Miyanda is chocking with envy at the realization that Sata is President of Zambia-Shamenda

Share

HERITAGE Party president Brigadier-General Godfrey Miyanda

Acting Information and Broadcasting Services Fackson Shamenda has charged that Heritage Party leader Godfrey Miyanda’s “rantings” over the Patriotic Front (PF) Government’s one year in power is an indication that the former Republican Vice-President is still injured, bitter about and chocked by the victory.

Reacting to Brig Gen Miyanda’s assessment of the PF Government’s one year reign which he recently described as a joke, Mr Shamenda said it was clear from the Heritage Party leader’s statement that he had for a long time considered himself as a far much better leader than President Michael Sata.

“That is why President Sata’s ascendance to power a year ago definitely must have chocked General Miyanda whose political fortunes have seriously dwindled over the years.

“It is clear from his rantings that General Miyanda is still injured and bitter about the PF’s victory. His tone in the statement is that of bitterness and frustration. General Miyanda is failing to come to terms with the fact that Michael Chilufya Sata is now Head of State,” he said.

Mr Shamenda admitted that it might be true that the PF Government had not done everything to the expectations of the citizenry, but that describing its one year in power as a joke was malicious and out of order.

“In fact, it is General Miyanda’s statement which can rightly be said to be a joke, bad one for that matter as it cannot attract laughter from the readers because objective Zambians can attest to the fact that though the sailing of the PF boat has not been without challenges, a lot of good things have been achieved for the country,” Mr Shamenda said.

Mr Shamenda added that it was not shocking to see Gen Miyanda being bitter against “some objective leaders” like National Restoration Party (NAREP) leader Elias Chipimo and his Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) counterpart Edith Nawakwi.

He observed that Mr Chipimo and Ms Nawakwi were criticizing and praising Government when it was due, saying that was how it ought to be.

“To suggest that nothing has been achieved in the last one year by the PF Government is being economic with the truth.

“We are aware that General Miyanda’s rantings against the PF Government are because he is chocking with envy at the realization that Mr Michael Chilufya Sata is the President of the Republic of Zambia, but in all presidential races he (Gen Miyanda) has only managed to harvest devastating losses,” he said.

Mr Shamenda said the nation was aware that Gen Miyanda was synonymous with so many concepts, citing the Village Concept, in a bid to convince them he was the only man “capable of being their savior”, but that the citizenry had always viewed him merely as an “armchair”
critic.

“Perhaps General Miyanda is viewing the PF Government’s one year in power from his simplistic Village Concept which every right thinking Zambian has failed to appreciate.

“In his desperation to win votes, he has even tried to sell himself as a man of God, but that again did not earn him the necessary votes to see him into State House. Clearly, this is a General who has tried everything, but all what he has touched has failed,” he said.

Mr Shamenda wondered if the Heritage Party had followers or it was still in existence, adding that he was hopeful that Gen Miyanda would heed the warning from chief registrar of societies Clement Andeleki of de-registering non-performing political parties which only resurfaced during elections and go into “slumber” afterwards.

The Labour Minister further charged that it was a known fact that Gen Miyanda had allegedly been deserted by most of the members of his party thereby leaving him a “lonely man” in the Heritage Party.

“For a man of such credentials as General Miyanda, it will do him good to keep quiet and reflect on his own failures,” he said.

Gen Miyanda was recently said the one year PF rule was a joke besides welcoming Mwandi MMD Member of Parliament (MP) Michael Kaingu’s decision to tear President Sata’s opening speech to Parliament.

  1. Romney is dying with envy on the realisation that Obama is US President! Milliband is bitter because Cameron is British Prime Minister! Please PF leaders and your sycophant followers grow up and act like civilised leaders. Your Stu.pid and childish rehearsed responses of bitterness and envy are downright embarrassing and idi.otic! Why do you find it difficult to counter other Zambians views about your governance with well reasoned answers and not these Stu.pid responses of yours? Disgusting low life plebs!

  2. What an answer from the govt. A govt which is supposed to be issue based and objective, sounding like a teenage girl.
“chocking with envy”??? Words from yo govt? Shame.

    • Politics in Zambia is about power an character assassination. Every Political leader wants to go to state house for him to contribute to national development. If people are issue based in their campaign, Zambia would have been developed by now.

  3. Shamenda is piece of S.h.it. does criticism amount to bitterness. how many times did Sata loose elections? he showed alot of emotions but no one called him bitter. elections are like football you win some and loose some. they won this elections on lies and they are going loose the next one that is when they are going to know that there is nothing like bitterness. lies have just caught with you mr Ape

  4. We always sympathize with the general, but really his utterances recently have been gotten with mixed feelings. I equally think he did not use better terms to describe the one year of PF in power. But we understand that the general has never had kind words for Sata and those two have a serious political background. But it is important for these so called leaders to move on. It is very important to criticize but people must note the problem and most preferably offer advice and solution not just yapping!

  5. This is a great example of what in philosophy  is known as

The Ad Hominem Fallacy  or Argumentum Ad Hominem

Basically You attack your opponent’s character or personal traits instead of engaging with their argument.

Very entertaining to watch things you see in text books play out in real life.

  6. NAANGA ABA NABO BA “MANDA MANDA ” BANAUKILA MANDA YAKUTI?BIYUGADIYA….WHAT? NI CHINGWERE? HE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW WHATA EURO BOND IS, GDP IS ……………..BA MANDA MANDA I THOUGHT MWALIFWA KALE. HOW DOES THIS GUY EVEN CRITICISE EVEN THE REGISTRATION OF SIM-CARDS BY ZICTA? IT SHOWS YOU THE LEVELS OF MADNESS IN THESE OPPOSITION LEADERS.

    • You Chi Hamiyanze, you are a very foolish convict. Just wait and you will realize one day that PF is just using you. You will walk namapatapata iwe. Take it easy and be careful. We are watching every inch of your moves.

    • John, keep watching. You guys in opposition behave like we are not all Zambians. Instead of crying over spilt milk, you people should concentrate on educating the mass voters about your policies and what you will do different from the PF.

  7. General Miyanda’s selfishness nd pride hav finished him. Now he cn only look on wth bitterness nd envy… So sad 4 th General….

  8. Shamenda, we did not even know that you existed yourself until Sata picked you from the toilet. & this word “bitterness,” is it the only word you have in your vocabulary to describe your opponents? You even describe Chipimo & Nawakwi as progress politicians! How stupid!! Chipimo & Nawakwi are compromised politicians who received a some dollars after they accompanied Sata to brazil. I can assure you that Chipimo will not get any serious votes outside Bembaland. He will share votes with his fellow tribalist Sata.

  9. The truth is Brdgr Gen Mr Miyanda seeingly appears his own man but no sharp at reading the moods of other people rightly. He is a very trustworthy man but appears rigid and it has been difficult for him to work with other politicians! His party is now a shell but has never thought merging or abandoning his party and join another. He can do well in govt but hid own stance has kept him on periphery. Sir, change and work with others. Going it alone has not worked for you so far and for suere you shall remain a minority opposition leader for a long time! Come on Miyanda join others, you can do better instead of one off outbursts from you. Be flexible, adaptable and willing to change with times. May be that is yout basic problem!

  10. Shamenda has proven himself to be dull again, his failed to answer the General’s critics but his decided to chicken out of the Topic and dive into the sand head first into their nest of arrogance resorting to words like envy and bitterness.

  11. Embarassing, stupid, uncivilised, disguting statement, Mr Shamenda.  Mr Miyanda has every right to air his views about PF governance, and that should not be taken as “envy” or “bitterness”. Just goes to show that your mind is preoccupied by petty thoughts of people being “envious” of you lot instead of concentrating on serving the people who put you where you are now.  I cry for Mother Zambia which, in the right hands, would be a prosperous country with happy citizens, and not only a minority few.

  12. Only a fool would not want to hear Gen Miyanda’s advise; i read his statement word for word and he left no stone unturned..The Gen made sense unless PF does not want to listern or to be criticised..How many times has The Gen spoken or criticised for Shamenda to refer him as Bitter, envious…Yaba

    • He is not God remember and he’s a disgruntled failure for a general. Life is about changing with time, not building castles in the air. Are you telling me everything the PF has done in one year is wrong? Come on fellas, lets get real.

  13. On registration of simcards the general did not get it right. Today, go to UK and USA, all simcards are registered. Any phone network provider gets all details about  their network phone users. You can buy a simcard anywhere, you can have multiple simcards if you want but the bottomline is all information about you is kept once you want to use the simcard to connect with network provider. The world today has gone crazy. What used to be human wrongs are now humab rights! Terrorists are everwhere and they rely on mobile communication and that how some are cornered. Things are not as yesturday. Its now a global village. Good and Bad have all advanced. Thats why rregistration of simcards is very essential. In fact we are too late in Zambia. Quick, register simcards now!

  14. Ooops!!  The people who put this lot where they are now, the PF cadres, are already being served by this pathetic government.  This government should be serving THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA and not only the people who put them where they are now!

    • I never came where I am because of PF. I am where I am on my terms. I sympathyse with PF, know how Sata has fought his way to the top, genuine hard work and he means to do well for country. He is stirring the nation to development. Most others are dreamers and they are just noise makers rumble rousers but will ever never be Zambia’s president. That’s the difference, man.

    • Floyd, you has said it well. I am in the USA and living on my own terms. If I fail or succeed, that’s my problem. The hatred for the PF is most of the time without reason. It’s just pure hatred period, and like you said, most of these haters will never rule the country, at least not in our life time.

  15. The General, like all other citizens and indeed opposition leader has every right to comment on the state of Zambia under PF, his description is not far from from the truth given the circus controlled by the ring. Master in state house. Communication is very important, and the General has touched on a simple yet important matter of the so called MCS not addressing the nation since ascending to power, all the nation gets are statements through the immature, kindergarten standard mouth piece called George Chella. The nation has a right to know what plans the president has for the people rather than globe trotting and half the time embarrassing the nation by his conduct on these foreign trips. The man does not even have the time to steady his capsizing canoe given by his silence on PF sagas

  16. How does Gen Miyandika operate his Heritage Party one wonders if its a one man army or something of that sort. The man has many ideas but seems to content with himself. The man to me is a straight jacket.

  17. Shamenda should grow up and understand that plural politics is about political discourse. Zambia has become worse than Uganda under Idi Amin where rights of citizens are abused every day. The British Prime Minister is questioned every Wednesday by opposition leaders and he gladly answers to concerns of the electorate. It has become the PF government’s official position that every person who opposes the policies of the PF is described as bitter with President Sata.  This is the same defence of “bitterness” the mediocre PF government advanced against HH when he questioned the viability of the US$750 Million Eurobond. Not every Zambian can worship a despotic regime; so far the ones worshiping sata are those people receiving hand-outs from him. Shamenda grow up.

  18. I thought Shamenda Fack has brains but this is shallow and exposing how stupid in all fairness the man is. Zambians, Bembas and Lozis in particular, should now learn that voting should be meaningfully done. Voting these dictators into power was a joke itself. If they have any achievements, then all proper response would have been to compare every criticism with how they have scored not empty childish insults from a man with grey hair but no grey matter.
How can PF claim that they are top performers when they can’t even pay farmers within their first term and first year in office? What kind of performance is this where the president does not and can’t address the nation at all? Shame Shamenda

  19. Shamenda should not attach the character of the General but the argument put forward. But, why do our leaders in Zambia fail to reason, surely?

  20. @23. PF Political Fools. What have Lozis done? 2011 election results were won by the MMD at both Presidential and Parliamentary level in Western Province. 11 seats went to MMD. 4 UPND. 2 PF. 1 seat went to ADD. My dear check your facts before jumping to conclusions.

  21. Very few have what it takes to be a country’s president. In Zambia Sata is one of the special ones. Whether by accident, planning, manipulation, coup, or heritage, anyone who becomes a leader among so many has special attributes that many other don’t have. Look at the list Miyanda, Mwila, Akashambatwa, Chakomboka, Mumba, Hikainde, Nawakwi, Sondashi, Chipimo, Shamwana, etc none of this gallant names became Zambia’s president, why? To be repinlican president is not a trivial matter, it takes alot, much more than simple brains can comprehend. Christians call it God given, Moslems have what they call it, hindu, scientologists, pagans etc they all appreciate that to be a national leader is not that simple. Its  matrix you may fail to grasp.

    • There is nothing glamorous about being a President of Zambia. It is such a health risk; see how RB, FTJ, Levy ended up. There are many capable people who could have steered the Country to better route, but have chosen a quiter life. Having your jackets torn apart by Kaponyas’ as happened to Magande is no cup of tea for many people. If Zambian politics had been centred on decency we would have seen many players joining the arena.

  22. Beloved LT. The word is choke, choking, choked. Rhymes with broke not block. We can keep ignoring coz we love y’all but please make an effort :)

  23. I am happy that LT has brought Miyanda here where people can make comments, unlike the Post where it is nearly impossible to comment.

I was saddened when I read Miyanda’s news in the Post. The man should now retire from active politics. He messed and missed his opportunity for Office when he failed to utilise the support we gave him in the run-up to the polls that saw PF and Heritage Party contest for the first time.

  24. Insoselo, behaving like students. You running a nation please talk like a leader not like a Lumpen. This is not students politics.

  25. IS THE HERITAGE PARTY STILL IN EXISTENCE? I THOUGHT IT DIED OR SOMETHING. TRULY, BA MIYANDA IS A SERIOUS FAILING GENERAL. I THINK HE SHOULD JUST CONCENTRATE ON HIS KA CHARITY KU KABWATA.

  26. The Guilty will always be defensive?? What a shame that Shamenda can use such words, PF LEARN TO TAKE CRITISISM AND DEVELOP ON WEAKNESSES, Maybe you should listen Moe than being reactive. Fact is Miyanda is a much better leader, of which if Zambian leadership was not about Greed and Theft, you would expect the President to reach out to people like Miyanda. PF leaders we have now are proving to be a Joke. They are not serious and will fail Zambian people. WAKE UP SHAMENDA GET AND SERIOUS. AS ZAMBIANS WE WANT TO SEE CHANGE PF PROMOSED.

  27. If Shamenda is intelligent enough he would have reasoned well enough about what the General said. His point was that PF cheated people with their 90days slogan which they cant accept. He is questioning the government about job creation, the constitution etc and only a fool would see such criticism as envy.

  28. The General is asking you Shamenda and your friends to be accountable to the promises you made to our people. We are not stupid to criticise govt. The General’s cries are everyone’s cry. He is speaking for people who you hear.

  29. Imwe ba General: simcards have to be registered these days. Of course your apparent ignorance on this issue may stem from the fact that, unlike other politicians, you have chosen to be confined to the locale; if you were to even jaunt to any of the sorrounding countries you would be required to produce your identity to register your simcard for you to be able to communicate with anybody from that country, using a mobile. Sorry, ignorance is no defence, in this, and many such matters, general!

  30. The Brig Gen is an eunu.ch because he snoozes a lot and has no strategy the chap only comes alive two weeks before Polling day; thank god my beautiful country Zambia was not at war when he was in the Army with those 5 stars on his collar as the sleepy chap would only have woken up when the enemy had reached Cairo rd and was heading towards State House.

    • Brother, he was only a one star general and an administrative one for that matter. He never ventured into combat like the late three star general Christon Tembo. That’s why he yaps without thinking because he’s very self centered. We don’t need this kind of mentality in a national leader. Look at all the offers he was given to be VP and chose not to take them serve for a brief stint under titus kkafupi mpundu, all because he just wanted to be president despite not being presidential material.

  31. HH,MIYANDA and any one who tries to challenge PF , are bitter, jealous, envious, of Sata .
Please Ba PF learn to engage in a reall issue based debate we are tired of the same words

  32. How can the PF afford to be more irresponsible than the opposition by dismissing everything as envy or bitterness? Being in charge means “developing the nation” and part of that brief includes nurturing a culture of issue based debates.Being in charge means you be more responsible so you won’t be unseated from power.Surely, its the small PF mind that dwells on people but great minds think ideas.

  33. Anyone who read what the General said cannot fail to detect a tone of bitterness in the General. I read the full text myself and I know the General personally and it is very true that he is unhappy about the PF’s ascension to power. The General has not really accepted the fact that the PF is in power and Sata is the president of Zambia. I think it will take him a long time to accept these realities.

  34. The problem with Fackson is he is too personal. The General never talked about the Republican president but the PF govt performance. So it means every time PF lost they were bitter. Honourable be issue based and not personalize. Show him what you have done e.g creation of district, province etc and indeed these have been planned money wise this. As him to be patient and observant.

  35. is bitter the only word PF party members know. everything with them is bitter. you question them, ninshi you are bitter. am sure even my post will be reacted to as bitter. you also address Gen. Miyandas questions and observation without bitterness.

  36. BRIG GEN MIYANDA IS NOT AS PETTY AS MOST PF MEMBERS. HE IS A MAN OF SUBSTANCE. YOU ARE LUCKY THAT ZAMBIANS CHOSE MEN AND WOMEN OF NO INTEGRITY! (WITH DUE RESPECT TO GUY SCOTT AND LUBINDA).

BRIG MIYANDA’S TIMELY WARNING NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.

  37. This ‘bitterness’ charge from PF meted on anyone who criticises them is indeed becoming monotonous and speaks volumes about PF’s lack of substance. What’s even more astonishing and disappointing is for a Govt INFORMATION Minister not to have information on the fact that ALL developed nations on earth were founded on the basis of the Village Concept, albeit using a different name. To be honest, Mr shamenda is in a wrong job and President Sata will do well to ‘realign’ him elsewhere because he is rubbishing development in rural areas and in turn rubbishing PF to 60% of Zambians.

  38. What PF should do is respond to each point of critique raised against them in a mature and humble way. HH, Milupi, gen. GM always point out issues that they feel need correction. PF should simply listen and if they don’t understand they should seek private audience with the opposition leaders. Eg. HH has said we need to increase tax collection from the mines rather than focus on get external depts, that needs to be addressed.

  39. Ba Miyanda you speak like u have just woken up from a deep sleep. Ask yourself why your performance in previous elections has been so poor. Its because Zambians dont see leadership qualities in you. FTJ dropped u from Vice president to an Education Minister, Why?

  40. There is no need in attacking Miyanda as an opposition, there is need for him to evaluate the performance of PF, I personally think he should do it often, Don’t under estimate him, he may not have a large following, but that does not mean, he can’t do better than Micheal Sata, given an opportunity, he can do justice far better than the current

  41. General Miyanda analysis of Pf government is power for past one year is myopic and illogical. The Pf government has brought back the Abuse of office law and brought about fear to abuse resources and General Miyanda describes it as a Joke??

Its unfair and general needs to apologize, perhaps Miyanda is still haunted  by the fact that it is Sata being National Secretary of the MMD who removed him from the MMD together with Edith Nawakwi.

Time passes and life moves on so General must allow by gone go.

  42. G.Miyanda and other opposition leaders can talk but no one is better than H.E president Sata. We should appreciate when we are blessed with a hard working leader who always want to see progress. Fellow Zambians lets rally behind such a leader, God gives once the next leader will be a disaster.

  43. surely when people tell lies and become leaders ,no one wants them to be held accountable for what they said . 15 bags of fertizer, 90 days constitution ,road built within 90 days , we as electorates we are asking these question and those Mr.miyanda has asked .Please let our government answer to the questions that we ask and not that we envy what they are.
