But they all cried out together, “Away with this man and release to us Barabbas” Luke 23:18
A story is told in the book of Luke of how a Mob leader, a thief was chosen over Jesus christ, the people had a choice to make and without thinking they chose Barabbas.
On the 20th of September 2011, Zambians were faced with a similar choice to make, harsh as the comparison may seem, yes it was a similar choice, that of retaining Rupiah Banda as their president or replacing him with the so called “COBRA”, Michael Chilufya Sata.It is not surprising why they call him Cobra seeing he very is cunning and full of trickery. You will all agree with me that he tricked most Zambians into voting for him by way of promising a heaven on earth for them.
Zambians chose the cobra over a man that was leading this nation into higher heights, the country’s economy was growing steadily, we saw Fitch Rating slashing us a B+ credit rating (which has since been reversed), we saw foreign investor confidence increase and a number of jobs created. Roads were being constructed, what ever you call them be it formula one or what but roads where being built, schools, hospitals and health centers. Now all we see is Districts being created and airports and hospitals being renamed, where is the development that was promised to Zambians?[pullquote]I can’t remember the last time we heard of mealie-meal shortages in this lovely nation of ours, but now here we are, facing this crisis.[/pullquote]
But Zambians chose, they chose this government over the democracy they enjoyed peacefully for 20 years, and now people are crying out at the rate at which this Democracy is speedily vanishing. It wasn’t surprising to see how OASIS Forum alarmed at the speed with which the PF Government was reversing the many hard-won democratic gains of the Zambian people. But that too was a choice Zambians made. We see politicians in power bullying their fellow “weak” Zambians everyday. Political opponents are being arrested for no apparent reasons, and it is less than two years of their rule,I wonder how it will be 4 years from now.
I can’t remember the last time we heard of mealie-meal shortages in this lovely nation of ours, but now here we are, facing this crisis.
It is so hard to blame Zambians for the choice they made simply because they were lied to,they were promised 10,000 jobs within 90 days, better housing, better health facilities, better this and that all within 90 days, Mr. Sata powerfully made promises to fulfill and it´s on that very basis that the same Zambians that voted for him hold him accountable for the lies he preached of transforming Zambia into a better place within a 3 month period.
When we ignore the cries of the poor, we choose “Barabbas” over Jesus. When we refuse to own up to our responsibility for our actions,we choose Barabbas. When we prefer lording over others instead of servant-leadership, we choose Barabbas. This is exactly what those who voted for Patriotic front did to the poor Zambians.Zambians where ‘gongared’ on this one, as Levy Mwanawas would say “I have given Zambians a better deal” this once thought of as saint Michael has given Zambians a raw deal and they must face their consequences, they must endure indeed.Even young primary school going kids can tell that they were lied to by the people their parents voted for.
And so Barabbas they chose…………………….
This article is very foolishly written. Stop wasting space and time on LT. Write something that make sense and by the way, you can not compare Rupiah Banda to Jesus. That Thug nearly destroyed this country. Even a grade zero saw that in Rupiah what can you tell us. Those awards Rupiah is receiving has nothing to do with with his leadership, they are using him to encourage other African leaders to step down if they have failed to govern and respect the will of people. So you can not read between the lines. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Zambian.
you are just jelous wooooooo!!!!! do you think your cobra will earn the international recognition that rupia banda has won?state house is full of drug barons!!!!!shame on you….!
u must be difficult to acknowledge truth even if u are now buying m,meal at about k80pin per 25kg when RB left it at 35pin and alot of maize all over. u chose barnabas indeed. only satanists would agree and eat with satana
Iwe ka Zyambo, the bible says don’t use the name of the Lord in-vain.
Zyambo ni 3rd dan Karate. He will kick you!
It’s a metaphor you thick head….Maybe that (metaphor) will be something you will fail to comprehend. I suggest you consult the dictionary before you pull your fingers out!
How on earth do you use Jesus as a comparison ??? You must be a dander head yourself ka ‘it’s a worry(tribal blogging is primitive blogging)”
Are you sure you can’t remember when mealie meal shortages occured in Zambia? How old are you 6? I remember shortages and am sure many do too.
The reference is where RB left off not the UNIP days or that period of yellow maize
Zvery year in Zambia we face Mealie Meal shortages.Ba
Z
yambo President Banda is History now.We are all sinners carrying skeletons,Do not use the word of God in vain.God has allowed Sata to lead us for a purpose.Let God be true a man be a liar. Most of us believers behave like witches. We pray against God’s will.Let the will of God prevails. The race is for the swift and not the weak.
It feels like this President is a curse to Zambia, constant mealie meal shortages and now army worms destroying maize fields…!!
Zyambo whats wrong with you. You are lucky christianity is not like some other religions, otherwise by now, you will have been dead for blashemy.
God is mighty and I do not thing he would be trivial to punish people for using metaphors. The author gives an analogy and you call suggest something totally different.
Mwai Kibaki was also awarded the same award a man who refused to conceed to the opposition after election defeat resulting into inocent Kenyan lives being lost. From this I hope @ zabeta zanga lufwakoko you can judge for yourself the value of that award.
Barabas was even better than this DEVIL of the so called SATA…N!
Unbelievable that ka George Chela would approve this article, somebody will be fired for comparing Sata with Barabbas, even if it perfect comparison,
Blasphemy
Nothing blasphemous its just an analog. We indded chose Barabas and the manifestations can be seen everyday by ordinary zambians. The only people who can’t see are those on State house payroll.
Spot on!
Never seen before! If Jesus can be in the group of RB then i can stop going to church meaning there’s nothing like salvation. Thanks be to God it was just a dream of somebody.writer next time don’t think in that line i am very sure you could find better examples than RB in the place of Jesus. Next if u will be listening to promises people make one day you will put yourself in the mouth of lion. How can you believe dat some1 culd create 4 u heaven on earth? wake up stop making noise be serious. Finally work hard and think how you can contribute to the building up of mother Zambia. Not every time bla bla bla day and night.
NO MEALIE MEAL IN KABWE. MR SAKENI AND MR CHENDE IS KABWE A BOARDER TOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all things are going wrong and down- everywhere you turn to its wrong, are we cursed or what, eg army worms, m,meal prices are increasing, POA, unusual deaths and accidents, everyone is complaining in zed
CNP at work
I dont think zyambo is nomal.he must be a fool with short memory.
Zambia is heading the wrong way, Sata is an evil man who has nothing to offer,
The price we will pay will be just like Zimbabwe. Zambians will cry keep your eyes open
What can we say? Away with Barabbas for a change.
Probably the most intellectually devoid article i have ever read. The flow of this article kind of reminds of stories i used to hear in Chibuku tarverns two decades ago.I wonder the status the author has in society.

Kekekeke in Chibuku taverns mwa story, even though I never liked the taste of Chibuku, just those stories yes took me there.
@Nostradamus…ha ha ha.We learnt quite a lot mu chibuku.
NI CHI-COLOUR NSHI NAENA UYU ALELEMBA MAFI?
21:Petelo ala wandepula!!
Some how; i hear these people and their complaints about Sata. I used to feel the same under Mwanawasa, RB. Now am happy they are feeling it. Shortage of mealie-meal is no good barometer to measure performance. If you dont know alternative sources of starch yakosa!! At home we dont buy mealie-meal, we grow our own Cassava, millet, and maize. I dont remember mom buying mealie-meal; so the shortage will teach you a lesson to find alternatives.
Pending approval!! Fakayo
This is bad, you can’t equate a human with Jesus Christ. Better repent!
Excellence article, only the delusional and intellectuctually dysfunctional miss what this article is bringing out
1usd = 5400
mealie meal 100,000 cement 70,000 from 48,000 on 19 sepember 11, this is what the article is talking about the choice they made
If RB and Sata stood today, who would win the elections?
SATA WOULD STILL WIN
Noone
ZYAMBO, YOUR REASONING AND LEVEL OF ANALYSIS IS VERY SHALLOW TO SAY THE LEAST…YOU CANT EQUATE RB TO JESUS…RB WAS A THIEF TRU AND THRU IN STATE HOUSE…SATA IS GOT HIS OWN SHORT FALLS BUT ANOTHER 5 YEARS WITH RB WOULD HAVE SENT ZAMBIA INTO OBLIVION…CLEAN UP YOUR GRY MATTER ZYAMBO…
I remember this same zyambo wrote a very good article on this same tabloid entitled “the evil behind donchi kubeba” and most of us were so excited of pf and we accused him of being hungry and eating wth mmd,but I think this guy means well and just loves zambia,en for this article only a dull mind will miss the reasoning behind it
It is not like Zambians were between a rock and a hard place on election day. There were better candidates than Sata and Banda. But then lies and voting on tribal lines triumphed and Zambians have ended up with the current uninspiring situation. It was their choice so they should live with it. May be, and it is only may be, next time they will think before they vote.
Tribal article. Zyambo and RB come from the same village. Next Please.
Point of correction zyambo is actualy from isoka’s northern province
I tryd to warn you all but u never listened now everything I foretold has come to pass
THEY CHOSE BARNABAS AND NOW THEY ARE CRYING……….LET THEM HAVE BARNABAS TILL THEY STARVE TO…………………
The analogy fit in. It takes a lot of imagination to compare Jesus’s situation to Rupiah Banda’s. Barnabas wasn’t competing with Jesus He was merely thrust into the equation by a judge desperate to save Jesus. Banda was not a moral person. unlike Jesus he was clearly more selfish and clearly corrrupt. there s no comparisons whatsoever here
