document whether in draft or is binding document the fact is that public funds were used to print and transport the document. You were suggesting that it cannot be a case if you damage any govt property before commissioning, which is not correct!

  12. About time they are arrested. This is Zambia. One Zambia, One Nation, cheap politicians, were given ample opputunities but miserably failed the people by burrying their money in SAND.They were enjoying at peoples expenses. Wake up.

  13. One Zambia One Nation is a slogan taken from two nations uniting. Barotseland and Northern Rhodesia. Watch your words on this forum. Zambia will be too small for your guys very soon.

  14. This issue aside, are there any plans to engage with the Western province as regards feedback on the draft constitution or is that the swish of a carpet brush as everyone pretends to be busy doing nothing. Innocent blinking eyes rewriting history daily with a hint of whitewash. Excuse me while I bury my head in the sand…ooo hello there…spitting sand…move up guys…so many talking heads under here… :)

  15. Time wasters, others have started reaching the planet Mars whilst you still struggling with backwardness, the 1960s issues. Separatists must be treated so. No different from the notorius late Mushala. After he died normality returned to North Western Province. You only need catch a few, just a few, the insigators, and peace will reign in our land, when we shall be talking of developmental issues in all corners equally. May be the ones that you have collected are not even the ones at the core. Get the ones at the core and the team will realize that something needs change in their mindsets.

  16. The Zambia Police are very good at a few things. beating up unarmed civilians and following instructions from PLOT ONE. the question i have is why are the POLICE not arresting the PF chap who did the same crime last time as far as i know proof is there in pictures black and white? Bloggers ask yourselves that question and see how impartial and tribal you are?

  17. ## 31,

There is nothing tribal arresting a person who violets the law of the Land. The person you are talking about why didn’t the MMD government arrest him? Whom should you blame for not arresting the one you are alleging to have committed the same crime? Is this not confirming how the MMD raped the law of the Land? Any way those unwise activists should be told a good lesson in order to deter would be offenders in future period.

  18. May God intervane. We all have the image of God. We are one before God. Let us love each other. God is our father. We all have one origin. Let us pray to seek God’s guidance. God help us in Jesus name. God you are a fair God.
