Nchanga beat Blades in derby

Robust striker Bornwell Mwape has propelled Nchanga Rangers to a 2-0 win over troubled Konkola Blades in the midweek FAZ Super Division match at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.

Mwape registered a first half brace with goals in the 7th and 20 minutes to help Nchanga recover from last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Nkwazi in Lusaka.

The striker is in the home based Zambia team thats enters camp on Thursday ahead of the COSAFA Cup which runs from 6-20 July.

The home side dominated play in both halves of this Week 14 match.

The win has pushed Nchanga to fourth on the league table on 23 points after a round of 14 matches.

Blades on the other hand drops into the bottom five and remain stuck on 16 points.

Meanwhile, the Super Division goes on a three week break to pave away for the COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 which kicks off this Saturday.

  1. Is a Derby not played in the same city, town or of highway village?

Lusaka times at it again lol.

  2. Nchanga Rangers are from the town of Chingola, while Konkola Blades are from the town of Chililabombwe.

  3. Can someone please FIRE the entire sports department at Lusaka Times already?
There is NO DERBY between Rangers & Blades. Or at least “qualify” is by branding it “The KCM Derby” seeing both have the same sponsor?

  4. Judge Musonda resigned making Presidential decision hopeless. So where are we going next.
    Lawless country with awkward laws.
Morsi is no longer head of state and constitution suspected. The question is again. Has kamimba got the draft constitution? The answer is no. What next? The committee will not buy what the govt is saying. This ia biggest problem in Zambia where there are no laws. What does the law say for not meeting the deadline? Nothing. PF said that they would deliver the same within 90 days. Deadline past. What are we saying. Nothing. RB is charged seemly all witness lack credibility. Law is quiet. ACJ rejected by Parley, but still working illegally.

  5. It was not a local derby please. A local derby is between teams in the same town such as Nkana Vs Power, Zesco Vs Forest Rangers. The two teams are separated by a distance of 25 km and the only thing they have in common is that they are both sponsored by KCM Plc. On the football side it is a good win for “Brave”

  6. Maybe they called it local derby because the two teams are under one sponsor KCM awe bwafya ba LT

  7. Guys you are wrong, i grew up in Chilis and CN, the match between Konkoka (Bancroft) Blades and Rangers is a derby, even though i no longer live in either place and my allegiance is to neither, its one of the matches i travel long distance to watch, why? it is special it is a derby. Every Blades fan even though he has never watched any match in a season, this is the one they savor to catch. If you have lived in england, spain, or Germany maybe you can understand?Shalke04 vs Dortmund is a derby, but is dortmund and geircheken same city?Newcastle Vs Sunderland Vs Middlesbrough are derbies, valencia vs villareal are derbies so leave LT alone if you do not understand.

  8. There is nothing to argue about,Nchanga Vs Konkola was a KCM derby en not a local derby.
