GOVERNMENT will not block Henry Sosala’s ascent to the position Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people, Northern Province Minister Obius Chisala has said.

Mr Chisala however singled out former members of Parliament and a permanent secretary that previously served in the province for fuelling acrimony between the Bemba Traditional Council (BTC) and Government.

Mr Chisala said he was aware that the said former parliamentarians had been working to paint the picture that Government was not ready to work with the BTC when that was not the case.

“We had people complaining over non issues that President Michael Sata had a sent a junior official when he tasked our provincial secretary Everest Chela to deliver a message to the BTC not to hastily hold the public installation of the Paramount Chief Chitimukulu,” he said.

[pullquote]“We already have a Mwine Lubemba Chitimukulu Manga II. The function we have put on hold following the request from Government is the gift presentation ceremony. We will hold it at a later date to be announced especially after the people working on the palace finish their works,” he said.[/pullquote]

The minister said some Government officials in Luapula, Muchinga and Northern Province fell under the Chitimukulu chiefdom and there was no way the two could not harmonise pending issues.

He said the opposition was scandalizing Government claiming it was against the BTC. He urged not to politicize issues relating to chiefdoms that would be resolved through dialogue.

“I want assure the BTC my doors as provincial are always open and we are ready to help were we can,” Mr Chisala said.
Mr Chisala, however, went and delivered the message to the BTC Mr Chela was tasked to deliver asking the BTC to stay the public installation ceremony.

BTC spokesperson Washanga Mpika later in a statement said the BTC had acquiesced to the request and would hold the ceremony at a later date.

Mr Mpika , however, maintained that the installation had already been done and Saturday’s function was just meant to allow members of the public to present gifts to the paramount chief designate.

“We already have a Mwine Lubemba Chitimukulu Manga II. The function we have put on hold following the request from Government is the gift presentation ceremony. We will hold it at a later date to be announced especially after the people working on the palace finish their works,” he said.

Mr Sosala is currently anchored at ‘misokolo’ in Tondolo Village awaiting his ceremonial move to the palace.

Mr Mpika said the BTC had already installed the Chitimukulu at a secret ceremony that was not privy to neither public eyes nor discourse.

[pullquote]“We are enjoying cordial relations with Government, and while it is (Government) welcome in Lubemba, it has no role to play in the installation apart from that of spectator,” he added.[/pullquote]

The president’s emissary Patriotic Front Northern Province secretary Everest appealed to BTC to have accommodating dispositions to enable Government to participate in the installation and to ensure cordial relations between Government and BTC prevailed.

Mr Mpika said BTC was not at war with anyone and had done nothing wrong during the installation process.

“We are enjoying cordial relations with Government, and while it is (Government) welcome in Lubemba, it has no role to play in the installation apart from that of spectator,” he added.

    • basopo!! GBM has very heavy backing from the BTC!! viva bashilubemba for the brave move…

my appeal to the new chitimukulu… please employ mpenzi has your kapyanga, the man is poor,, he is always begging kneeing for anything to anyone

    • @Ndobo, UmuBemba is tough and never fight in streets, and no Bemba man get arrested for such things we hear from your Lozi people. Mpezeni is better than your Litunga, and the most disappointing Zambian is that Chief Inyambo Yeta… How can he even allow Sinyinda to be arrested by a Sata?
If Bembas decided to cut Zambia from Barotseland it can be done. Basopo!! I like that:)

    • Wena, Nostradamus, since when has the Zambian government interfered with Litunga succession in Barotseland? Mucaha, ahuna booko! Isa butoto bwa hao kafoo, mun’ete tuna wena!

    • Mwaumfwa bane – ala utu tubantu twita ati utuwine Lubemba, twaya teka umwine Lubemba in a Village Called “TONDOLO” – twauma PF ka “Donchi kubeba!!” TONDOLO fye!!! Ala twali chenjela fino naine na chenjela!!

For those not familiar with the lingua, “Tondolo” means “Quiet!”

  1. “We are enjoying cordial relations with Government, and while it is (Government) welcome in Lubemba, it has no role to play in the installation apart from that of spectator,” he added. GOOD ONE!!!!!!!!!

  2. So glad to see the autocratic control freak in plot one shoved aside like banana peel.Let him know that his opinion is not always the most important.

  3. As I have posted and blogged before!! Sata has become the “Enemy Of The State”

There is only one person that has looked “foolish” & “irrational” from this chronicle or saga. And that is Sata himself, having succumbed to the powerful force of the Bashi-LuBemba.

Bashi-LuBemba – Well done for slapping this on his face !!! We have a president who thinks using his mouth and not the head.

In essence, GBM has gotten Northern & Muchinga provinces with this latest announcement. How will Kabimba even attempt to go and seek support from Northern & Muchinga Provinces?. Considering the Geo of Zambia, GBM has the numbers inside and outside PF Kraal. All Kabimba has are the troops with Pangas & Machetes, plus the toothless Police Inspector General.

  4. PF has really shot itself for 2016. We expected Sata to fail, but this beyond comprehending.

It also astounds me, Kabimba thinks can win 2016 Presidential Elections, if he was to be handed power. Where the hell will he get the electoral -votes from, to beat any opposition leaders? Pretty sure it’s NOT from the North, East, South or West. Copperbelt also has gone AWOL against him. Worse more, no one wants him in his own party. The only reason why he is still hanging on its because of Sata’s protection.

We wait Professor Luo’s spin on this issue.

  6. If the govt is not blocking the installation, why are the putting it on hold? Everybody has been following this story and we all know what is happening, so it is dumb for the govt, through that minister to give people a funny story. Traditional chiefs are the last leadership institutions in Zambia with a bit of integrity left, most people like me respect traditional cultures more that govt useless and rotten leadership institutions, so Panga Family should be very careful not to mess with our chiefs. How can the whole govt fight an innocent traditional leader? Shame on you Panga Family!!!

  7. Yes! There’s was always going to be someone to remind the Panga Family(PF) that Sata’s desire isn’t all that matters in mother Zed. He(Sata) can be INSTRUCTED to sit down and just WATCH. I really like this…

  8. Haha,in this case Sata adopted buggerking sales slogan of “have it your way” and the BTC answers him thru Mcdonalds sales slogan of “i’m loving it” Perfect combo.

  9. The minister said goverment will not and daz not recognize the new chief! Now you come up with a new story that they do…… This is truly a Panga Family! Do they know what they are doing. Useless fools………

  10. Pwihihihi… Initially Sata and Siliya said they wouldn’t recognize Sosala but they are giving up now after babamenya munzelu. I love this. I mean, someone needs to know we will not always dance to his tune. Besides, who told him that he is infallible

  11. The problem is that the president is not a normal human being. This creates an uncertain situation where people are kept on tenterhooks not knowing when and what the maniac might do next.

  12. BAICHE..LISTEN

WE THE BEMBAS ALREADY HAVE A CHIEF. WE CANNOT AND WILL NEVER GO BACK

    ON THIS.

THIS REMAINING CEREMONY IS A FORMALITY CALLED “UKUMUSAPILA”. IN

SIMPLIFIED TERMS COULD BE THE EQUIVALENT OF “UKUSHIKULA”.

    NO LECTURES.

  13. We should just go to the Commonwealth and declare Bemba as a country. just like our relatives the Lozis. We can draw a boundary wich includes Copperbelt, Luapula Northwest. Western province ,Southern, Central and which one have I forgotten, we will change the names of provinces. Southern province will become Mulanyamba Province Eastern will be Chinungwe province Northwestern shall be called Chinanashi nagu Namasai province. our leader will be called Kachenjela and we will eat all the ground nuts. Monkeys will be our traditional food and if you refuse will go to jail. OK chapwa

    • May be you should call your country Kolwestan or Republic of Kabolala. Wonder how you can survive when the monkeys become extinct since agriculture is foreign in that part of Africa. Sorry I forgot, you will depend on mounting raids into other countries in order to get food. What a country to be!

    • @ 20.1 Blue Blood you are such an ignoramus. When monkeys finish we will be eating ifishimu, inswa, imfuko, bakapanga, inkate, impembya, banyenye, insenshi, ubowa, umusalu – the list is endless. As for farming, well it shows how untravelled you are!

  14. Depot Sosala to Cameroon were he originated from. Whoops! that cant be done boss. Ok, find him a case, haa! GBM will take advantage leaking our plans and will be beaten again. What! grab the GRZ hilux he is driving, mmm! He retained it boss and HH bought him a new one.

  15. ifyabuloshi fyekafyeka!!!! ati “the BTC had already installed the Chitimukulu at a secret ceremony that was not privy to neither public eyes nor discourse”. when will this end???

  16. Yaba Psycho Mata has been given the business on this one. The only downside to this is the old man remains unteachable. Even as lessons are to be drawn from this- for the old unreasonable President will pick another fight. Whenever this man opens his mouth I actually cringe hoping he won’t say anything to damage the nation’s reputation. I for one is very happy that he doesn’t hold pressconfrences…the world would call us a nation of illiterates for electing this man.

  17. No one has messed with the Bembas and got away with it. They are trouble and are backed by the most powerful church, catholic . I think Kaunda must have told Sata that he was playing with fire . Chiluba , RB relialised too late and they regretted . Even the colonialist handled them with caution

  18. I don’t understand why the ceremony has been put on hold. This is inconveniencing we had made plans and money had been spent.
