Keagan Mumba banned for three months

FAZ slaps three-month ban on Zanaco coach Keagan Mumba for bringing the game into disrepute.

The Zanaco coach was banned following a FAZ disciplinary hearing held on May 1 in Lusaka.

Mumba attacked Herve Renard’s recent 2014 CHAN qualifiers and 2013 Cosafa Cup nationwide trials that he described as moribund.

“We have noted with regret Keagan’s continued attacks on the Football association, its agents, managers and officials of FAZ for a long time and we decided that this time we needed to put a stop to it and sent his case to the DC,” Faz communications officer Erick Mwanza said.

Mumba however did not appear in person to answer charges against him.

“He sent in an exculpatory letter which was consider in the hearing on May 1,” Mwanza said.

“The ban means that he cannot in any way associated with any member of FAZ meaning that he cannot go to the training ground to train Zanaco football club.

“The ban runs from May 6 to August 5.”

  1. Still doesn’t change the fact that our national coach has been found wanting in 12 games or so we have played since winning 2012 CAN…

  2. This is utterly laughable how do you ban a coach for 3 months that’s extremely harsh; do they know how many league matches and club training sessions that is? This is unheard of…. not even FIFA hands out such harsh bans…… moreover Keegan was telling it as it is to these incompetent corrupt empty suits in Football House.
And you expect football to develop when these empty suits can not take constructive criticism on board. They are only interested in appeasement.
    Wake up people!!

  3. Why not resolving the matter thru discussion. He might be right in his critise, considering the poor performance by nat. team which resulted into trying new players.. The ban can be touchline ban.. BUT not affecting training his team as training is NOT a match.. He can prepare his team but not seat on the coaching bench ONLY watch his team from the stand.

  4. I understand these FA’s need to protect themselves from irate Insulting coaches but the punishment faR outweighs the crIme. 3 Months is like FAZ is run by Shariah law.. 3 games could have sufficed
