Youths in the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) havs said that Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba should not wait for the Anti Corruption Commission to conclude investigations in his corruption allegations for him to step-down.

UPND youth national coordinator Brian Mizinga has said that the two cabinet ministers, Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and his Defence counterpart Geoffrey Mwamba should instead step aside on moral ground.

Mizinga said that considering that the ACC is controlled by the executive, there is no possible way the commission can bring out any evidence while the two ministers are still serving.

He told QFM that it is only morally right that the two ministers resign on their own and that if the corruption allegations leveled against them are not established, there will be nothing wrong for them with being re-appointed.

Yesterday Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba said that he is ready to quit as minister if the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) finds concrete evidence to prove that he influenced the awarding of the oil procurement tender to Trafigura.

Mr Kabimba who is Patriotic Front(PF) Secretary-General said he would not hesitate to quit his position as minister of Justice should the ACC establish traits of corruption in their preliminary inquiries on allegations that his company received kick backs in the process leading to the awarding of the oil deal to Trafigura.

Mr Kabimba told journalist in Lusaka yesterday that he was happy that the preliminary inquiries by the ACC were based on media reports saying the Commission has not yet written to him regarding the matter and that he was ready to cooperate once approached.

Mr. Kabimba stressed that it would be wrong to expect him to quit on mere media allegations, whose veracity and genuineness had not been established, as this might set a precedent where some unscrupulous people might take advantage and start raising groundless claims for the purpose of forcing innocent leaders out of their positions.

He added that he had accepted to serve in government for the sole purpose of helping the country and its people strengthen good governance, and promote equitable justice, democracy and development for all Zambians, and was not about to depart from these ideals.

“I am glad that the ACC has stated that the allegations are based on press statements. I can assure you that as soon as I receive those allegations from the ACC, not through the press, I will not hesitate to call it quits,” he said.

He urged the ACC to pursue their investigations vigorously and expeditiously and tell the Zambians the truth about the wrong doings he had allegedly committed.

“I want to assure the nation that as soon as the allegations are proven to me and they go beyond what is in the press, I owe the people of Zambia to act exemplary and step down as minister of Justice,” he said.

The Minister said he would not be influenced by media reports to quit his position to pave way for investigations.

  1. Kabimba clinging on to his JOB so that the monkey interfere with the probe. Step aside so that u prove yourself innocent as for now u goon u are guilty. The allegation did not come from the opposition but from PF that is why they are serious and different from the mere accusations.

  2. Drunkard: I hear Wynter maize Kabimba is being hounded out of cabinet. Is it the Opposition instigating rumours about his corruption?

Bar man: No it is not the opposition, it’s PF itself and it’s Govt (the PIG) that is telling us that Wyter Kabimba is very corrupt and recieved kickbacks. he recently travelled to ASIA to recieve it.

Drunkard: Did he share with Ukwa the loot

Bar Man: Ofcourse, they need money for Mufumbwe Campaigns and for more money in their pockets.

  3. I SUPPORT THE MOVE.WHY SHOULD YOU WAIT FOR INVESTIGATIONS.QUILTY ONES ARE ALWAYS AFRAID.SATA IF YOU ARE A MAN OF ACTION CAN YOU DROP THESE TWO PEOPLE AS THEY ARE MAKING YOUR PARTY VERY UNPOPULAR.
SEE THE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE POEPLE WHO VOTED FOR YOU.IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFULL YOU WILL BE THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE WORLD.
PROVE YOUR MANHOOD MY DEAR PRESEDENT.

  4. Article 18 of the constitution contains provisions on protection of the rule of law and rights to a fair trial, which are relevant to the law of evidence, including, presumption of innocence (Art 18 (2) (a). And remember the case of Woolmington v DPP of the young 21 year old lad who escaped the noose by three days!!??? Wynter is a lawyer and not a moralist; he will not resign. Watch.

  5. as the allegations are criminal in nature and by Wynter stating that , “……………proven to me and they go beyond what is in the press…….”, he is asking for the normal threshold of evidence i.e. beyond reasonable doubt before a trier of fact and that is the Court of Law. So he wont resign until he is has been successfully prosecuted by Mutembo Nchito (DPP) and found guilty by Court of Law (Justice Department). NO CHANCE!!!!!!!!!! Dont quit mwanokwesu aba manyukunyuku want to eradicate Tongas. We support you the highest ranking Tonga in PF Government.

  6. If the head is rooten it follows that the whole body is rooten so is the whole pf rooten! HH & Upnd is the way forward for restoration of the Zambia’s economic & social sanity. HH alllllll the way, indeed “Yes we will” & HH is the man of our times & generation.

    • But come to Zambia and help him to campaign, otherwise forget it man. HH is not known in Lusaka and copperbelt.

  7. #7 Clement, I agree. A fish starts rottening from the head. And the poison of a snake is in the head. The only problem is HH versus the rest maybe except Milupi. You know why? It is the same family tree you are looking at except our dear under 5. So they will make it difficult for him unless he ventures into polygamy and gets one of their sisters so that he is part of the complicated family tree. I does not matter which polical party they may be masquerading.

  8. Look at it this way, Sata ditched KK in 1991 but we just learnt at mama Betty`s funeral that Sata`s father was a shibukombe to KK in 1946. You remember the unpalatables that KK mentioned in 1991 when Sata defected to MMD? Did you see how they have bonded very well now with KK`s son(s) being included in the govt. If RB was related to mama Betty, and RB was very close to FTJ, what does that tell you. Nevers is a Chinsali boy Where all these have some link. Where does Chipimo and Edith come from? I am not being tribal but simply saying look at this web. Besides and for your infomation I also have some links with Chinsali. But these are politics at play and one has to do some permeatations. It is infact somes beyond politics and seeks to protect the personal interests of the inner circle.

  11. Why should it only be resigned, why does he not say, I am ready to be arrested and tried by the courts’

The country is a a joke and so are its subjects

    I will never return back

    Thanks

  12. Thats the spirit Mr Kabimba. We know that some people are jealousy and are fond of making wild allegations with no ground. Don’t resign but wait for the findings from the ACC.

  13. Guys hold your fire ACC has not started investigations yet. So it is only fair if investigations start for all of us to call for these guys to step aside.

  14. PF and MCS! I salute you! No sac-ride cows. Serious with fighting corruption. A sign of good Governance. Kabimba & GBM, don’t resign but stick to your words until the right time then step down. Don’t listen to these UPND carders the tribalists. Mukose ba UPND. Ukutwala umuntu ku state house tacayanguka iyoooo!!!! Worse, your President is just too bitter!

  15. Mare allegations. Why haven’t the three judges in principle or sakwiba sikota, all the corrupt mmd officials etc. Why pick on the PF to do that? Is it because the corrupt are trying to weaken the fight against corruption by throwing allegations at people like Wynter who have shown a commitment to fight this vice at all costs. Whatever happened to “everyone is innocent until proven guilty?”

  16. Mr Kabimba came in Government less than a month, how is he involved in corruption, do you mean he was not suppose to run such a business, it would have been may be wrong if it happened now when he is in business. lets leave him and the PF to put things in order than trying to label them with wrong tags. I feel these are just political gimmicks of the MMD, For the Church and NGO and Other civil society study the case before you comment, leave them to politicians who speak anything that comes their way even when they dont have the truth.
