The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia-EFZ-has described as unfortunate the political statement that Senior Chieftains Nkhomeshya the second of the Soli people made during the flagging off of the construction of the 91 kilometer stretch of Luangwa Bridge Feira road project by President Michael Sata.
Senior Chieftains Nkhomeshya who is also House Chiefs Chairperson was also quoted as saying that she will defend her statement that President Sata’s government is delivering its campaign promises if some people would want to describe it as politics.
EFZ Executive Director Pukuta Mwanza has noted that the Senior Chieftaines’ statement does not reflect fairly as there are some people in her chiefdom that have divergent political views.
Rev. Mwanza has noted that traditional leaders in the country ought to harmonize divergent political views amongst people and live above partisan politics.
He was speaking in an interview with Qfm in Lusaka.

She is leader of the House of Chiefs, which is a constitutional non-partisan institution. With such kind of display she ought to be voted out so that she can continue being a cadre. Why are Zambians so weak in spirit? Rules and regulations are being violated everywhere and people think it is okay just because someone is praising the ruling party. She has that right to recognize what has hitherto not been done before! Pukuta, we have lived through decades of decaying infrastructure (in some cases non-existent). What we need is to bring a certain minimal condition on which our people can comfortable launch coherent discourse. Maintainable infrastructure such as roads is just one of those things we must recognize. Next is power distributed everywhere (we have hydro potential for heavens sake!), and portable water… Yes it is unprecedented what is going on.
He should also not speak on behalf of EFZ as different members of the efz like some of us have different views from him and actually agree with the chieftainess

Taking a cross section of names that are condemning Rev Mwanza’s comments, it seems that anyone with the wrong surname who tries to put a comment against a perceived wrong in our society, these comments are translated as condemning for the sake of it. First and foremost, all governments have obligations to its citizens. If the Chieftainess wanted to express her gratitude she could have done it without exhorting the political efficacy of PF, especially that she is supposed to be non partisan. That is politiking. Rev Mwanza, do not be intimidated by all this storm in a tea cup. Continue calling a spade a spade and speaking for justice and fair play for all.
The Chiefteness is WRONG FULL STOP. What is not patisan then if what she said is not. How different is she from the Post who will always be there to publish the good PF does and not any other opposition party or the watchdog who will only publish the opposite of the Post? We need to mature politically. There is a difference between being grateful and being partisan. Mfumu No. 23 you are quite right. You can show gratitude and appreciation without being partisan. Chiefs should embrace plurality just like the queen of England has done.

Rev pukuta Mwanza’s comments exposes his envy for PF’s positive remarks. He does not wish any success to be scored by PF.
His bitterness raised from the the fact that EFZ supported MMD party during the last election while the Catholic supported PF by pushing for parallel tabulation of voters.
Now when PF won the election they constituted a Constitution Reveal commission with clergy men being drafted in from the Catholic. Then EFZ started complaining forgetting that PF line of thought was that EFZ supported MMD when MMD will constitute an commission (that is if ever they but we all know that they are out of power) they eould be considered by the party they supported.
From that time EFZ has been very critical of PF.

Most chiefs/chieftainesses glorify the government of the day as long as they receive tributes known as brown envelops frm the politicians in power.
We know that Pukuta Mwanza is an MMD cadre and he has never thanked the PF Govt for the job they are doing. Prior to 2011 Elections, Pukuta and Joshua Banda were campaigning for RB. The entire EFZ is for MMD, and I am just wandering when your term as EFZ ED will come to an end because you have been at the helm of the organisation for too long.
