The Strike action by University Teaching Hospital Nurses has entered day four today.
The Nurses are demanding a 100 percent pay rise.
A check by QFM News at the countrys largest hospital found student nurses and those on contract manning the wards.
The striking nurses were also found locked in a meeting with Zambia Union of Nurses Organization (ZUNO) officials.
The Nurses have demanded to be addressed by Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda who had promised to look into the grievances the last time they downed tools.

HEALTH WORKERS IN LIVINGSTONE JOIN STRIKE
Nurses, paramedics and all health workers except at Livingstone General Hospital and all other Clinics have gone on strike. The health workers are demanding 100 per cent hike to their basic salaries. The health workers have vowed not to go back for work until the matter is resolved. Health workers at the country’s biggest hospital UTH in Lusaka are already on strike.
And yet you guys you still continue to vote for Sata and his vision-less PF Party. Zambians enjoy having meals of lies from Sata.
Nurses need to learn to speak with one voice!
This is not a problem for UTH and Livingstone nurses!
As long as your strikes remain sporadic, you won’t be heard!
Noble profession does not mean you work for free!
Unfortunately the economy has gone bad and you need to survive.
Government should Pay a competitive wage and restore the dignity of the nursing profession!
How do we expect them to serve us with a smile when all you can pay them is a K2,800 per month to take home?
Rather than issuing threats, the best is government should reconsider the plight of nurses and allied workers and pay them a decent wage. Neighbouring countries are paying the equivalent of ZMW 7,000 to 10,000 inclusive of allowances, then gratuity, 3ys! Why should we always suppress the conditions of service…

It is indeed bad for the man of axn to act badly on nurses and midwives who helped them win 2011. We now say seeing is believing sata and government are dictatorial in that Dr Kasonde is commanding workers instead of having a positive way forward. We need each other, nurses may be badly named because pipo are not in their shoes of studying and working hard.
