Kitwe United continue chasing promotion when they face Zesco Luapula in Thursday’s delayed Faz Division One North match at Kaole Stadium in Mansa.

This match was one of the mid-week fixtures postponed by Faz due to Wednesday’s National Mourning government declared in honour of ex-Community Development Minister Stephen Manjata who was buried on the same day in Kaoma district.

Kitwe are reported to have left their base on Monday and only learnt about the cancelling of midweek games on Tuesday when they had arrived in Mansa.

Zesco Secretary Lewis Kapesa confirmed that the delayed match will take place on Thursday after the two teams agreed in collaboration with Faz.
“Yes, the match will take place on Thursday. You know Kitwe United are already here.”

Zesco host Kitwe three days after recording a rare 2-3 away win over Kansanshi Dyanamos.

Fifth placed Kitwe who are five points behind second placed Kalulushi Modern Stars have 48 points.
League leaders Lime Hotspurs have 68 points.

  1. Chipembele Police FC wishes Zesco-Luapula FC all the best as they play Kitwe United. We also congutualate them for teir new gained form as we wish then all the best in the remaing games so that they remain in Division One.

  2. Wish it was saturday, anyway even Thursday pa Kaole chilalila… Kitwe United will go and tell it all, that Mansa is more lively than CB.

  3. Chipembele Police FC wow…. reminds me of those old good days in Mansa, the likes of Mansa wanderers, Lima dynamos, Spark FC, Medics FC, Samfya rockets & Kashikishi warriors…..go boys go….

  4. When I was a young boy growing up in Buchi compound in those years far off gone, Kitwe United was a people’s team. Every time there was a match at Buchi stadium, all roads from chimwemwe, kamatipa, race course, kwacha, bulangililo and kapoto would lead to the stadium, filling it to capacity. I remember players like Golden Shipunga, Luka Mulenga, Luka Lolozi, Jack Kafusha, John Lumbwe, Nelson Mwenge and veterans like Mike Tembo and Joseph Mwepu. Small wonder I still have a heart for the team!

  5. Sadly, Kitwe United have been missing coach “Big Jim” Lawrence Mweemba all because of administrative politics where a woman administrator wanted to dictate what the coach needed to do because they paid his salary. Cant wait to get back home and give Big Jim and Kalulushi a booster.

  6. After all has been said and done, the two teams shared the spoils ; it ended 1 – 1 in Mansa . Surely with that result, if or is it when Kitwe United fails to win in Kalululshi come Sun 21st october 2012, then it’s over over for the zebras (Chingalika) .
