Power Dynamos coach Beston Chambeshi has tipped new call-up Mukuka Mulenga to excel if given chance to feature in Saturday’s 2013 Africa Cup qualifier between Zambia and Uganda.

The promising Power midfielder is one of the two late inclusions in the 24-member Chipolopolo squad ahead of the crucial return leg qualifier at Namboole Stadium in Kampala.

Chambeshi said the Under-20 attacking midfielder deserve a call-up to the senior squad.

“Mukuka Mulenga is a young man who is coming from a big team and he has played at the higher level. The young boy deserve to be in the national team,” he said.
“Given chance he can play we can’t rule him out,” Chambeshi added.

He however acknowledged that Zambia needs experienced players against Uganda.

“But the game against Uganda is a big match. We need players with a big heart to play. We need players with a character to change the game,” Chambeshi said.
The youngster is in the 24-member Chipolopolo squad that is flying to East Africa on Thursday.

  1. It stupid for a footballer to call himself by another footballers name. Just like musicians are not supposed to call themselves by other musicians names!

    • this usually happens when fans liken you to a reknown player and is not shameful at all. Otherwise, what would you do if you were in mukukas shoes.

  2. we definetly need players with experience and are not easily intimidated. am sure beston, if given a chance, would have recommended sitali instead of mukuka cos sitali is now ripe for big games.

  3. Am I meant to believe that #2 is behind in history. He calls himself ‘Livingstone’ which is certainly not his real name. That name is called nichname. Nick names have been around for quite some time now i.e Ucar, Gentile, Wawa, Kapilipili,Castella, Golden Banks, Live Wire,Yellowman, Abaleya, Commando, to name but a few and list goes on. So “Dyingstone” just shut up and concentrate on tommorow’s game.

  4. Whatever they do and who ever they field 2moro we dont mind but we are very pregnant with expections of a baby boy…to reach the africa cup finals as Liwewe would put it.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  5. #2 It iz often supporterz and not playerz themslvez that coin theze foolish meaningless nick-namez. What iz more agonizing iz when reporterz and media houzes adopt theze expressionz like they are part of playerz’ namez. It iz simply a question of inferiority complex and or lack of self confidence. Great playerz in Thiery Henry, Messi, Zidane, Goerge Wea, Rooney, Klinsman, Kalusha Bwalya, Rodger Milla, the Ronaldoz to mention but a few didn’t need to change or add anything to their namez…

    • Ur Wrong my boy, C. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Adedi Pele, are some of the big names in football who adopted nick names!! Lets not spend our energy on this petty issue, we need to support Zambia “Chipolopolo- a nick name” at this crucial point.

  6. I have watched the boy play, he is game.If given chance he will stand up and b counted.ze coach features the same players without looking at consistency.players like Felix katongo have not perfomed 2 my expectations. The last tym he impressed me was when zambia played against the Pharahos in cairo. That game ended 1-1,zambia equalised thru a header by a defender 4rm power who is currently playing 4 TP Mazembe.

  7. @5. Shikulu. I am not a Missionary Explorer whose decided to call himself by another Missionary explorer’s name! Use your head, Muppet! Do you get the drift.

  8. What is wrong with one being called Deco by his Fans? If there is anything wrong with this then all you people who call yourselves by white peoples names should be ashamed of yourselves because you have accepted to be addressed by slave names.
