Kalusha: We Should Honour 1993 With 2014 Qualification

Share

Kalusha Bwalya says qualifying to the 2014 Brazil World Cup will be the ultimate honour to the victims of the 1993 Gabon Air Disaster.

Kalusha was reflecting on Sunday’s 20th anniversary of the disaster.

The Zambia legend and FAZ president believes the perished team would have qualified to the World Cup.

“Can we go all the way to Brazil 2014? That will be the ultimate honour and tribute for the fallen heroes,” Kalusha posted on his facebook page.

“20 years since the Gabon Air Disaster which deprived us of a very talented Zambia National Soccer Team. It seems like yesterday.

“Only God knows what that team would have achieved. World Cup? Yes I think so,” the ex-Zambia captain added.

The team perished on the way to Senegal for a 1994 USA World Cup qualifier.

  3. God blessed us with the Africa cup 2012. In Gabon were the original team perished, Zambia were the underdogs and overcame miraculously. Let us thank Jesus and now just play football :).

  4. How do you intend to get to point C if you have no clue of getting to point B from point A? Please stop this emotional blackmail of trying to profit off the fallen heroes…if you care so much about them Kalu why didn’t you lobby the past and current gov’ts to make the Gabon Disaster Report public.
Our fallen heroes awarded you with the AFCON 2012 trophy in Gabon last year and how did you thank them? You let complacency creep in the team as you didn’t take the FIFA ranking table seriously hence expended the opportunity to retain it and wasted all the winnings on useless FAZ expenses instead of investing it.

  5. Teams that qualify to World Cup begin doing so from their youth groups…U17, U20, U23. If you can’t show qualification to WC at junior ranks, forget about WC. The same garbage you put in the junior ranks, finally gets the opportunity to manifest itself at senior level. Ba Kalu n Ba Kambwili, please get youth leagues in place and invest heavily in them…both boys and girls. If you do, you and Zambia will be smiling endlessly and people will start coming to you for advice. The Africa Cup we won is from Patrick Phiri and Lwandamina’s U20 WC envoys. Go on n do research on other national teams that compete at WC level…it’s only those teams that had success at junior level. The current teams like Bukinabes, Ethiopia, etc, didn’t just come from nowhere. It’s called Youth…

    • It’s called Youth Investment. It’s so painful to us Zambians to be watching other nation’s junior teams competing at the continental cup year after year without our boys and girls in that mix. Ba kalu and Ba kambwili shuwa muniwuze, how does it feel when we are endlessly missing out in continental tournaments? Worse still, according to the current arrangement, if your youth groups don’t make it to the continental showcase they can’t make it to the Youth WC. Both Ba kalu and Ba Kambwili, I love you BUT we need a soccer revolution in Zambia. A new and sure way of doing things. Only don’t just sit there and do nothing for posterity.

    • How gullible can one be surely? How many times is the rug going to be pulled under your feet Or the wool pulled over your eyes? You think too highly of those incompetent empty suits at Football House. Do you recall how bad Nigeria played at the last World Cup 2010 in RSA like a non-league team without a coach? You should expect the selfsame performance even worse under this outfit of Kalu and HR.
      Wake up now!!

  6. “In footballing matters we don’t act any differently, as we pray to God to give us victory, even when our team is as bad as a non-league team with no Coach. So, now we pray that even though our titans go to war with sticks and blunt swords, that they defeat the best of the best who come armed with the best carved swords, shield of steel and maybe Semi-Automatic Guns.”

    • hahaha.. jay jay please…
yaba.. kalu and his useless coach have themselves to blame for these negatives.
how do you expect to qualify to the WC when you can’t even beat lesotho?
      this guy is a dreamer.

  7. The trouble with typical Zambian mentality is that we think a half-arsed effort at performance plus a blast of prayer will equal brilliant performance. Ask any successful person how they have attained that elegance and learn from them. Work, practice – enjoy that work – that is what will get you there!!! Good luck as you plan for your world cup qualifiers… work towards it!

  8. zambians will never appreciate anything. dull chaps. the win against a determined Zimbabwe wa good. congratulations to the national team, Herve Renard and king Kalu for the result.

    • Yes,that’s an improvement as Zimbabwe is ranked 101 compared to Lesotho which is ranked 156….you carry on singing and blindly worshipping your King Kalu and princess HR.

  9. Dear country men,why are you so heartless and ungrateful?Always negative and jealous against those who are doing their best to put our country on the world map. Please ba Kalu and his team ,don’t let these little minds to discourage you to do what you are good at for your mother land ZAMBIA.Such people never kicked nangu ichipombwa in their life time ;now, they want to be experts shame on them. And they should know that there are no longer small teams in the world and how many times the so called big teams failed to qualify on the big stage? From there if they are honest then they should appreciate what you have been doing for soccer…I just pray that our supreme God grants you the favour in everything you are doing in jesus’name.AMEN.

  10. You guys bena Kalu, please teach you boys to be fast and attack. Train them to run fast the whole 90 minutes. What I have noted is that our boys are so low and so lazy on the ball. Change the way you play please.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.
