MMD Mafinga MP Catherine Namugala has told ZANIS in a telephone interview that the party members in her constituency have a right to complain over what was happening in the party.

Ms. Namugala said she has been suspended from the party for allegedly supporting calls to have Dr. Mumba to step down and allow the party to go for an early convention.

She said the calls to go for an early party convention to elect new party office bearers was the best way to go if the party has to redeem itself.

Ms. Namugala said the MMD in its current form cannot even participate in the 2016 elections because it was lacking leadership.

She proposed that all the party positions should be frozen and allows every position to be contested for by any party member.

The MMD has in the recent past been engulfed in serious squabbles that have seen the party national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe being expelled and the party president Dr. Mumba dragged to court for allegedly having a duo membership.

And opposition MMD in Mafinga district in Muchinga Province have said that it is not happy with the suspension of its Member of Parliament Catherine Namugala from the party.

Party district secretary Deluxe Singongo says the suspension of their MP has been done in bad faith.

ZANIS reports from Mafinga District that Mr. Singogo was speaking in an interview in Chinsali today.

He added that the MMD cadres have called on the party president Nevers Mumba to immediately resign to allow the party to go for a convention.

Mr. Singongo said the party leadership in Mafinga district is in full support of calls to petition National Executive Committee (NEC) through the National Chairperson Kabinga Pande to allow Dr. Nevers Mumba step down in the interest of the party.

Mr. Singongo said Dr. Mumba should step down and allow proper and transparent transition of power to those who will be elected at the convention.

Mr. Singongo charged that the recent happenings in the party which include the crashing of youths at the party offices in Lusaka is an indication that the leadership has failed to unite party members.

The district party secretary said the suspension of Catherine Namugala who is the National chairperson for Women Affairs in the party and other senior party officials will lead to mass resignations in the if not reversed.

  1. Nevers and HH wanted to get into state house using the sata formular,Its not working but simply backfiring.come up with your own formular.Upnd livingstone Mp has just quit his position. Many more to follow.

  2. Where these pre colonial politicians taking us to?
Seriously, i can smell a rat which is creating by elections in most of the constituencies in zambia.

  3. the level of hypocrisy we are been made to witness from our politicians is disheartening. how a person can say something and do a complete you turn on what they said is mind bogging. what *****s we have as leaders. this current crop of politicians are satanist deserving hell no more than the devil himself. wasting money meant for the pool for useless elections, people lets just shun these elections there are a waste of time these people are all possessed.PF/MMD

  4. I think people supporting namugala should take into consideration that there was an allegation that she received money to make problems in MMD?first and foremost she has not come out to deny that allegation.we may not like Evers Mumba but he was elected democratically .if this people love their party has claimed let them show maturity in dealing with problem in their party.let them not hide in cadres to speak for them.suspension means she will be give a chance to explain her story not in the media.if she is not happy lam sure she is free to leave and join a party of her choice.

    • THOSE ARE FALSE ALLEGATIONS AS A COVERUP FOR THE DIMINISHING POLITICAL RETURNS FOR THE UPND AND MMD PACT PARTNERS. ANYONE WHO QUITS MMD OR UPND HAS BEEN BOUGHT….

  5. When u want democracy it must b at all levels including your own home ,church etc .Do not only demand that in a ruling party while u want 2 b treated like some little god in yo political party. Namugala is right and let by elections come.Demo-cracy!

  6. PF had ten outcast MPs and when they wanted to expel them, they used the court and remained like that till General election time. None of them is an MP as the will of the people prevailed. Namungala is not only beautiful but smart and intelligent. She speaks with her brain and articualtes her thoughts, feelings and fears objectively. Mumba this is his own fault and this doesnot inspire those who are true Blue and who understand their constitution. As long as he remains president, MMD will be deminishing slowly till no more. It takes some a great deal to understand that starting a political party, managing and leading people is a big task. Today only Kaunda and Sata has achieved this without any problems as they have shown ability to utilise such skills which others are not having.

  7. the lady on Namugala’s left (in specs) looks like Mama Christine Kaseba ka……
These MMD guys must sit , discuss and resolve issues amicably, so far going to the press has done them no good.

  8. Well the only problem with you is your lack of morals. Ichilalelale, today it’s Sichinga, the other time it’s your sister’s hubby, Mutati, Leo in Mwalimu Sinfukwe awe sure no shame to your kids

  9. #15 LINKING ZAMBIA IS THE GREATEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED IN ZAMBIA AND THAT ALONE IS TAKING ZAMBIA TO DEVELOPMENT HEIGHTS. AND THATS NOT THE ONLY POSITIVE THING HAPPENING IN ZAMBIA.

  10. You are being suspended for falsely alarming the nation that you were going to march naked. Twice! Some of us haven’t given up on the promise made.

  11. MMD made a mistake to elect Nevers to be their Party President. The Bembas say “icikwanka bacimwena pumampalanyo”.

You just have to look at Nevers’ political career. The evolution of a pressure group into a political party, after denials by a Pastor that his NGO was not going to be put through a “metamorphosis” should have been a clear signal of someone entering the political arena the wrong way.

Additionally, all the subsequent political parties he formed came to nothing. I believe none of his parties ever won a single seat at all levels of politics. I stand to be corrected on this one.

MMD has very fine people who could have been elected party leaders following the loss of nationwide polls. MMD needs new President and new National Executive. Full Stop!

  12. The opposition MMD party is going to the dogs. Too bad. 2016 will be cheap for the pulling party to win with 80%.

  13. And then sum fools want to blame pf for the downfall of mmd……. Mutati or Chituwo would hve done a better job not nevers mumba. Its embarrasing for all those intellectuals in mmd to be led by him. 2016 will be a walkover…..

  14. The opposition is really in disarray! They do not know what they are doing and no room for solving their problems amicably! The opposition party leaders must wake up and get flexible and stop suspending and expelling members as this will not solve their problems. The opposition has more problem this term than ever before! Dialogue is vital mwebantu!

  15. Nevers mumbwe is really a failure of 21st century (2013). This guy is here todestroy mmd the way mwanawasa destroyed his party,,,,!!!!

  16. MMD need to practice the democracy they claim to guard so jealously. Freedom of expression is a right and should not be used to oppress Namugala. Nevers and his inner circles needs to exculpate themselves to the MMD followers. It appears that Nevers is losing the vote of confidence within the MMD. A true leader will call upon the NEC to get to the bottom of the issue. But then again thats not possible because Nevers will always defend himself in that he was democratically elected. See Tony Blair was duly elected party leader but when he had vote of no confidence he lost his authority hence he just had to step down. MMD need to have a closed door meeting as a matter of urgency, suspending your member’s for airing their concerns does not amount to bringing he party into disrepute.

  17. You were suspended for encouraging women to undress in public you Go-Go dancer! Go and open a topless bar!

  18. #15 a wise person would always speak wise words, your comment that all those supporting PF must be sick can’t go without hitting back. I think you seriously need to see a mental specialist otherwise my analysis of you is that you have a mental disorder….how do you insult such a big following under PF? aren’t you even scared?

  19. It is apparent that Nevers Mumba will not be MMD candidate come 2016, so hold convention now to replace him & the entire NEC. Try Mutati for President & Lucky Mulusa, Vice President Political

  20. THE CHALLANGE MMD HAS NOW IS HOW TO REMOVE MUMBA ON HIS POSITION. B’COZ MUMBA HAS NEVER BEEN A COUNCILLOR,AN MP AND MOREOVER A GOVERNOR.WITH THE UPND PARTY I FILL PITY B’COZ THEY DID NOT KNOW MUMBA WELL THAT HE CANT LEAD ANY POLITICAL PARTY.

  21. MMD please resolve ur issues amicably ba catherine naimwe inkalenifye . the problem is catherine, chituwo, kachingwe, simbao weresupporting mutati, now that mutati failed now the are trying to bring confusion in mmd, dats the same on wat happened wen this bitch masebo was supporting magande,we know all this issue, the point is MMD were fools to elect mumba so the is no point of calling for early convention-no money, catherine jst go to ur boyfriends in PF

  22. So nga niba Nevers mwalaumfwa ati the problem in mmd is spiritual. it will need a day of repentance and prayer. Thats politics my friend. God has nothing to do with the game.
