President Michael Sata has arrived back home from New York in the United States where he had gone to attend the 67th United Nation (UN) General Assembly.

The President arrived aboard a Fly Emirates plane that touched down at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at about 14:50 hours.

He was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Given Lubinda and his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chellah.

Mr. Sata was received upon arrival in the country by Acting President Alexander Chikwanda, Vice President Guy Scott, Patriotic Front Secretary General and Minister of Justice Wynter Kabimba, Defense Minister Geoffrey Mwamba and service chiefs.

Others were Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu, Gender Minister Inonge Wina, Lusaka Province Minister Colonel Gerry Chanda, Lusaka Mayor Daniel Chisenga, senior Government officials, PF Senior officials and hundreds of PF cadres.

The cadres flashed placards with congratulatory messages in honour of the President’s South to South award for which he was honoured in recognition of his contribution to the social, political and economic development of the country and also for Zambia’s attainment of the US$750 million Eurobond.

The cadres mobbed the President while dancing and singing songs of praise for his achievements from the time he became head of state as he went round to great them.

While in the USA, President Sata made his maiden speech to the UN General Assembly, made a statement on the peace building initiative and held private talks with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

The President also met more than 40 US business executives who he invited to invest in Zambia.

President Sata also attended high level meetings on various issues among them the rule of law.

Mr. Sata was also awarded with a 2012 South-South award for his contribution to the social, political and economic development of Zambia from the time he was a councillor in the 1980s to the time he became President last year.

First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba, Foreign Affairs Minister Given Lubinda, Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Bob Sichinga, Tourism and Art Minister Sylvia Masebo, his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chellah and other top Government officials accompanied the President to New York.

  1. Welcome back home after lambasting Europe and America as imperialists especially to accuse Barack Obama as an agent of imperialist is to say the list shameful for Zambia. Every nation is aware about the roles America and Europe play in this world. To go to the UN and talk about imperialism on behalf of Zimbabwe when Zambians need development and sharpening our democracy which should have been the foundation of Mr Sata is again a lost opportunity as he’d done with a porus presidential speach to the nation.

    • you must be a really miserable person -l really pity you -dont drink from the poisoned well at the watchdog and your life will be much happier

  2. Zambia needs a think tank. Many such trips were made by FTJ, LPM and RB but nothing tangible to translate into industry and jobs for the common folk. India and China on the othr hand seems to have provided results. That not to say the West is insignificant. The 750 usd bond(which we need to be very careful with and avoid addiction to to this prescription) was raised in the West. Food for thought?

  3. # 1, I am not sure how may people Sata had in his delegation, but compare the  40 members  the President of Malawi had in her entourage to the UN.

  4. What a wasteful president who went to an unproductive joyride with a huge delegation. He should have stayed there and seek political asylum.Sisi tunataka rais mwenye fikira za watu, anayependa maendeleo na mwenye elimu ya shahada ya juu ili aweze kuangalia shida za zambia bila ukabila na ujinga kama huyu jambazi wa bemba.

  5. #2, THERE’S NO DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA. DON’T BE CHEATED. OR MAYBE SHOULD WE SAY THERE ARE NO HUMAN RIGHTS IN AMERICA AS OPPOSED TO DEMOCRACY.

  6. at times i wonder how many people at home read through these articles as compared to some of us outside the country. i hardly see local comments on this site. to me this means that access to internet back home is still a challenge although i heard that the award of president Sata includes the improved internet access back home. Anyway, one issue about Zambian politics is that media, cadres and everyone else sing songs of praises everywhere for you but when you are out of power you are nobody, isolation and insults follows you. lets see how the Sata administration unford

    • I dont see why people back home need to read here(LT) they simply buy the new papers and read them instead. At least that’s what i do when am mostly home. I would buy the Post, times of Zambia and Daily mail, listen to Radio stations news etc and discuss with friends. Yes it may sound expensive every day buying the paper but its almost the same amount if you went to an internet cafe or you can use internet at home. I prefer reading the actual paper, i believe many find it that way too.

    • I agree with you Trigo,That is the reason why we laugh at some people who set up websites of which they are the main bloggers and at the end of the day they claim to be popular.

    • Good observation, at least I travel between Zambia and the UK and when you see some comments from bitter people who are not even based at home (Zambia) you would think Zambia is on fire. The picture painted by some bloggers in the diaspora is so bad such that when you are home it seems like they were talking about a different country all together.

    • most flags posted against our names are wrong. e.g, i have never set a foot outside zed but lusaka times seems to think i have.

  7. You mean we are still that foolish to send people to go to the airport to welcome a president who has gone to do his job! Do people do such useless things!
To go and stand in the sun to recive a king or chief! It’s only Zambia were such useless things happen!

  8. My president welcome back home safely. Ours is to respect the authority as it is our duty. Mr President sir, you really made us Zambians proud. Please continue working hard as you develop our country which was raped by people who shared our money and companies through privatization. The guys do not have shame to even start bragging that they are rich….but you sir try by all means to restore the lost glory of Zambia. Remind you Ministers not to steal as the MMD did. May God bless you Sir…Amen.

  9. BA LT! WHY REPRODUCE THE SAME PARAGRAGH THAT CONTAINS THE PEOPLE THAT ACCOMPANIED THE PRESIDENT,TWICE? ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE THE LIST LONGER AND APPEAR LIKE HE WENT WITH HUGE DELEGATION. [-(

  10. the president was supposed to spare time for us in newyork, new jersey and connecticut .iam sure he got scared to answer tough qns from the diasporians.next time when you request us to see u,we will not show up.

  11. You would wish to congratulate the president as he has drastically reduced delegations that accompany a head of state by 50% relative to RB..i give him a thumbs up on that one but thumbs down on all other things.Hez an inconsistent Br..t

  12. The President Sata failed to meet about over Zambians who wanted to see him on friday 28 September 2012. Some people drove all the way from Boston and Philadelphia only to be told that the President is not able to see them. I think the media needs to give an explanation. Next time we wont even bother. The man is luck we kind of like him.

  13. people on this bog. most zambian me inclusive are happy with MCS. only you guys overseas find or have a problem with him. secondly everytime a zambian flies out of KK int. you become master of this and that or PHD holders.I was in NY during this time and to tell you the truth nobody want to do something for the country. all of you want somethig from it,without putting. so that why locals dont conment on the bog.the amn with score, but not alone. we need to put in the efforts. am one of the people who wants to work hard and make zambia better.

  14. #4 Lutu, ****** niwebo nabanoko bakufyele!! #11millsz.com , we read,we comment,we blog. You people in diaspora Just talk! As stated by#23zsca, we are so happy with SATA!

  15. ….held private talks with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. Out of the over 100 Presidents who were at the UN Sata only managed to hold private talks with Mugage!!!!! What does that say about what the other Presidents think of Sata? I rest my case.

  16. Sata did not label Obama as an imperialist . He said Mugabe did not clap for Obama as he regards him an imperialist tool. If he did not go you the same people were going to blast him. R B travelled like a tourist and most of the delegates were his relatives . So I think it is a good development.Zambia delegation was the smallest going by the foreign media

  17. so what did the President say when he arrived back? What message has he given us after being out for some days?

  18. Iwe #23, some of us have employed people in Zambia. What have you done yourself? Good that Sata had a small delegation this time. Why is he still being welcomed by so many people at the airport who are supposed to be working? Didn’t he say he did not want many people welcoming him? No wonder we don’ t develop in Zambia. We are at the airport everyday while work suffers.

  19. No 24 you are not a normal person , you insult our President, you can even insult your father, shame to you. You just shows your stupidity. I hope you will stay where you are for ever, cos the day you step in Zambia you will meet the medicine of your stupidity.
Mr President thank you for all what you have done for our mother Country and we thank God for keeping you well and bringing you home safely.

    • All politicians -Head of State or not- are subject to criticism and ridicule!! If you think the language used is provocative…then you should have a look at British & American papers to look at how they depict their leaders!! FYI, Bush II used to be labelled as “Hitler” due his Iraq War…kinda makes calling someone a “tribalist dog” quite moderate!

  20. So you No 24 you stay in Botswana, I will look for you so that I can teach you some manners and pump some senses into your stupid head. I will really find you.

  21. # 24 the president is older than your father HH you must learn to have respect. And you the so called Diasporas you are failing to distinguish between failure and success. I believe a person should be successful in his own country but as for you you failed and went abroad as economic refuges. I believe when you come back here you will have nothing to do with the useless degrees that you get in the USA. Please leave the Pres. alone and know that we shall never be praise singers of imperialists but as for you you are scared that you will be chased ba fikala.

  22. Exposure to prolonged flying hours is not HEALTHY but they wont tell you that.
with your tilling HEALTH i don’t support but i don’t want to be involved in the long
dangerous thuggery campaigns brought about by your SATA wanna bees. just advice take it or leave it. Dr kaseba is still young you make her vulnerable and available to college boys.
