Fourth President Zambia, Rupiah Banda, today visited Zambia’s founding President Dr Kenneth Kaunda who is recuperating at a private home in Lusaka and urged all Zambians to pray for his full recovery.
President Banda said it was sad that after losing his wife Mama Betty Kaunda last week, Dr Kaunda had had to fall ill.
The former head of State appealed for continued support and respect to the first family who were going through a difficult period after the demise of Mama Kaunda who died in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, last week.
“After visiting Dr Kaunda, I can see that he still needs to recover fully. My appeal to all my fellow citizens of this great country is that we should continue to pray and offer our support and respect to our founding President and first family,” President Banda said.
The former President arrived at the private residence at 10:38 hours and was immediately ushered into the room where he found Dr Kaunda resting in bed under the observation of a nurse.
After chatting with Dr Kaunda for about 10 minutes, President Banda walked out and was met on his way out by Acting Zambian President Alexander Chikwanda who had just arrived to visit the former President.
President Banda and Honourable Chikwanda had a brief chat before the Acting President proceeded to see Dr Kaunda who was discharged from the University Teaching Hospital.

So even if you cry over spilt milk, he will NEVER be president again and will remain in history as the ‘shortest’ term president. No wonder he keeps on visiting the funeral house just to go and cry his soul out. I was baffled at the way he was sobbing the other day. Pretender, what was he sobbing about? Some people still calling RB corrupt when no charge has been laid upon him or his family up to now. The story of Thandiwe allegedly owning hotels in Malawi and Tanzania has proved to be false but Ukwa gives himself a 100% salary increase, takes over RDA so that his bululus can benefit from the issuance of road contracts whilst the first concubine, the overweight Kaseba is abusing the use of the presidential challenger jet and yet people still think the sun shines out of his sick arse. Kaunda and his family have betrayed RB but the man is big enough to put all that aside and provide support to them whereas vindictive Ukwa is hell bent on tarnishing people’s names with the tag of corruption without any evidence at all.
While the simple minds have digressed from the article, I have to agree with you in that the simple minds continue to firmly believe in the lies that the post, in partnership with the PF, fed them by splashing headlines in their print media. If indeed they were as big a scandle as they made you believe, the allegations would have been substantiated long before now! And a list of court cases in progress.
The only reason RB is surviving is because his childhood friend Micheal Sata does not want to lift his immunity. If you want the truth and want RB caged, keep taunting Sata and see what happens once his immunity is removed. KK betrayed RB for NO reason. RB is NOT vindictive. I dont remember RB ever cancelling all rallies for SATA the way SATA is doing to HH. Sata used to isnult RB daily. But RB remained cool. Today UKWA is the biggest anti democracy activist in Zambia bent on reducing the MMD & UPND Power for his own good.
