Government launches the National Trust Fund for Persons with Disabilities (NTFPD) Trust fund

Government has called on the private sector to supplement its efforts in soliciting funds for empowering persons living with disabilities.

And Zambia Agency for Persons Living with Disabilities ZAPD Director for Rehabilitation Patrick Miyenga appealed to persons living with disabilities to pay back the loans.

Community Development, Mother and Child Health Deputy Minister Dorothy Kazunga says government should be assisted to mobilise resources for funds for the disabled persons under the National Trust Fund for Persons with Disabilities (NTFPD) Trust.

Ms Kazunga made the call when she launched the National Trust Fund for Persons with Disabilities (NTFPD) Trust’s Strategic Plan at her office in Lusaka, today.

She said NTFPD is cardinal in providing loan facilities to persons living with disabilities enhance the needy for additional funds to be pumped into NTFPD.

The Deputy Minister observed that very few banks and leading institutions are willing to give loans to the disabled.

She reiterated that government will ensure that the Strategy Plan works in bid to improve the livelihood of persons leaving with disabilities.

Ms Kazunga said communities benefit more when the disabled persons are empowered.

And Zambia Agency for Persons Living with Disabilities ZAPD Director for Rehabilitation Patrick Miyenga appealed to persons living with disabilities to pay back the loans.

He said the programme will only spread to other parts of the Country if beneficiaries pay back the loans.

Mr Miyenga advised members to desist from defaulting after accessing the loan facility.

He recalled that in the past programmes aimed at empowering people living with disabilities have died because of members who fail to repay the loans.

  1. Atleast we have one disabled person in pf Govt his excel sata, with a bag of urine on his back. i support the idea esp that we have lots of these guys in pf mambala govt

    • And you should thank God, that you are able bodied. Cause you don’t what might happen to yourself. Accidents happen. You don’t know what the futures holds. It is morally wrong to laugh at the disabled. PLEASE GROW UP!!!

  2. Good move but ensure that systems are put in place for them to come up with sustainable plans for their businesses or projects to enable them pay back the funds. It is time to instill the idea of empowerment rather than handouts. the mindset should change from being pitied upon but they should prove that they arecapable of contributing to zambia as a country

  3. Make public buildings, transportation, etc accessible to persons with disabilities

  4. its the same old song. Our disabled men and women wont access these loans because the money will be chewed by the apamwamba chaps. malabishi yeka yeka.

  5. The goverment plans and polices are just fine ,but we have no people with a heart to deriver this funds to the disableds at grass roost level .
    and which method will be used to enable disableds access this funds especially in luapula province where we have seen person with disabilitie have again started miggreting to the cooperbelt were officers are derivering day and night.
    if one what to refuet ,the quation is where persons who have been in the cortage are?
    plaese let the indivitual persons submit to national officers and tranfer money to they accounts and help under go enterprinural trainings before get funded.
    together we can develop zambia .

Though many refer to disabled as such but they may as well be referred to as differently abled persons.They are able to do in many fronts.They may use or utilize one ability more efficiently than so called ables.Everyone is able and disabled in one way or another.God has purpose for everyone .Let everyone appreciate the other
