THE Patriotic Front (PF) in Choma have proposed President Michael Sata’s name as the party candidate for the 2016 general elections. The party has also embarked on a cemented party mobilisation drive to woo new members.

PF District chairperson Felix Chilufya said party members were overwhelmed by Mr Sata’s developmental agenda hence the need for him to continue being at the helm of national affairs.

Speaking during a press briefing yesterday, Mr Chilufya said the district party officials convened a meeting on Monday where they unanimously proposed Mr Sata’s name for 2016.

“As a district, we unanimously agreed and resolved to propose President Sata as our candidate for the 2016 general elections during a well attended meeting,” he said.

He said President Sata’s concerted efforts to champion and deliver various desirable developmental projects in Choma as provincial capital for Southern Province had impressed the locals.

He cited Government’s recent award of a K31 million contract to China Jiangxi Limited to construct a state-of the art six-storey provincial headquarters as one of the massive projects creating numerous job opportunities for youths in Choma.

He said other empowerment projects were the Link-Zambia 8,000 and the creation of new districts such as Pemba, Zimba and Chikankanta in the province bringing meaningful development to the locals.

Mr Chilufya said Mr Sata was taking the country’s economy in the right direction and that if he could rule beyond 2016, the livelihoods of the majority Zambians would be improved.

He said the party leadership had also outlined a number of programmes to recruit new members into the PF starting with various wards in the two constituencies namely Choma and Mbabala.

“The response has been very impressive from the grassroots and these developmental projects like the construction of roads are helping us to explain the good policies of the President,” he said

Party district secretary Peter Kampamba said the party was firmly gaining momentum adding that ward chairpersons had been directed to closely supervise on-going developmental projects in their areas.

He said Mr Sata’s recent visit to Chief Chikanta’s area this year had brought renewed hope among residents while it was good that some ministers were going to the area to check on developmental projects.

Agriculture and Livestock Deputy Minister Luxon Kazabu last week held various meetings in Chief Chikanta, Chief Nalubamba, Chief Nyawa and Chief Mwanachingwala’s areas to explain agricultural policies.

Mr Kampamba said the recent visit by PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba to Chief Singani’s area attended by hundreds of chiefs and their headmen had enlightened the people to work with the ruling party.

He said the district leadership would not relax but continue to devise programmes aimed at strengthening party structures at grassroots and that it would remain focused.

Meanwhile, Lusaka district PF members have maintained that they would continue to support Mr Sata’s candidature when his name was proposed. And Defence Minister, Geoffrey Mwamba has no regrets in endorsing Mr Sata as the party’s sole candidate for 2016.

Mr Mwamba said in an interview that his vote of confidence in President Sata remained solid and unchanged because he had not asked him and others to take away the endorsements they expressed.

“I have no regrets that I endorsed President Sata in the first place. Together with others, we democratically expressed our confidence in his leadership and we are proud of the love members have for our President,” he said.

Lusaka District PF interim chairperson, Robert Chikwelete said members had vowed to continue demonstrating against Mr Kabimba until he stepped down as party Secretary General.

The members also demanded for elections to usher in new office bearers on provincial and district levels in Lusaka.

Mr Chikwelete said in an interview yesterday that members agreed with President Sata’s decision to handle their campaign in a democratic manner by waiting for someone to propose him for the 2016 campaigns.

“As you can see these people are not here for lunch, they are protesting and they will continue protesting until he steps down. We do not want to go the MMD way where they hounded Major Richard Kachingwe out of the MMD offices. We are peaceful youths but we will continue demonstrating,” he said.

He said the interim leadership would continue to act until elections for new members were held.

    • The president banned talk of flotation of his name , Could the president then discipline this Felix Chilufya ?

And Why is a Bemba doing there as a Chaiperson, couldn’t they find a Choma native tonga?

    • These are upnd sponsored fellows trying to re ignite the dead and divisive endorsement issue to their benefit. After all how many pf votes come from Choma?

    • Proposing or endorsing. In this context I don’t know the difference.

Can someone educate me the difference in this given context?

    • @ Mushota. The president said endorsments should stop because no one has proposed. Now someone has proposed so endorsments should go on I guess.
District chairpeson Chilufya, Secretary Kampamba they are both bembas but they could have been born and breed in Choma so no big deal though indeed it raises some questions.
@Bwana Mkubwa in this case proposing is suggesting while endorsing like seconding. I might be wrong anyway.

    • @ all of you,
This is a signal that whatever Sata (your Hero) says, the PF cadres don’t understand. Even me, if some one is yelling at me, I never understand what they say.

    • @Bwana Mkubwa, so lt is cheating about the where abouts of blogus with fake flags! I stay within Zambia but look at that flag ha……. whether this for our own good with the government begining to be criticle of poeple visiting these websites I don’t know

    • These endorsements are clear indication of how undemocratic the PF is. Even the chinese system does not work like that. Chinese leaders are elected at party conventions not hand picked by a delusional individuals like Sata and GBM with their mobs. If there is no democracy at party level how do expect the party to perform at national level.

Lets face it Haleisa Haleisa, Hulabola Hulabola, Habwela Habwela,Hajika,Hajika to emancipate Zambia from PF oppression.

    • iwe,
go and smoke your ganja elsewhere not here.
we are being lambasted from all angles by the opposition and all you can contribute is this piece of s.hit.
      ati ganja farmer…. atase!

  2. Whatever form in every which way supporting your leader is the ultimate. No group can function properly with storming eithin the group. Everyone must defend their leader. Once your leader looses ground, no defence and that leader will be weak and that team can go no where. What those in Choma have done is no different from what GBM did. It a wise move. Ask any leader, supervisor, manager, president or anyone if they would work well with those against them within their organisation, the answer is no. Its a misnormal to have a faction within PF, not now! Wait for PF party convention time, then compete for positions.

  3. Check the name of the so called endorser . . .. . Name-sake with the endorsee but Choma-based!! I don’t know what Pa-Fwaka cadres would say if a Kasama or Chipata-based HH supporter with a tonga name endorsed him from those towns . . . . ati tribal!!! Tulelolesha fye……

    • I come from Chinsali, based in Lusaka and my intention is to do whatever is humanly possible to convince people to vote for HH in 2016. I belong to the 90% of the Bemba that are not tribal not benefit from the ongoing blatant tribalism and nepotism.

  4. The have come to release that the emperor has no clothes… so they want to provide the cloth but its too late

    • PF has A LOT of work to do in the Southern Province, especially Choma. Choma being the Provoncial HQ SHOULD NOT have Chilufya, Kampamba, Bwalya (late cadre), Mbewe, in the top heirachy of their party. Eveen when Kabimba has gone to visit Singani, they go to speak in Bemba, asking for transaltion into Tonga in Tongaland!!!!!!

    • How can the locals be associated with a party belonging to a tribe from another province? Zambia is now a polarised country. This is very bad.

  5. PF choma District chairperson Felix Chilufya,…………………even in tonga land all there members are bembas and you still deny that PF is not a tribal party………..i have seen so many of there local memebrs who are all bembas starting from the monze chairman who was hacked during the by elections in Livingstone to mwinilunga district chairman…all are bembas regardless of were they are.

  6. Iwe Chi King Fisher stop Tribalism. This is why Yo Ka Hakaivetela Heka will never make it.Idiots like you giving him a Tribal tag.I.D.I.OT!

  7. NO ONE HAS PROPOSED MY NAME: Someone then proposes his name. We don’t think that MCS was really asking anyone to propose his name. Well, some people really can sink to some unfathomable levels of foolishness. You insist on creating dictatorships even when those you target to be your dictators confess that they be spared the burden of becoming dictators.

  8. Focus seems to be firmly on 2016 elections and holding on to power rather than development an empowerment ..this is sad. It is true we need more leaders than politicians.

  9. Ke ki ki kik ki ..what can I say ..we shall call this one the mother of all endorsements or in short

    Presidentilal Endorsement RELOADED

  10. THE POLITICS OF THE STOMACH. ADOPTING SATA AS 2016 PF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE? BEMBAS HAVE NO BETTER CHOICE. HOW DO YOU STILL CLING TO A DEAD WOOD?

    • Sata the fighter in all aspects. He has done it great. How many new districts? And, and, and…. Give praise where and when it is due. Way before second term. We yet have to witness more good developments. Forward PF.

  11. Zambia is going digital in 2016. No more analog guys like those kapolis in the picture above in ugly suits. Honestly, what sort of suits are those?

  12. It is unfortunate a lot of bloggers fail to understand Zambian politics. Please read in between the lines and post good analysis unlike people just saying anything that goes through their minds. GBM is a strategist and i will say he is achieved what he started. It is the reason he is a businessman.

  13. It seems there is no end in sight to this endorsement nonsense which has been running for weeks now. Is there nothing else meaningful to report or are endorsements the main development programmes for the PF? Zambia’s neighbours are quietly and steadily progressing. Get real!

  14. ARE YOU SURE SATA IS BEMBA? HE MUST BE FROM TANZANIA. WHO WERE HIS SCHOOL MATES WHEN HE WAS GROWING? WHICH SCHOOLS DID HE GO TO? WE NEED HONEST ANSWERS.

  15. Sata has politcal expertise with maturity. His objectuve analysis of governance & politcal econimics distnctively gives him the edge aganst all rivals.Ths fal short of Hakahi votela Heka.Hichidisabled is frustrated to the point of doing anythng to see him state hse.Now its tough as lractcal aspect indicate.Viva Sata.

  16. people of my calor am a choma residence never be cheated this so called PF this area is not even heard its as silence as water in the bucket its not there of course there are few individuals who were diploid into the area but the bottom line is there is nothing of PF here just ask wynter kabimba he will testify what happened when he came ana musweta menso

  17. If PF are working and the people on the ground can really attest to that then I have no qualms but wish them well. My only concern is the never ending squabbles and red tape. I am not on the ground and rely on what I read in the papers and what I might pickup from the locals on the ground. I have to end this Addiction to LT and ZWD for now and will check up on you brethrens before the end of the year. Peace be unto you in Jesus name. I wish all our leaders wisdom, good health, fair and impartial rule of the beautiful country our beloved Zambia. One Zambia, One Nation. Free and strong has always been our cry! ciao!
