Zambia make Brazil work hard for win

Share

Patrice Beaumelle began his stint as interim Zambia coach on a positive note with a narrow 2-0 friendly loss to five time World champions Brazil in Beijing today.

Zambia held their own despite being under the cosh for most of the 90 minutes from the 2014 Fifa World Cup hosts in the two sides first ever meeting.

The first half ended scoreless with Kennedy Mweene the hero keeping out sure chances from Neymar and Pato.

The deadlock was broken after 60 minutes of action when 46th minute substitute Oscar put Brazil ahead with a free kick.

Dede extended Brazil’s lead when he headed in Neymar’s free-kick.

Tenacious Zambia marginal loss came after they were hit by seven key absentees for the match due.

Collins Mbesuma, Davies Nkausu and Mukuka Mulenga were all ruled out due to injury.

However, Beaumelle’s first day at the office was also hit by a club-versus-country row after TP Mazembe refused to release Rainford Kalaba, Nathan Sinkala and Stopilla Sunzu citing illness and injury.

    • haahhahahahahahahah so its hichani huh. didn’t mention names. ya Iam poor materially any job of cleaning your brain.??????

    • Twende for your own info, HH can afford any designer perfume tax free! Please if you’er joking because you are happy with the result i forgive you, if not you are drank!

Stem cell therapy is an intervention strategy that introduces new adult stem cells into damaged tissue in order to treat disease or injury. Many medical researchers believe that stem cell treatments have the potential to change the face of human disease and alleviate suffering.

    • MWENDE; Are you not just poor both mentally and materially, you are very useless chap. Honestly how can you think backwards?

  1. Congrats Boys, not too bad results, Brazil is world class. next time we will make them dance to our kalindula Music.

  2. Good show bane. Those guys are the best in the world. You know they beat some team 18:0, i will not tell which team.

  3. I just like how a loss has been described as a positive result in this report.Thats not a free kick that Oscar scored from it was from open play.Well done Zambia even though i feel our front line is too toothless. We can do better with a good striker and some good attack players.

  4. Good game! Apusuka Brazil. Sunzu, Kalaba & Nathan now belong to the dust bin. If they played, they could have made us lose by a big margin. HUNT dem down, Chimbokaila is waiting for dem. Damn!

  5. well done boys, shame on those TP GUYS,the young boys have shown them that they can do without them.Zambian soccer has a bright future, am sure the whole continent is proud of us.well done boys!

  6. Those three ‘soccer cheats’ have to pay for what they have done to the nation. they should not be given chance to play for the team again. why should they choose to play for mazembe(club) instead of giving national duties as priority. after all we have seen potential in the players who played the brazilian team. Kalaba ,sunzu and Nathan you are cowards. work extra hard coach. we are behind you.

    • True! We almost rolled over except for the first mistake which turned into a goal caused the boys to weaken. We need a psychologist for the team so that they can work on their confidence. Right now it is very difficult for Zambia to come back from behind/ Once they are scored, they put it in their mind ati “twalusa” That needs to change.

    • That was excellent performance, if we had natural/aggressive strikers they could have slotted more than one goal. Our strikers even within the eighteen do not shoot hard strikes at goal. Deflections within the box cause goals if attempts at goal are frequently made. The style of play and tenacity was good, just the winning mentality was not there. At least they were not intimidated that Brazil featured their entire best team. Congrats!

  7. Neymar was there, Oscar, Dani Alves, Hulk, Benard, Paulinho, Alexander Pato, Ramires, David Luiz and many more. This is almost the same team that was at the Confedrations cup……Just give credit where it is due iwe chiwa!!!! Ba Zambia played well, simple and straight forward and I saw Brazil begin defending in the dying minutes of the second half.

We have a good coach now and I smell AFCON 2015 again….watch this space!!! Beumelle is looking good tactically and I encourage people of Zambia to rally behind him………I saw this when Kakonje was Zambia’s first choice at one time, till Mweene was given a chance to prove himself. Now it Patrice walking out of Renards shadows!!!!!

    • even from this debate jayjay is underground. He thought zambia would be whitewashed but brazil looked just as zambia.

  8. I don’t get the sense coz Zambia was aiming to go the World Cup and the result shows that we are not ready to compete. For me its not a good result and the new coach must start to identify new legs.

  9. Gentlemen and ladies, if any in the blogs, please cut the TP Mazembe boys some slack. You certainly can’t blame them for not being part of the team but the TP officials. It is simply for selfish reasons because of their up coming caf game over the weekend that they made sure they blocked the boys from traveling. I am sure them boys would have loved to see Beijing and of course rub shoulders with the Neymars and Hulks of this world.

    • @ [email protected], the 3 mailoni brothers were not just blocked by TP officials, they too didn’t want 2 play for Zambia. If blocking them was done against their wishes they would have made some efforts to fight against TP wishes. However they sided with TP in faking up their illnesses and sneaking out of the country in the manner they did.

  10. Am I the only one confused people are celebrating a loss. I am only celebrating it was only two tricky goes conceded.

  11. To be honest that wasn’t a bad result considering the line up of the likes of Kabaso Chongo of Chingola Mine Police against Neymar if i may use this but just one example… Ooh Good Lord … it could have been worse!

  12. I can foresee a goed soccer year for Mother Zambia next season, HR leaving might have just been openning up the spirit of determination and caging those of insecurities, one door closes another good one opens. Too bad for the Mailoni brothers, now they can kiss their wounds, am pretty sure they are busy reading our comments, shame on you unpatriotic trio, Congo will let you go as soon as they have no use for you, Blood is thicker than water nomatter what, didnt you learn that somewhere? mean while hail to our chipolopolo boys we love you!

  13. Well done boys! The only problem is that Zambia gave Brazil a lot of respect. We need to be more aggressive. We missed Mbesuma,Kalaba and Sinkala.
A word of advise to Coaches, avoid giving names of well known soccer icons.Imagine if one of our players at club level is called Neymar!Did you expect him to out perform his idol?
Lets be proud of our selves.

  14. We never expected to beat Brazil. it was good exposure for the boys. They did their best but we were playing against the world’s greatest footballing nation

  15. Given the fact that we fielded a very weakened team I will swallow this defeat like a bitter pill. But we should have scored at least one goal

  16. i saw the game live at the stadium, i have to say, zambia played very well, those 2 goal by brazil came in quick succession,,,,fair result for us, and worrying result for brazil…i have to mention, neymar was surprised by our defense

  17. not a poor performance though not gd enough, the fact is our mid en striking force needs improving coz that’s what cost us Brazil 2014.

  18. What’s the point of all this when the country failed to qualify for the world cup. It was a friendly and let us just leave it at that. If Brazil had pulled all its stops we could have gone down 20-0.

  19. the boys played a classic world class football. I couldnt see anything scaring surely next time the boys ll do much better.

zambia at its best could ve wired england 6-0

  20. @ twende,
Kanshi baice imwe ubufontini bukapwa lisa. Only in your rural village head can a skillfull zambian call himself oscar. Whats oscar anyway? Ubufontini we kapuba we.

  21. if Zambia had prepared well enough for this game the result would have been better..but instead of analyzing what went wrong and trying to do better nxt time, you are celebrating. Only in Zambia you celebrate when you lose

  22. Cindy, can you tell me the scoreline of the Ghana v Egypt qualifier? I’m happy Zambians have realised Ghana played at 1st gear to dismiss the chipolopolo last month in Kumasi. Behold! Ghana matches on

    • Congratulations to our African brothers the Ghanian team for a job well done, we only hope things will even be much better in Brasil, good luck we will be behind you.

  23. Cindy likes to trash talk so much haha if Egypt had won she wud hve been all over this site bashing Ghana…Cindy can you answer Don Yaw, i want to know the scoreline lol

    • Ghana are a good and strong team which make us happy to have locked horns with on several occassions implying that we are as good as they can be, sometimes you win some, sometimes not, i like the game and the beauty of it all, what i detest is what we have made it to be at certain times, i hope in the future we can play and support without making it ugly, looking forward to watching our dear brothers in Brasil, good luck.

  24. AT BRAIL NI WORLD CLASS!NGA GHANA?BRAZIL HAS SCORED 2, GHANA SCORED 2 AS WELL.ANY TEAM CAN DO ANYTHING TO ZAMBIA AT THE MOMENT.OUT OF 16M PIPO IN ZED,U MEAN WE FAIL TO PICK 11 TO GO TO THE WORLD CUP NANGU MINYAMA.SUGGETION, SEND PIPO TO BRAZIL TO GO SEE HOW THEY MANAGE TO COME UP WITH WORLD CLASS PLAYERS NOT CONGRATULATING FAILURE,NO WONDER WE DONT IMPROVE.BRAZIL ARE NOT MORE HUMAN THAN US.WE SEEM TO HAVE AN IDEA HOW TO PLAY BUT NO FAINTEST IDEA HOW TO WIN THE GAME.

    • Kanyangu @32 your idea that we learn from Brazil how to come up with world class players is very good, however, i find it dificult to understand your logic when you say 16m people in Zambia and we fail to find 11 to go to the world cup. Ghana scored 2 in kumasi and we scored 1, we scored 1 in Ndola Ghana scored 0, 2:2 on aggregate. Head-to-head we beat Ghana on away goal rule. Ghana has about 4 times the population of Zambia so whats your point.

  25. “Zambia is a great team. They made it difficult for us because they were very competitive,” Scolari said.

“We are satisfied with this result but I am sure Zambia too.
“They are a great team who work for each other.”

  26. we have the fine couch partrice is better than raind the boys are powerful keep it up boys GOD bless u and have tha unit united we stand divided we fall down the spirit u show was good u win brasil gooooooooooooooooooooood the big good

  27. We played very well going into half time nil-nil. But i think we have a tendency of relying on BIG names too much, Katongo should not have been on starting line up or he must have been substituted earlier. Brazil 2: 0 Zambia on the other hand Ghana 6: 1 Egypt i think we are not bad as as team only minor shake ups would cement the team. Good show BOYs

  28. Really i dont know what you people are busy celebrating. How can you celebrate a loss?
That new coach should be dissmissed. He has failed us, how can he loss to brasil with that big margin?

  29. King Cobra… I agree with you. We need to have wining menatality …We can not accept medicre..We needed to win that game . FULL STOP. Playing well means you won the game.

  30. The deadlock was broken after 60 minutes of action when 46th minute substitute Oscar put Brazil ahead with a free kick. True or false?

This 60min goal was a defleted one were the Zambian defenderwanted to block the short and it hit his legs causing the ball to deflet as it went pass thr Kennedy Mweene’s height in the goal post. The result of that game could have been either BrasiI 1: Zambia 0 or A deadlock Brasil 0 Zambia 0.
