FIFA has given FAZ up to January, 20 to pay former Zambia national team coach Dario Bonetti US$400,000 compensation for breach of contract.
Bonetti confirmed from Italy that the world soccer governing body had ruled on the appeal by FAZ against the verdict handed down in April last year.
The Italian said the FAZ had been ordered to hand over a copy of the payment to FIFA.
“If it does not respect the above mentioned time, FIFA will proceed to forward the entire file to the Disciplinary Committee for consideration and a formal decision,” he said.
“As you can read from the annex (document) FIFA (has) ordered FAZ to pay immediately the relevant amount and to provide by 20th January a copy of payment.”
Bonetti was fired in 2011 after qualifying Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup.
Please pay the man his dues plus interest or work out an instalment payment plan….i hope the taxpayer won’t be asked to foot this bill.
You can almost be sure that the tax payer will “foot-the-ball” bill, unless FAZ has that kind of money and more.

Surely Satas hatred for Rb will now cost us as a nation. He is such a petty, evil and vindictive man.
And this is why I’m highly critical of this organisation as we are always helping it out yet we are not privy to its accounts as stakeholders.
Isn’t always the case when you choose an illiterate person to be the leader. We always knew that Kalusha is up to something. So much has been said about how Bonetti was fired after training our team that ended up qualifying and went to win the cup for the first time in our history. Yet all praises went to Renart and was even given citizenship. After sometime, the skill that Bonetti had left in the team has waned and finished and people can’t believe it is the same team that won that cup. Infact the following year we were knocked out in the opening stages of the tournament and we were laughing stock on the continent. Renart ended up being fired. But what I didn’t know is that Bonetti wasn’t paid? Where will kalusha find $400K now?? 50 years and we are still acting s.t.u.p.i.d!!
Kalusha should not be allowed anywhere near football administration or coaching after his present term at FAZ. He is such a loser. Even his personal life is in tatters and that gores to show the kind of loser he is. Basically, after he leaves FAZ he will be nothing and will become invisible. His image is already being tarnished including by the current Bonetti scandal. Now people are going to have to pay this $400K, due to his crapping all over the show. I’m very disappointed. Kalusha has taken .i.d.i.o.c.y to another level!
@ Mwembeshi. Was Renard fired? Just wondering??? Yes, that is huge amount to be paid to someone who doesn’t even deserve it. But lessons should be learnt from that experience especially where hiring of a national coach is concerned…too many “hands” were involved in hiring Bonetti! Corruption has cost us dearly! Let’s start paying off we have no choice especially with the involvement of the stubborn FIFA.
Just a point of CORRECTION, the moment Bonetti signed that contract, he was entitle to this money. If you study Law Of Contract u will understand this. So he deserve to paid. The problem we have is that we want to politicize everything pa Zed.
Whoever deliberately breached the contract should pay Bonnet, why should we as taxpayers foot this almost half a million dollars?

Kay, Sata was not involved in this. It was Kalusha Bwalya and Rupiah. Unfortunately, if Bonnetti is not paid, Zambia can be suspended from FIFA and CAF. Then, like Kenya, we will not be allowed to play in international matches. This is a lesson to us Zambians who like to fire people without honouring contracts. In international circles courts will enforce contracts! Our semi-illiterate leaders will always fall foul of the law.
When you hire a leader you want them to make decisions for the majority and when they do don’t complain..we have to pay although we all know he doesn’t deserve it .Lets default on payment and just be punished as a country,that greedy coach was a joke and he will not get that cash.we know who’s engineering all this !

If we default, we will be suspended, but that does not take away the debt. We still have to pay him through FIFA. The best is to settle the bill and then recover the money from the people responsible for breaching the contract before they looked into the consequences of their actions.
So ashamed right now!

What is colossal about this amount, as pf govt we used to this kind of wasteful spending through by-elections. We will take care.
