Mopani Copper Mines and MTN Zambia have come on board to sponsor the COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 which runs from July 6-20.
COSAFA confirmed its partnership with Mopani and MTN in a statement on Tuesday.
Mopani are the national sponsors of the regional tournament in which 14 teams are set to compete.
The COSAFA Cup bounces back after three years of absence.
Chief Executive Officer Danny Callow says Mopani is delighted to be associated with the 2013 COSAFA Cup.
“COSAFA Cup will be happening in our backyard and we couldn’t stay away. We believe that sports plays an important role in national development as it contributes to keeping the population healthy and productive,” Callow said.
Meanwhile, MTN Zambia Chief Marketing Officer Clement Asante said:” MTN Zambia is passionate about Zambia’s number one sport-football. We know that football means a lot to Zambians, most of whom are our customers.”
COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 hosting cities are Lusaka, Ndola and Kitwe.

Let Ndola host opening and closing games. Theres been talk of Nkoloma. Cosafa will be watched by the whole Africa and If we have to be serious contenders for hosting 2019 Afcon games, this is an opportunity to showcase the good infrastructures to outsiders.
And the natives will be rejoicing at this and mistaking this for CSR!!

Maybe a good sign from Mopani. They have been so stingy and had choked our Nkana making us go into the shadow of our former-self. The owners get very high salaries (more than $16,000/month) indicating that there is lucrative business in mining and Nkana Mine is not a poor mine! It is time Mopani put their full weight on Nkana so that we can once again watch international games pa Chilata! Nkana has always been Itimu lya Calo.
This is not 1980…why can’t you run the club like a business entity instead of asking for handouts….its no wonder football will never move forward as too much dependence syndrome mindsets from the empty suits at Football house straight down to the gullible hero-worshipping fans.
Wake up and use your brain if you want assistance from Mopani why don’t you ask them for a one-off low interest loan to refurbish the stadium and facilities so that you increase your revenue and be self sufficient.
