HH vows to fight violations of human rights and the breakdown of the rule of law

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has vowed to fight violations of human rights and the breakdown of the rule of law allegedly being perpetrated by the Patriotic Front government with civility.

Mr. Hichilema said that he will use all the possible means both local and international to ensure a better Zambia for the people.

In an interview with Qfm NEWS, Mr. Hichilema maintained that there is nothing immoral about him and some leaders of the opposition seeking intervention from the Commonwealth on the alleged gross abuses of human rights and undemocratic tendencies by the PF government.

He said that going to the Commonwealth was the most civil way of handling the alleged injustices being committed by the government.

Mr. Hichilema said the Commonwealth will prove for themselves how intolerant the Patriotic Front government is.

He said that those condemning the move by opposition political leaders are enemies of the rule of law and that they have no respect for people’s rights.

We will still go to UN, SADC, AU and many other bodies that we can go to just to ensure that our freedoms are secured. If you are annoyed by that, we don’t care. Sata does not own us.   2. Send details of those they are using to commit the abuse, like Dr. Jere and Stella including that Katanga. Send there names to the ICC. Lobby for a travel ban for them and some selected ministers, like Sakeni, Lungu, Kabimba, Masebo, Monde and GBM. Also the DPP and Mmembe.

    • All those people you are mentioning do travel on behalf of the Zambian people and the effect of banning them to travel is not on these Agents but the Principals who are the Ordinary Zambians.

    • Truth is Zambians are alreadu suffering and this suffering is getting worse. When someone starts a particular treatment, there are sometimes side effects, but these calm down with time. Let those abusing others be tamed, we can suffer a bit if thats what it entails but we will be free afterwards, hopefully for a long long time. On monday someone refuted sakeni ‘s statement that president sata was voted by majority zambians.going through the records shows that pf managed to get massive votes from the copperbelt,lusaka, luapula, muchinga,northern and part of central province yet some people argue that he is minority president.the question is if Sata had support in atleast 6 provinces is called a minority president how will bwana HH with support from 2 provinces become president of zambia?

Help us tackle issues close to the heart such as floods this season, provison of clean water and sanitation. promotion of education, etc. Personally Im sick and tired of the media fighting from all sides. What would u term the detention of opposition leaders of both sexes in one cramped up dump cell without toilet facilities? What about denying several requests by the opposition to propagate their visions and ideals to their supporters? What about the refusal by government to provide security to these rallies that allowed in the last minute because they don’t belong to the ruling party? What about an open instruction to the army by H.E. to shoot his own citizens because they are agitating a break away because of broken 90 days promises ? What about several pastoral letters that have been released warning of danger if Government does improve its human rights…

  16. HH your cadres were warned not disperse when they attempted to block Addis abba road but they did not adhere to the police warning and went ahead with the demonstration can you call that as Human right violation when it you cadres who ware infringing on the rights of motorist.

  17. The tactic used by the opposition is “lobbying” and is a very common and acceptable form of canvassing in democracies that are intransigent after they refuse to any form of dialogue. Governments usually pay attention to such moves as u can see from the noises the likes of Hon Sakeni are making. I don’t think Zambia will be suspended from the commonwealth, but it may receive some stern rebuke and warning. Some people may say so what? British commonwealth is not a “talking shop” like AU. Some members have some real clout because they also belong to other organs like G7, Paris Club and are senior members of IMF,World Bank etc. This can cause ripple effects to theses bodies, that are crucial to Zambia

    However, their intent and action of taking the Zambian issue/s outside the country (Commonwealth) is malicious and need to be condemned by all Zambians . They are not acting as politicians or responsible citizens because Zambian problems are for Zambians and can only be resolved by Zambians as the great Leader Winston Churchill once said
    “When I am abroad, I always make it a rule never to criticize or attack the government of my own country. I make up for lost time when I come home.”

  22. Taking the Zambian issue/s outside the country (Commonwealth) is an insult to Zambians because Zambians have resolved their own problems in the past without outside interference. They are on record of being the first to bring back democratic elections in Africa in 1991 and have changed their governments peacefully more times than any other country in SADC region.
    Commonwealth neither votes for Zambians nor is an imperialist to appoint onother Governor for Northern Rhodesia which is now Zambia, once again as said by the great Leader Winston Churchill,
    “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” Please, make use of the QFM News which is your daily bread to articulate your ideas for the Zambian people.
