First Lady, Christine Kaseba-Sata, has called for the decentralisation of specialist health services countrywide.

Dr Kaseba says it is unfortunate that specialist health personnel are only concentrated in Lusaka and other urban areas, making it difficult for rural communities to access specialist health care.
She said this when she received a KR270 000 donation on behalf of Ubutala Ubwa Bumi (UUB) from China Non Ferrous Metal Mining (CNMC) at State House today.

The First Lady, who is the chairperson for UUB thanked, CNMC for the donation, saying it will go a long way in helping achieve UUB’s objective of improving the livelihood of women and children.

Dr Kaseba appealed to CNMC to consider extending its investment to rural areas and create job opportunities for the rural population.

And CNMC President, Luo Tao, said his firm has created a total of 12 000 jobs since its inception in Zambia 15 years ago.

Mr Luo said though Zambia and China are miles apart, the two countries still share a strong relationship based on improving the livelihoods of both countries.

He pledged his company’s continued support in accelerating development countrywide through increased investment.

Ubutala Ubwa Bumi (UUB) is a Non Governmental Organisation which aims at improving maternal and child health in Zambia being headed by First Lady Dr Kaseba.

  1. Kaseba is now becoming the unoffiicial minister of Health in the PF govt. She just cant shut her mouth up and every day she making pronouncements which interfere with official government policy and put undue influence on the senior civil servants at the ministry of health. Today she is yapping about decentralisation of Health Services – what does Kaseba know about decentraliation which is a political and policy issue? That is nonsense because decentralisation costs alot of money which we dont have and this cow doesnt even care to find out how much it would cost! She just needs to speak to her husband about these things – though we know she is just looking for publicity – and we are now fed up to our back teeth!

  2. Good idea and good call. We asked for this this 10 years ago when Boniface Kawimbe was Minister of Health – we asked again Minister Brian Chituwo under Levy Mwanawasa and NOTHING happened.
Specialist hospitals are very important – we need trauma centres too.
    Burns Hospitals
    Eye Hospitals
    Skin and dermatological centres
    T.B. Centres
    Malaria and liver diseases
    Alcohol abuse
Women special hospital – just of women and girls
    Urology centres for men issues
Sex and fertility Centres – STI, HIV&AIDS centres
    Healthcare and
    Abdomen and reproduction centres
Special Head and Neck injuries/trauma centres

We need these nationwide. People travel from Mporokoso to get seen to at UTH for ailments that could be sorted in Kasama or Mansa

Build hospital PF and stop arresting oppositon…

  3. Zambia needs more specialist hospitals across the country not just in Lusaka.
We need Trauma centres and burns, dermatological (skin) etc
TB, Malaria and cancer hospitals around Zambia – each province should have specialist hospitals. We need women hospitals – for women and girls issues
Hospital which specialise in STI AND HIV&AIDS – Veneral diseseases –
This scheme would create jobs and promote healt and healthcare systems

  4. Why demand maternal health & child care development from an outsider ??????? Furthermore, they have just given you the money…..and in my opinion it is rude to ask for more right away before you even have a chance to show how you have spent the current amount !!!!
It is really astonishing…the rate at which you people are begging for more money from these neo-colonialists !!!!
