Veep attributes under development to MMD rule

Share

Republican Vice President Dr Guy Scott says the country lagged behind in terms of development because of the massive corruption that was perpetuated by the former government of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD).

Dr Scott said huge sums of money which was meant for development in the nation landed into wrong hands by ruthless leaders who looted the funds for their selfish motives.

Dr Scott said this yesterday during a vigorous campaign trail to drum up support for the Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Eillen Imbwae in Kanshishi, Manjolo, and Mumbumbu wards in the newly created Mitete district in Likulu West constituency in Western Province.

The Vice president said corruption is a cancer to the nation because the vice retards development.

And Dr Scott has urged traditional leaders in the nation to help the PF government in fighting corruption.

He said it is high time government curtails and bring sanity in the nation because Zambians are expecting a lot from government.

He said Zambians should not worry under the PF government because President Sata is the father of democracy in the country and won’t tolerate corruption.

Dr Scott also promised the people from the three wards of relief food should they face the deficit of the staple food in the constituency.

He said having worked under the MMD government during the Chiluba regime he knows very well the resources of the nation were not applied appropriately hence the reason why the President Sata and him left the party to form the PF.

He further stated that the ruling party is the engine of development and warned the electorates in Lukulu not to vote for the opposition candidate on April 23, 2013.

Dr Scott said it is only the ruling government which is able to secure development in the country because they have resources to develop the nation.

The Vice President also told the people of Lukulu West that the PF administration will ensure that development is taken closer to the people of Mitete district.

And PF candidate for the Lukulu West By-elections Eilleen Imbwae said the PF is the only party which is able to uplift the living standards of Zambians.

Ms Imbwae said once voted as MP she’ll ensure that she works tirelessly for the electorates in the area.

She further appealed to the electorates to give her 100 per cent votes on April 23, 2013.

Ms imbwae who spoke in Luvale to the electorates said people shouldn’t experiment with leaders who won’t work for them but only satisfy themselves.

  1. LITTLE FOXES CAN’T AGREE WITH U BUT WE ARE SEEING MASSIVE DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS ONLY SEEN DURING KK’S RULE. U ARE EVEN GOING TO OVER DO THEM.INDEED GREEDNESS BY THIS FOXES TOOK US BACKWARDS MANY YEARS. NEVER MIND THEM SIR BUT KEEP ON DELIVERING.

  2. To the contrary, Zambia’s meaningful development has only been under the MMD’s rule. Any development of any significant mesure was done by the colonialists. Unip only united the Nation but it was a one way road to the poverty duldrums with both economical and political mismanagement which left the nation on its knees with huge debts and dilapitated infrastructure. The MMD and especially under LPM and RB laid the foundations to change the fortunes of this country and although the current PF have the opportunity to take advantage and build on that, it appears that they have failed to do that and the international community is slowly loosing interest in our country. Some might say so what? But that will simply be pointless arrogance since we have no capacity to develop our country ourselves

  3. Guy Scott a hapless victim of dementia. Indeed Guy Scott Zambia experienced rampant corruption between 1991 and 2001. We had a Minister who stole billions from the local government Ministry and deposited the money in his Standard Chartered Bank Cairo Account. We also had another Minister who killed his Pigs on his farm and sold the pork. He then compensated himself with taxpayers money claiming that the Pigs had swine fever and that they all had been destroyed. Today these Ministers are in PF masquerading as Angels. As for the people of Lukulu , they know that it is Zambia that has failed them. And they know who wanted to send the Army to slaughter them.

  4. This silly man.we are tired of the same lullaby.apart from liato who got his loot from the corrupt chinese to prevail over the case of that coal mine shooting incident and dirty beings like shimulambe, who else is in court for alledged plunder.of course we know about RBs case and the innitiators infact under chiluba this mubunu was the most corrupt, he slaughtered his pigs under the guise of swine fever and heavily conpesated himself. Just deliver on your campaign promises and stop crying wolf.greetings to effie

  5. I know that Guy Scot wants to keep his job as VP but this should not make him turn himself into a disgusting liar. Who doesn’t know that he left the Chiluba administration a very disgraced man? When he says Michael Sata is a father of democracy who is he trying to cheat? It is there on record that Sata was busy whipping women in markets for not carrying UNIP cards when the pioneers of democracy where meeting at Garden Motel. How do you call such a person a father of democracy? That is gravely insulting to the pioneers of democracy!

  6. What ever people may say in the negative, KK brought development. He was only blocked by two issues: supporting liberation struggles and overstay in power. Initially he did very well. Not until PF the transition is over. Sata is selfless and means well in developing the nation. It matters who leads others. Msn of action and we shall see real change. PF’s first term is so far prooving a success story of real infrastructure building, many capital projects everywhere. Thats the way to go.

  7. Ba fee colour you never used to build houses and buy cars but this time you are able to do that, unless you do not want. Chiluba said he was going to empower people in home ownership and that is what happened. They brought in vehicles at a duty free and belt schools shops came like shoprite and game and a lot of shoping malls road rehabilitations and bridges etc mwe bantu tamu tasha, mwe bana ba ndoshi imwe. MMD has done a lot imwe ba Mumbwe finshi ba Paya Farmers bacita apo baishila? B nkusa.

  8. VeePee Scott, a word of advice: RB is in court for the reason of squandermania. You adopted bene Namulambe, Richard Taima, David Phiri into your ‘new’Party, who were party of the squandermaniac group – Isn’t this self contradicting? Besides, have you arrested the culprits including RB? Question is: For how long are you going to pass the back to the MMD? Come off it and just do the job. You are now sounding like a broken record or scratched DVD.
