Zambia returned to work on Tuesday ahead of Sunday’s 2014 CHAN qualifier against Zimbabwe.

Zambia travel to Zimbabwe this weekend to face their hosts in a second round first leg game at Rufaro Stadium on August 11.

Herve Renard took his 23 players through the paces at the grand old Independence Stadium in Lusaka on Tuesday morning.

Amongst the players in training was Power Dynamos midfielder Lubambo Musonda who is one of three new faces in the team, post- Botswana victory last Saturday.

Others are new boy Boyd Musonda from Young Zanaco while Roderick Kabwe returns following his recent recovery from an ankle injury sustained in Zambia training on May 24.

The trio has been brought in as options for the injured Mukuka Mulenga who is out for three weeks due to an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Chisenga, Fackson Kapumbu, Bronson Chama, Chris Munthali, Kondwani Mtonga, Bruce Musakanya, Bornwell Mwape and Festus Mbewe who started in the 2-0 win over Botswana all undertook light training.

The team took Tuesday afternoon off and will on Wednesday face Lusaka Tigers in a training game at Independence.

And Zambia leaves for Harare by air on Thursday.

  1. Hoo ya Rodrick Kabwe he even missed COSAFA.
We want to see that Boyd Musonda… is he from the talent search?
And why is Evans Kangwa not in camp?

  2. One thing is certain, a win away is not what we should expect. Maybe a draw or a scoring loss then we finish mwana Mugabe pa Mwanawasa….!!

  3. Feel for the boys. International matches are now like league games playing week in week out. Anyway that’s what is expected of champions.

  4. Herve Renard is, if not the best coach we have so far. No matter how ill he is talked of, we are going to continue counting trophies. FAZ , Kalusha the presdo and us the fans please let us give him support and credit where it is due. may God richly bless us all in Jesus’ name.

  5. The grand old Independence stadium! is it still alive? I thought they had demolished it for the new Heroes 94 stadium?
