Mbesuma Scores Brace For Pirates

Share

Striker Collins Mbesuma has maintained his scoring form for South African club Orlando Pirates.

Mbesuma grabbed a brace in Pirates’ 2-0 win over Black Leopards in the Telkom Knockout Cup pre-quarterfinal match on Saturday.

According to Kickoff, the ex-Roan United marksman headed Pirates in front just after six minutes finishing off a Lehlongonolo Masalesa cross from the right wing.

Ten minutes to full time, Mbesuma completed his double when he finished a Ndumiso Mabena low pass to help Pirates move into the last eight.

A minute earlier Mbesuma hit the outside of the post.

And Chipolopolo forward Jonas Sakuwaha scored twice for Sudanese giants Al Merreikh as they edged archrivals Al Hilal 3-2 in Saturday’s Confederation Cup final Group A game.

Sakuwaha’s brace helped Merreikh to storm the semi-finals of Africa’s second tier club competition.

Al Hilal have also qualified to the semifinals after finishing second despite the loss.

  1. i hav never doubted the power of mbesuma. its not a secrete that kalu/renard hav never given him enough time to prove himself again like its been done repeatedly to the likes of felly. who knows SA 2013 we may just need him.

  2. Jonas Sakuwaha needs to be a regular for Zambia National Team.No need to doubt him as he is a good striker and Midfielder.

  3. Hey! I was in the stadium, and I tell you we are wasting time calling up some European based palayers that are only warming up their teams’ benches there. Mbesuma has not yet regained his utmost fitness level, believe you me he’s hot, difficult to dispossess of the ball and still ever skillful. Chipolopolo may need him at AFCON especially that he’s accustomed to the conditions here!

  4. We need Mbesuma, Singuluma (TP Mazembe)  and  Sakuwaha in the squad for the team going to AFCON RSA 2013. Renard must stop his childish behaviour of blacklist some players. Many Zambians, I included  have not been happy with the way he has all along been embarrassing Mbesuma to the extent of taking him off the bench then substituting him-that is very painful! The strikers mentioned above are way above sharper than the current batch in the likes Chamanga and felix the coach keeps maintaining in the team.

  5. Just imagine having Mbesuma, Singuluma (TP Mazembe)  and  Sakuwahas in the starting line up as our striking force, being backed by Kalaba in the forth coming World cup and AFCON games. Even Ghana can fall at their home turf.

  6. Noah Chivuta, must not find space in the team again, we ve enough cover for that position in Nathan Sinkala, Thomas Nyirenda, Francis Kasonde and we have the attacking midfielders in Rainford Kalaba, Isaac Chansa and Chisamba Lungu, so surely we don’t need Chivuta who says he’s 28 years old yet the wife Violet is 34 having born in 1978.
we equally don’t need Chris Katongo, Clifford Mulenga is by far a better player in that position, in the same vein young brother Felix and James Chamanga should never find themselves on the road to the SA 2013. Our striking force should compose of Emmanuel Mayuka, Jacob Mulenga, Jonas Sakuwaha, Collins Mbesuma and given Singuluma.

  7. People why do we say bad things about Chris, the lad has always been there for country. Are you just unhappy because of the houses he has built? Grow up

  8. I feel flix has a better game than his elder brother chris.i agree with people who have said lets use singuluma, cliford, mbesuma, jonas ad jacob mulenga but we need william njobvu his also a gud player,i feel our coach has put wax in his ears.ad some people I feel flix has a better game than his elder brother chris.i agree with people who have said lets use singuluma, cliford, mbesuma, jonas ad jacob mulenga but we need william njobvu his also a gud player,i feel our coach has put wax in his ears.ad some people

  9. well he is improving and he will make the cut if he continues like this i watched the game, sakuwaha plays well for the club and he should translate that form into national team as well.

  10. Chris Katongo should retire. We have quite a good number of players who can do better in that position. Yes he has done a lot before but now he’s finished. Mbesuma VIVA.

  11. Mesuma shud play ku AFCON 2013, we shud hace clifford as backup for Rainford. Felix and noh shud not play. thomas shud not even come close. Chintu shud be given time weh HH is not performing, Mayuka shud never play as a lone striker. Infact he sud be coming in as supersub. Mbola shud improve the quality of crosses he makes. Chansa shud not be misplaced. Renard shud stop playing defensive game all the time. He shud also stop dividing the team by having and showing that he has favourites. . . .

    • How can we get our Renard to hear us??!!! he should stop that thing of white shirt n concetrate on our veiws as zambians, we Need Cliffrod Mulenga and Mbesuma back in the term + Jon to be starting the games

  12. All the opinions sounds good, for the friendly match with South Africa, maybe FAZ and the Coach could try people’s choices and see how they could add value to the team ahead of Afcon 2013. Am fearing for Mayuka, his form seem to be dipping, Southampton not using so much, the team is doing very badly, at least he was doing fine at Young Boys, our boys need to be careful with playing for some of these team, it is business, you will see that the nxt thing they will do is to loan him to some team.

  13. Apali collins, chamanga teti ateye. Apali Clifford, felix techi ateye iyooo. Renard chi clour should/must swallow his pride and co the boys .Mbesuma is class , if he is not scoring then he is creatiing. Ama goals ma goals ama assists ma assists.collins never misses stupid chances. He scores when he wants. Singuluma derserves his chance too.drop felix pliz nangula fikulu akupela, limbi uletina katongo.

  14. Zambians are a funny lot. Not long ago when Mbesuma joined Pirates, many criticised the move by Pirates wondering why they could sign a finished player. If I remember well, one blogger even went as far as saying that not even National Assembly can sign Mbesuma. Now that they have been proved wrong, they are now busy calling on national team selectors to include him in the Afcon 2013 team. We will continue to force players into premature retirement if we continue with this kind of attitude.

  15. You people, concerning Singuluma, he has always been called to the national team, but the man never shows!! He’s not interested in playing for the national team. I would think twice about dropping Chris Katongo. The man always scores at least one goal and he makes a terrific leader in the group. His maturity and experience is needed in the team!

  16. Please include Mbesuma Ku Afcon, Clifford, Sakuwaha, Singuluma, Kola and Fwayo not same names pliz!!!! Drop Chivuta and Thomas though Felix and Chris must be maintained in the team to start on the bench. Even Brazil does not maintain the starting 11 why should Zambia???? We need players picked on current form not on history. That team belongs to 13Million Zambians not only a few twapapata. Even me and Kaingu if we were football players am eligible depending on form!

  17. I watched the game…Mbesuma was good but he still needs to work on his speed. He’s skillful and accurate but we need him at full fitness. We need him back in the National Team, if Felix can play why not Ntofontofo? Renard monitor Mbesuma and Fwayo Tembo.

  18. I also ail to understand why amafus hate Chris. Chris has been a seasoned player and captain for the team in thick and …! Go Chris, we love you!

  19. Dreamboi you don’t know anything about soccer; Jonas Sakuwaha is the best attacking midfielder we have at the moment, only foolish Renard & Stupid Kalu conspire to confine him to the bench in preference of chris & his bro.

  20. TO MY OBSERVATION,I FEEL MBESUMA IS OK BUT NOT YET AT HIS BEST FORM,CHRIS ON THE OTHER HAND IS A SEASONED SOLDIER WHO WHEN HE’S IN FORM,ALWAYS IMPRESS.SAKUWAH,SINGULUMA,CLIFORD AND JACOB MUST BE GIVEN CHANCE.MY MERIT GOES TO KALABA,MWEENE,ISAAC,MAYUKA,NKAUSU AND SUNZU..FELIX,MBOLA,CHINTU,NATHAN AND CHISAMBA NEED TO PULL UP THEIR SOCKS IF THEY CAN BE TRUSTED.

  21. Its funny how Zambians forget so easily, am one of the few that have consistently believed in Mbesuma’s prowess and abilities as a striker. However, he has been let down by Zambians many a time. It is on this very forum a few months before the 2008 AFCON that I laboured so much to defend Mbesuma when many of you were calling for his exclusion from the team on the pretext that he was a spent force. Let’s learn to be consistent and do away with the PHD mentality.

  22. Was Kalusha always at his best when he played for Zambia? Now everyone knows soccer!Be frank guys Mbesuma derves a first eleven birth as a striker or left wing midfield. What Renard has failed to do is come up with the best Zambian eleven. You cant leave out Mbesuma just as we could not leave out Kalusha at the time.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  23. harve renard call back mbesuma and fwayo and singuluma , clifiord then axe noah, william njobvu and thomas nyirenda .
