Weekend Scorecard: Mbesuma Is Zambia Top Scorer

Share

Collins Mbesuma’s is Zambia’s most prolific striker so far for 2013.

However, the 29 year old Orlando Pirates strikers tally fairly is modest after seven international matches he has featured in for Zambia since January.

Mbesuma on Sunday scored his second goal for Zambia when he found the net in Chipolopolo’s 1-1 away draw against Lesotho in a Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Group D qualifier on Sunday in Maseru.

His first goal came on January 21 in another draw this time at the 2013 Africa Cup in Zambia’s opening Group C match at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

Meanwhile, in second spot is goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene whose goal from a penalty came in Zambia’s 1-1 draw against Nigeria on January 25 at Mbombela.

  1. ba LT naimwe … you really know how to rub it in..
in fact you should have gone further by giving us the total number of games that mbesuma has featured in for him to be our top scorer at two goals.
    really laughable.

  2. The third top scorer is …erm all the others at zero goals followed by the rest at -ve one. Talk about rubbing it in, ba Lusaka times, yaba!!

    • U have made me laugh mune…. ha ha ha this is comedy and people have hope that tiyenda ku WorldCup when the top scorer is on 2 and next is the goalkeeper on One and the rest third position on 0 Goals same like spectators.

  3. Mbesuma has two goals which he created on his own and not supplied from the midfield. It is in this regard that I feel Mbesuma should be thanked for the two goals he has scored so far because they have earned us draws when we should have lost.

If I were you, I would laugh at the midfield which fails to supply him with good balls in order for him to score. Its our midfield which is a let down bane ubufi bubi. It lacks creativity and very porous.

We need a good stopper and distributor of the ball at number 6, a number 8 who is mobile, creative and good passer of the ball to Mbesuma, a number 7 who is quick, with an atitude of no retreat no surrender as he moves the ball upfront and a number 11 that is good at spliting defences and seeing where Mbesuma is in order to feed him with the…

  4. Am very disappointed to hear what Kalusha is saying. with such as head of FAZ, I see the Chipolopolo team going no where.
Facts Kalusha likes camping the team in RSA because this guy looks down at Zambia and likes RSA, Is it because of his white wife?
The coach and the technical bench need to be shown the door, they have run out of ideas. Please bwana Minister call for emmergency AGM for FAZ to remove Kalusha as long as Kalusha remains the head of FAZ, he will not fire the coach and he will not stop camping the team in RSA.

  5. In today’s Post Mweene says” players are doing everything possible to win matches, but up to now they don’t know were they go wrong”. To tell him the truth, the coach is the problem the team will never go anywhere with RH. Ever since he took over from DB, the performance of the team has been going down. If you look at the reasons he gave after the Lesotho game all were within his means to tackle them as a coach. He knew which players were inactive at TP Mazembe & that Zunzu was injured and yet he put them in the final team. He had 23 players in camp but chose to use unfit players. He should accept that tactically he is very useless, he even agreed to this in his own words since he is supposed to be the chief tact ion on his players. SHOULD GO.
