Power Whip Buffaloes to Stay Second

Share

Power Dynamos kept their hopes of retaining the league title alive after beating Green Buffaloes in Lusaka this afternoon.

The 2011 Faz Super Division champions beat Buffaloes 1-0 at Woodlands Stadium to keep the two-horse race alive well into this weekend’s penultimate league game.

Mukuka Mulenga scored the games’ long goal from shot-range in the 35th minute in a first half Power dominated.

The second period was a different scenario altogether as Buffaloes stepped on the gas while Power stuttered.

Power goalkeeper Joshua Titima was kept busy by Buffaloes forwards.

Titima kept a sure chance from Sileck Musebo whose point blank range shot was saved by the Power goalkeeper gathered with some great effort.

Power stay one point behind Zanaco on 57 and 58 points respectively.

A draw for Power on Sunday and a win for Zanaco at home 24 hours earlier will hand the latter the league title.

  1. Go Power Go… I wonder what the rest of the fixture looks like for both Power and Zanaco. I don’t understand how a draw for power and a win for Zanaco in the next games could give the championship to Zanaco. What about the next games. What is Power wins and Zanaco loses, wouldn’t power win given the superior goal difference that they have????

  2. Power is playing NAPSA at home in the next game; ZANACO is also at home against Roan. My own prediction is that Power will beat NAPSA and get 3 points. Om the other hand, ZANACO will have a harder time beating a determined and relegation threatened Roan who are fighting for survival. In this encounter, I can foresee, ZANACO only managing a draw. This will leave the two ZANACO with one last game against Nkana pa chilata which they are unlikely to win.I don’t which team Power will play last, but I I can foresee them retaining the league title because I don’t seem losing their final game.

  3. Dinamo have the momentum to go all the way and retain the league crown. I must hasten to say that their remaining fixtures seem to be a little bit harder compared to Zanaco’s on paper. Power will play Napsa this weekend at home and conclude with an away fixture at Nkoloma Stadium against Red Arrows while Zanaco will have to play Roan and Kalampa Red devils. If recent form is anything to go by, no one can stand in Dinamo’s way.

  4. it was a game were someone would think match fixing was involved. GBFC missed 6 one on one clear chances, the last time i watched such a game was mighty against Zamsure at the same venue.

  5. Good for Power 2000 although Iam a die hard Rhokana United Oh Nkana Red Devils supporter.ZANACO last game with Nkana will be tough,I wish it was those days when we were home in that love Diggers town called  Kitwe.

  6. If Zanaco win the league then we shd 4get about CAF Champions league coz they just dont have what it takes to take on Africas best clubs. However,in Power Dynamos we have faith of reaching the last 8 this time arround.Go Power Go.

  7. Wel done chili border teams. nafutinafuti utuma games per weekend zo-ona. Apart from big towns like lusaka, kitwe and ndola, chililabombwe is the other town with two preamier teams in zambias history.wel done guys.
