Kalusha-Africa need more FIFA World Cup slots

Share

Kalusha Bwalya believes Africa deserve more slots in the World Cup finals.

Bwalya, the FAZ president, says it is important that Africa has more representatives in the World Cup.

Currently Africa has five places in the World Cup.

“I don’t think that for us as Africa we should look at more positions in FIFA, but we should look at more positions for our teams in the World Cup,” he told Soccer Africa Television Programme via telephone.

Bwalya added:”for the moment Europe has 13, we (Africans) have only five. It will be important for us going forward in the new FIFA reforms that we are talking, to have a better representation in the World Cup.”

The ex-Chipolopolo skipper is a member of the FIFA technical committee and the CAF executive.

  1. Don’t just contradict positive thinking, I believe it’s not fair that our continent could just have 5 slots for the World Cup. I fully agree with Kalusha need more places whether Zambia qualifies or not, we just need a better representation.

  2. hahahahahha kalusha, are you worried of not qualifying??? or maybe FIFA should give zambia free passage to the world cup!!!!!!

    • Read between the lines when your Great King Kalu makes such utterances….your Kalu is more interested in his profile than anything else.
      Wake up!!

    • Iwe Jay Jay Europe has 50 countires, Africa has 54 countries. Honestly my brother without even talking of Kalu here is it fair for FIFA to grant Africa only 5 slots at the WC??? Its not fair, even if tuli makula but we should be given a chance to represent the continent.

    • Then please go and tell them to do away with Afrikaaaaa…….kwapwa so that they can call it The Wild West Cup…. Baleteya abene coz calling it World cup doesnt make sense to me…. Am wondering how you manage to make sense out of it.

    • Go and watch the group matches of AFCON 2013 in RSA or better still just watch Zambia’s last 8 matches and then it will definitely make sense to you.

  3. Don’t just contradict positive thinking, I believe it’s not fair that our continent could just have 5 slots for the World Cup. I fully agree with Kalusha we need more places whether Zambia qualifies or not, we just need a better representation. A continent with with 52+ countries only to be given 5 slots? Some of the European countries can’t even play better football than us….anyway I am entitled to my opinions.

  4. None of the 5 Reach Second Rounds KALU?? so what’s the point?? Numbers will mean nothing, let African teams show the world the can do wonders THEN we can claim for more slots. Otherwise it will be Embarrassing the continents because even Rubbish teams will qualify. Despite Having the largest number of Players in Premier and Other European Leagues our AFRICAN players play below average when back in their National TEAMS. USELESS. GET SERIOUS KALUSHA AND ZAMBIANS SHOULD QUALIFY THIS TIME ELSE YOU ARE OUT.

    • Thats the point exactly, if u have 13 teams in the compentition there is a higher chance that atleast 3 or 4 will make it further as opposed to 5. U have europe that is represented in each group and africa is only represented in 5. Why do u fear to be equal to the white man? Is it that u believe white people are better?

  5. When Zambia start winning games against small teams, start to take friendlies seriously, start to take note of the FIFA ranking table can you start to complain…as at now even FIFA can not take clowns like Kalu seriously.
Kalu and his corrupt empty suits at Football house only intend to go to the world cup for their own self-serving reasons. When it comes to more important issues that matter to us, this RSA based FAZ president is tongue tied.

  6. One just needs to look at the last AFCON tournament to judge if Africans have matured enough to make all these demands. What did we see:
    Bad pitches
    Poor refereeing
    Empty stadiums
    Unruly fans
I can say more. I suggest we work on the above things first before we go around making noise

    • Spot on…..even the the three out of five that represent us (Africa) are technically inept and are the wiping boys of the groups stages….. just imagine us going there under an average coach like Renard and an incompetent corrupt mg’t team like Kalu’s.
There are no short cuts to the World Cup… FAZ has to do the ground work first at home in the league and grass roots!!

  8. I like ppositive thinkers like King Kalu. Its true we need more places in the world.5 places is as good as nothing and nowander we dont even get anywhere. Please ba kalu continue lobbying for our poor continent and forget about these negative thinkers.

    • You give him more credit than he deserves, yes he was a great football but he is not just good enough and frankly out of his depth for football administration and mg’t.
      The sooner you guys wake up to this fact the better for the future of Zambian football…and there is no such thing as negative thinking…for christ’s sakes wake up..wake up..wake up…wake up..wake up..wake up…wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up…wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up.,..wake up..wake up..wake up!!

    • wake up..wake up..wake up…wake up..wake up..wake up…wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up…wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up..wake up.,..wake up..wake up..wake up!!

    • @ ba bigkilo1

We are not just good enough for more places at the FIFA World Cup that’s the reality…why isn’t your Kalu vocal on important issues that matter like state of the pitch or CAF and FIFA disciplinary issues. Let him put his house in order professionally at Football House where on earth have you seen a club coach banned for 3 months including his team’s training ground.
Wake up and stop being a gullible!!

  10. Ba Jay jay lets stop the mulongoti way of ranting anyhow. There will always be outstanding issues in as far as management of football is concerned.I think getting extra slots is an immediate problem which needs to be addressed and quality of the pitches can be an ongoing concern which can be address in the near future. You cant address issues from a hollistic point of view as some problems have a high financial aspect attached to them.On displinary issues eg 3months suspension of you know who-i think this was fare and should serve as a lesson to people who rant anyhow like you.

    • This Jay Jay wont stop talking, whatever comes from Kalu or Kambwili concerning football is like nightmare to Jay Jay he wakes up and cant no more. Whether African teams are bad or not, we have more countries than Europe and hence we diserve a reasonable number to represent the continent, otherwise they shouldnt call it World Cup.

  11. The question is how does Africa justify more places ?? Just look around the league’s in Africa and the standards ? The representation of teams at the World Cups ? It I a healthy debate but very premature.

    • But you know that we dont have as much money as the Europeans to have such Porsh stadia. Lets just be fair we all love the Game and we diserve a reasonable number. Otherwise they should complitely do away with Africa coz 5 is a mockery

    • Iwe you have the money the problem is Africa is full useless leaders and their dimwit supporters such as yourself!

  12. Ba Bigkilo1

If you ever bump into your great king and Renard at the airport, please humbly ask them these questions for me (as I wouldn’t as polite as you) that’s if you are not star struck and speechless with excitement.
You ask them what they intend to do at the World Cup when they ever get there? You ask them what they had accomplished after winning the AFCON2012 ask them if the sponsorship packages have increased? Ask them how many of our players have signed proper deals worth talking of? Ask your great king if any of that success has trickled down to the grass roots? You ask the great king what FAZ has done with the $1.5million from AFCON? You ask him to tell you when FAZ will ever be self sufficient?

    • amichimfya umwaice jay jay…
and you have now resorted to insults.
can’t you just egange him on maturely?
come on jay jay bring it on….
make the debate all the more lively.
      am enjoying it.
      ignore all these insults.

  13. Jay jay!!! why are you so angry with yourself ????blaming kalu and everyone for not allowing you to contribute to Zambian soccer??? The door is open!! You can just jump on the plane and you will be in Zambia helping out or if not maybe… its wiser to just shut your loud gob. Kalusha is right although i might not agree with his management style at times but surely Africa can do with a few more slots at the world cup. From the 13 European slots, i would be happy for 3 to go to Africa, another 2 for the Americas..north or south..i don’t care how they share and 1 to Asia. Come on Kalu..crack that wipe at FIFA offices and lead the way…the whole of Africa is behind you.

    • Is this the selfsame Kalu who said he didn’t take FIFA Ranking table and FIFA sanctioned friendly dates seriously and ended up sending a complacent bunch of players who couldn’t hit a barnyard door from 10 yards to AFCON 2013.
Please don’t confuse the FIFA World Cup with the Olympics where its an honour to just to participate and finish.
      Wake up!!

  14. Let’s say as @ the outsider here above suggest, in 2018 Africa is allocated 3 additional places and then teams are trounced by ridiculously high margins of 6-0, 5-0 and none qualifies to the second round. In 2022 another country is born in Africa (don’t ask me how) and as a result they also increase the places to Africa by one. Again the results for African teams remain as dismal or perhaps even worse.
Shall we luxuriate in the number of teams representing us or with drooping heads we shall want to know why we can’t go past the first round. The intention by participating countries is to win a tournament and not to increase numbers. Whilst the idea of requesting for an additional slot sounds rational at face value it gets incurably weak and rather lopsided when one considers the intent.

    • Spot on…sadly with our ever gullible Kalu fans it will only sink in when they are given a good 9 – nil thrashing at the World Cup Finals.

  15. Koma iwe Jay Jay uoneka Kalu has his finger up your arse! Please throw your tired argument about Kalu’s lack of management skill down your pit latrine. Like someone once said here Zambia needs more FAZ chiefs who are out of their depths in adminstration. Yes we need these good players who can’t manage. Because all the FAZ heads who know adminstration failed to deliver the AFCON trophy. only Kalusha has. Who needs to wake up here??

  16. Kalu you are right. UK is represented by Scotland, Wales and England when it is one country! Europe (Congo DR is the size of Western Europe) is represented by many countries. It took “a century” to have 5 countries from 2 and is still not enough!

    • If you are aware of the fierce football rivalry that exists between those countries you wouldn’t have made that suggestion…FIFA tried it and they refused. Moreover how many on them qualify at one time.

  17. We need more slots period.Arguments for nothing. What do you do first of all.Am tired with you same bloggers. That is why others have pulled out.
