Opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) faction leader Richard Kachingwe has described as shocking the party president Dr. Nevers Mumba’s celebrating of the former ruling party’s victory in the Chipata Central by-election.
Major Kachingwe has observed that there is no way that Dr. Mumba can be celebrating one victory out of the four by-elections that were held when the MMD has lost ten Parliamentary seats under his leadership as the party’s president.
Speaking in an interview with Qfm, Major also described as surprising that Dr. Mumba has attached himself to a by-election victory whose credit is not his.
Major Kachingwe notes that the victory of MMD is Chipata central is mainly attributed to the formidable party structures in the area.
The MMD faction leader has however congratulated Mr. Rueben Phiri for retaining the seat which fell vacant after the courts nullified it.
Meanwhile Major Kachingwe has applauded the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for the stance it has been taking on politicians from both the ruling party and the opposition who been engaging in alleged electoral malpractices.
Mr. Major Kachingwe has further reiterated the need to empower the ECZ with more powers to enable it take prompt action against any political party that is in breach of electoral code of conduct during an election.
Bwana Kachingwe we’re not celebrating MMD’s win per se but what Mumba and millions of zambia are happy about is PF’s failure in those seats.

And the loser in bye elections is the opposition!! PF has increased the number of seats in parliament. We are approaching absolute majority. Kafulafuta seat was missed by 100 votes. PF gaining ground in Solwezi and Chipata. Wait for the general elections see how PF will get more than 50% + 1 vote
Thats the entrenchment of negativity. Celebrating some one else’s failure. People should celebrate their own success.

There is nothing shameful about Nevers Mumba celebrating a win in Chipata Central.People like Kachingwe who have been in MMD longer than Dr.Mumba must feel ashamed that they destroyed the Party to the level it is today when they lost the 2011 General Election to PF which was not even ready to govern.There is no property for the party that they can show for the 20 years they were in authority but they expect Nevers Mumba to suddenly improve the Party.The phase MMD is going through right now is normal.It will just depend on how its membership will work together and ignore detractors like Kachingwe that will make the party regain its popularity.
We are all celebrating the maturity of democracy in Zambia. Dr Mumba is one of us. Only you is not celebrating.

Personally, I think that it is too early to call those elections indicative of much. This is not to say there could not be a sign in there somewhere, but just to say that while we can celebrate a victory, let’s not jump too far too fast, but rather, read properly into what has led to these victories and strategize for more to come.
This man is mad and what Lusambo did was not enough.Why is he habouring so much hurt for Nevers?If he truely loves MMD he should live Nevers alone and move on in life.I think this kachingwe is determined to finishing MMD at all cost.He does not need support from sane person he is a bad man.He is a fake and he is living in denial.

l wish Kachingwe could only start his own party why cling on to MMD tag? The problem is that he was a non-commissioned Officer in the first place, remember those old ads in the paper,”Are you a grade seven drop out or a form five failure and are “Looking for an exciting career? Join the Army as a soldier…” Thats the time Kachingwe joined hence the way he thinks, later with some sweet talk found himself as a commissioned Officer and struggled to be Major. Today’s soldiers are so educated infact there is no difference in education between commissioned and non-commissioned officers, except for the trades and branches they serve under. Some soldiers even have a better education than some officers, what with our children and no employment oppotunities.

‘Major’, Mumba is celebrating because PF has received a good hiding. PF used a gullible tribal ‘King’ as a door mat to try to ascend to the top in the Chipata By election and still lost! They fired guns with live ammunition at a crowd, (culprit still walks the street free), and still lost!
Evelyn Mwanawasa would have won for MMD in Kafulafuta, but she was bought by PF, like you. Taima is a sell out like you, had he not been bought by being a gullible deputy Minister in the first place, that seat would have been still MMD.

The Major is always contradicting himself like did in court.
He attributes loss of 10 seats by MMD to Nevers, but for the recent win he attributes it to the stong structures of the party in the province.
That doesn’t just make sense. If the loss had been because of Nevers, then the win should be because of Nevers. So all the bad thing is Nevers and good things its the party structures?

Mumba is justified to celebrate. The dream of Zambians through MMD was destroyed by Kachingwe, Namugala and those who were brought by Chiluba and Mwanawasa to ‘eat’. Mumba took over a party that was finished and its members such as Kachingwa hiding in their shells – scared of the cobra. Now that the preacher man has taught them not to be scared – they have all become wise! Given a good young vibrate leaders Mumba will prevent MMD to go the UNIP way.
Bwana Major Kachingwe and Madam Namugala should strive to restore their integrity by forming their own political party rather than pretend to float about as members of MMD. The two cunning politicians have eaten PF’s money by thriving on PF’s Project to destroy MMD.
