The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is appealing to President Sata to reverse the decision of his Minister of Tourism to appoint her fellow Minister, Hon Wynter Kabimba, as a member of the Zambia Wildlife Authority Board and instead consider appointing other able members of society who are less burdened with the pressures of running public affairs. Hon. Masebo’s decision to appoint her fellow Minister shows the highest degree of political patronage in the decision-making process.

We therefore wonder if Zambia and the PF in particular is short of people who can be in those boards and whether leadership is the preserve of the few people in the PF administration.
The appointing Mr. Kabimba to more than one position gives an impression that there is a serious shortage of competent human resource in ruling PF. What is so special with Mr. Kabimba that he is burdened with responsibilities of sitting on three boards in addition to his other two demanding portfolios? What extraordinary skills does one man who, no doubt is one of the powerful men in the PF administration, which cannot be found in hundreds other legal practitioners, in thousands members of the ruling PF, and in the millions other Zambians? YALI believes that Zambia is bigger than any one of us and that even that the PF is bigger than Mr. Kabimba.

President Sata and his administration must give young people and more women a chance to work with them in the running of government as this would also prepare the youth for leadership. We note that President Sata has done a good job in appointing women to positions of authority but it is high time the appointing authority consider appointing more young Zambians to positions of responsibilities and begin to mentor them for leadership.

This man is already over worked at party and national level…i wonder what value he will bring to the table when he is so busy that he doesn’t even have time for his own family! An overworked human resource produces poor results! Besides, ZAWA has had corruption issues and this man still has doubts concerning his behaviour that ACC is still investigating…he may be innocent but for integrity’s sake he should be left alone to sort out his issues…this appointment was poorly judged.

I remember when Sata was MMD Local Govt Minister & appointed Masebo as Livingstone mayor during MMD rule (when Sata was a dangerous machete man causing all the injuries to innocent opposition members in Zambia as Chanda Chimba III prophesied). @ Dojo Do, I hear you and perhaps it’s a sad thing to say especially that I’m Zambian. Having said that, there is so much drama going on there that it is indeed frustrating to be reading about stuff going wrong all the time. When do Zambian Politicians sit and address matters affecting our beautiful nation? Like someone has said in the article above, is there a shortage of Human Resources to fill out these positions? It is either the Justice Minister does not know his job description or the ministry is irrelevant and should be scrapped off. If Mr Kabimba was busy would turn down all the extra regular appointments to focus on his primary assignment. From my point of view and observation, the Zambian Justice system has a lot of work to be done. Kabimbais not the right candidate. Our President probably has his eyes on him.

The fact is Kabimba is Masebo’s boyfriend. It is important to protest, but I doubt it is worth the energy of getting too much into it because it is now becoming apparent that President Sata is not the one running Zambia. Sata is just being used as an appointing authority, literally Sata is a rubber-stamp. Let us just sit patiently and wait for 2016. This country deserves better. There are no doctors and enough beds in our hopsitals, and yet you have this PF govt creating by-elections costing billions of kwacha each instead of spending that money on improving people’s lives. Zambia has sunk so low, and I’m afraid by the time PF’s term comes to an end in 2016, there will be little left of Zambia to talk about.

Before being appointed minister he would be appointed to sit on any board but the moment he became minister he gets disqualified. The board is appointed by the minister and kabimba is a minister so the right thing to do is appoint othet people who are not monistre. PF can be repreesented by the someone else who is nt a minister.

We so disappointed as PF members in the way those on top are giving each other these appointments. Our SG is not the only learned person in PF and is not the only one who can be in boards. But it looks like ba President is the one behind all this and he is slowly becoming toothless. Is it that Man of Action has stopped listening to the people and he fears the SG much more than anyone else? We may not like what YALI says all the time but these boys make much sense in governing Zambia and we must pay attention as a party to some things they say or 2016 wont be easier for us. Ba President, its time to show you can act and act now.
