Police confirm one PF cadre has died in the inter-party violence

Police Spokesperson Charity Chanda has confirmed that one person had died in the rulling Patriotic Front inter-party violence that took place yesterday. The victim. whose identity was unknown as at 19 Hours, died in Levy Mwanawasa hospital, where he had been admitted in ICU suffering from heavy bleeding with deep cuts.

And Interim Lusaka District Information Secretary from the GBM camp The other PF cadre was battling for his life in ICU at Levy Hospital as at 19 Hours, his name is Julious Komaki, the Interim Lusaka District Information Secretary Julious Komaki is said to be in in a serious condition. It is believed that Mr Komaki was severely beaten during the violence that erupted.

Meanwhile Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) has released a statement to the media expressing deepest sorrow over the violence that took place.

“I have learnt of today’s violence with the deepest sorrow. My prayers go to out to families who have lost their loved ones following today’s regrettable intra-party violence. To all those nursing their wounds in our hospitals, I join many Zambians within and outside PF in sharing your pain. I look forward to my returning home and joining fellow citizens in mourning the departed and comforting the wounded, ” read the statement

“Let me say that irrespective of our differences, violence and bloodshed are never effective tools for resolving any conflict. We must take lessons from today’s unfortunate incident in order to avoid today’s bloody experience from repeating itself. As a party in power, we must support the police and other law enforcement agencies to work at bringing the perpetrators of this bloodshed to justice.”

“Lastly, I appeal to all our people, within and outside PF, to look at peaceful ways of resolving any differences we may have. Let us all work towards healing the wounds opened up by today’s clashes. Let us commit ourselves that we will never re-open these wounds again. Let us all forge healing and remember that Zambians expect us to deliver. Our unity is the best support we can give President Michael Sata in order for him to deliver development”.

  1. Unfortunate and sad. How can this be? This has never happened before that within the same party life should be lost this way. GBM and Kabimba are injury free, happy and tossing and turning in their beds with their wives at their homes while their cadres are fiercely fighting on their behalf. We need to wake up as Zambians and do the needful in 2016

    • While, sad indeed that our brothers have taken the root of killing each other within the party (PF). I think that these actions confirm to some degree that the PF cadre who died in L/Stone was killed by the fellow PF cadres, the one who died in Rufunsa was equally butchered by PF, in Mufumbwe and Maybe at Pemba also. These actions confirm this is a violent party, and not the opposition killing those who lost their lives in the above mentioned.
      GBM is the sole person causing these infights using his wealthy. He is also new to PF compared to Kabimba, so GBM must stop using his money to fund violence. Wynter is also to some extent to blame over this violence. It takes Sata to show leadership to resolve the in-fightings, he must support either Wynter or GBM and direct cadres to respect that.

This is not only a shame, but very scary for the future of this country. There’s always war talk on Sata’s lips and Kabimba is even worse, so what would one expect from their followers? I salute GBM for coming out to speak on this matter because his name has been mentioned. Wynter will do good to speak out to his constituency as well. What happened yesterday is irreversible but serious lessons must be taken for future interactions. Wynter must also speak about the reported militia training because going by what happened yesterday, there is a group that had more trained militias and looking at the statistics of the injured, Wynter has militias to his side, armed with machetes.

He has promoted artificial peace and reconciliation without addressing the deep-seated problems in PF. This is a wake up call for PF to resolve its problems.   83. ZAMBIANS open your eyes, does this Government care, the president swore to uphold the constitution, which is about protecting the Zambian citizens rights, and life.
    But if you look at the events of PF and Government leaders its pathetic to say the least. Killings in chongwe in Luangwa bye- elections, Livingstone bye elections, Violence in Lufwanyama, Mkaika, Solwezi and not to mention PF Lusaka cadres.
    The killing in Kapasa, Kitwe former Mp and list goes on and on. I am so annoyed with the loss of life PLEASE ZAMBIANS LET US VOTE OUT THESE THUGS in 2016. May the lord deliver us from these terrible leaders we have who do not know what they are suppose to do in the offices we have put them.

  84. Dear countrymen there is no way a simple cadre can respect the presidential directive/order when the camp leaders themselves are still exchanging bitter words in the media. Not until the president crack the A team and on the other hand demote GBM shall we see peace in PF. The danger now is that innocent souls will be lost or caught in the fracas. It is time for the president to show meaningful leadership by disciplining his top most lieutenants.

  93. In what capacity is GBM issuing his self-implicating statement? Is it as the leader of one of the warring factions? If law and order was fairly applied in Zambia GBM would by now be facing interrogation to explain his role in the violence but being an untouchable one that will not happen and it will be business as usual.
    The security of the country is at risk for two main reasons:-
    1. GBM is minister of defence and is widely suspected to be behind the violence, how safe are Zambians with him in that portfolio?
    2. The warring thugs belong to the ruling party and therefore the ability and credibility of the PF to govern is heavily compromised. Clearly a failed state!
    May be we should wait for the president to issue a comprehensive statement if ever he will.

  101. PF can not go. PF will remain in power after 2016. But bad seeds within the party must definitely go. President Sata must take a firm stance against anarchy in the PF. It is now clear to all that divisions within PF are not about supporting the president to go beyond 2016. These divisions have the markings of curtailing his presidency even before 2016. Where on earth can you find supporters of a popular president slaughtering one another as a way of showing loyalty to that president? If bad elements are allowed to remain in PF blood shed will be the order of the day, PF as party will lose substantial membership, the president and government will become very unpopular, developmental undertakings will stall, potential and viable investors will stay outside the border line.

  104. Yesterday’s killers were reported to have been pro- Kabimba militias. Where is the moral conscience of Winter Kabimba if murderers can claim allegiance to his name? Who supplied those murderers with assorted weapons? Where was the police for such a situation to have been allowed in broad day light and in relative close proximity of the head of state? What about the other militias who were attacked? To whom are they claiming allegiance? They are also said to have been armed with assorted weapons. What was their intention? Also to kill? If this is the state of affairs, then the ruling party is at war with itself and national development is under threat. The thugs who are butchering one another are not the the ones who made PF gain state power. The people of Zambia decided.

  107. At first the implosion of the PF looked funny, now the bloodletting is both worrying and unacceptable. The escalating debt situation deeply concerning, the silence of the President, Vice President and Secretary General in light of these developments completely baffling, the inaction and general dereliction of duty by the law enforcement agencies most disconcerting. We the people demand an immediate end to this unnecessary bloodshed, violent infighting, chaotic governance, escalating debt, nepotism, corruption and general incompetence exhibited by the country’s political leadership. Enough is enough.

    If I were you, I wouldnt continue exhibiting my incoherent ideas on this site. By this day, if this government was lead by genuine leaders, they would have resigned, but because they clear on underrating the Zambian’s ability to react, they sit in comfort that in heaven its God and on earth, its pf! My realistic observation is that if we were to hold general election anytime from now, PF will be no were near leadership – please mark my word! The reasoning is simple – they have done enough of discredit to themselves to render them useless. The summary is that Sata is the worst president we ‘ve ever had!
