Chief Government spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni has charged that Movement for Multi Party Democracy(MMD) president Dr. Nerves Mumba should be realistic and learn to appreciate.
Mr. Sakeni said Dr. Mumba should appreciate the achievements that Zambia has recorded under the leadership of President Michael Sata adding that the Patriotic Front government has managed in a few months it has been in office to do the things the MMD failed to do when they were in power.
Commenting on Dr. Mumba’s assessment PF government’s one year in power in Lusaka yesterday, Mr. Sakeni told ZANIS in a telephone interview that the Patriotic Front government has done tremendously well compared to the MMD government which he said personalised government institutions citing the media as one of the institution that was abused at the expense of the public’s right to know the truth.
Mr. Sakeni said that it was too early for anyone to judge the PF government adding that most of the programs that have been done are a continuation of some projects that were started by the MMD to allegedly hoodwink the voters but that the Patriotic Front government is working towards finishing such works for the good of the people.
He said the PF government will not wait for election time for it to deliver to the people like the former ruling party which he said only worked when it was election time.
He charged that Dr. Mumba and the MMD should be the last ones to comment on the operations of the media today saying the media is today free than ever before in the country.
He also charged that during the MMD rule the opposition parties was never given a platform to air their views like it is today apart from being given the negative publicity by the then government controlled media houses.
Mr. Sakeni said the MMD should also take note and appreciate the major achievements that the PF government has made citing areas such as education, health and the road infrastructure which are currently receiving total rehabilitation while other will be constructed from scratch.
He said these development will open up the rest of the country to development.
Earlier yesterday Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) president Nevers Mumba accused the Patriotic Front government of having failed the Zambian people.
Dr. Mumba told journalists in Lusaka that the only thing the PF government has achieved in the last one year has been the enactment of the Abuse of Authority Clause.

Perhaps the opposition, church and civil society should seek authoriy from the DPP to commence proceeding via class suit (The People) under obtaining pecuniay advantage by false pretence under s309 Cap 87 (Penal Code). This will bring the matter of false promises by politicians to res judicata (a finality in law). Thereafter, according to precedent we shall as citizens either hold to account or just agree that we were duped if a politician were to lie. This is the crux of the matter on the 90 day promise; “more more in your pocket, lower taxes and more jobs”. Our jurisprudence not to mention our democracy can only improve when the Courts rule on ‘The People v MC Sata and others’ on a matter of false pretence(s).

It is sad for Nevers Mumba because is the only Zambian who has never seen development. The MMD failed lamentebly and now we are seen future in Zambia. Our children are given hope, it would have been better for Nevers to be quite than talking things he does not understand. Nevers is proving to be very dull amoung all the political players in the world, just recently when he became the president of MMD he asked for the Zambian people to forgive the MMD for the wrong they did more especially corruption, today is saying the MMD have done very well. No indigeneus Zambian would want to hear about the MMD any more.

Free advice to you @samu and the ruling party – work hard, improve people’s lives and all the talk about you will end. I heard Never’s say he would not want PF to fail as this will ultimately affect all Zambians. What is wrong with pointing out your mistakes? Are you some kind of angels? On the issue of corruption, PF should be the last party to crticise MMD – PF supported Chiluba until when he went back to MMD. Now we have all kinds of issues of corruption within PF. Lets not cheat ourselves, politicians world over make promises that they fail to deliver. A good example is Obama. If Nevers could point to statistics such as ‘when MMD was in power unemployment was at X%, now it is at Y%’ showing an increase in unemployment maybe we might just listen to him. Can he point to a single achievement that MMD made when he made was Vice President.Â

90 days promise is prophetic and all should learn to take it so. In the Bible there is something like 7 learn years and 7 fat years. Its metaphor. Sata gave a metaphor but little brains take it literary. Sata has a bigger picture for Zambia than those who condemn him for the 90 days promise. Ba Nevers can not do what Sata has done. Just on Districts no one would ever have thought of it apart from abiding by colonial status quo. Sata is original. I am convinced he will deliver more in his term/s than many did. Sata’s vision is like that of KK. KK would have done well but for liberation struggle cost in support of neighbouring countries. Look at it this way, Sata ditched KK in 1991 but we just learnt at mama Betty`s funeral that Sata`s father was a shibukombe to KK in 1946. You remember the unpalatables that KK mentioned in 1991 when Sata defected to MMD? Do you see how they have bonded well now with KK`s son(s) being included in the govt. If RB was related to mama Betty, and RB was very close to FTJ, what does that tell you? Nevers is a Chinsali boy where all these have some links. Where does Chipimo and Edith come from? Sata and Sakeni were also part of MMD for ten years! In fact MMD started performing when the likes of Ukwa and pig farmer Scott and Clueless Cluo left. Was it not Ukwa who hounded out the likes of Nawakwi out of MMD because they did not support the third-term bid by Chiluba? In fact Ukwa has been also been in UNIP, so whatever rot there is in Zambia, he is partly responsible for and no amount of denying will change that fact. Bottom line Ukwa said 90 days but he has failed lamentably. In fact he has not managed to fulfil ANY of his promises – need I mention the Chinese ‘infestors’, or windfall tax or the constitution we are still waiting for, Barotseland Agreement, small government, hiring of professionals and not cadres?

Nevers’ press briefing is intended to help government. My humble advice to government is that they use what Nevers has said and prove their critics wrong. Being bitter with those in the opposition and with whatever they say will not help the government. While people are still with you prove you can be trusted. A critical opposition is good for our democracy and development.
Sakeni has used too many words where few would suffice. For one thing, his statement should not include “MMD”. MMD is not in power, MMD is not even MMD!
Sakeni’s statement should have been simple and to the point:

2 – Unending COIs
3 – Renamed Lusaka Int’l to KK Int’l
4 – Re-shuffled cabinet
5 – Re-shuffled districts
6 – Re-shuffled cabinet

8 – Re-shuffled cabinet
9 – Appointed unqualified cadres and relatived into crucial positions
10 – Blame MMD for all problems
